  1. Croc, Just go faster and catch 6th going under the bridge
  2. Kitcat: Probably 8,800-8,900 rpm to keep piston speeds the same as the 2.3 Cosworth Duratec.
  3. I'm in for October! I'm still working on the new engine as our crank failed spectacularly last year. Rather than the high torque, lower rpm stroker engine we had last year we're going oversquare and high rpm this time, which is more up my alley. It'll be a 2.42L Cosworth/Duratec built by Hasselgren but we're using a 2.5L block further bored and a short stroke billet crank (shorter than the 2.3 Cosworth) so the engine should be a screamer. I'm looking forward to dyno results and testing.

    100 Best Cars

I also could not see below #81, but the list better include a Lamborghini Miura, Mclaren F1, and an Alfa T-33 Stradale...
  5. I'm in!! My engine is out in California being rebuilt at the moment. It turns out it did not have a forged crank. Now it's getting a billet crank and we'll try again! We'll get this thing sorted... Best, John B
  6. RIP Jesse, Never lift
  7. Simon's in for Sunday. I may just do Sunday as well, I'll see how it goes.
  8. Alright! I'm in for Sunday 7/28 and Monday 7/29 at Lightning. Are any other 7's going? Simon? Seb? Croc? KitKat?
  9. Well, that certainly looks a lot swoopier! Can't wait to try it at the track.
  10. Those are great pics, and nice commentary as well. What a wonderful weekend that was! In fairness, I think that was my son Connor doing a little “Stig” work chasing Simon and Seb.
  11. Although it's not a 7, it's certainly worth mentioning this BAC Mono on BaT. https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2015-bac-mono-2/
  12. Nice Lotus Super 7 S2 on ebay in NJ not too far from me. Let me know if anyone wants me to check it out for them. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1966-Lotus-Super-Seven-S2/233282145671?hash=item3650b30d87:g:foUAAOSwepNdI24s
  13. Hi Kitcat, For what it's worth, my engine builder Paul Hasselgren tells us to run Mobil 1 15w-50 in both our Atlantic and Caterham Duratec's. We have a dry sump and catch tank. Best, John
  14. Seb - Mercedes just announced the most powerful 4 cylinder ever in a street car. 2 Liter turbo, makes 416 hp! I wonder... https://www.motor1.com/news/354213/mercedes-more-powerful-four-cylinder/
  15. Kitcat, Thanks for the Helmet info. I've experienced helmet lift in open wheel cars, but it's probably going to be worse in the Caterham as the driver is more exposed. I'm currently using a Stilo helmet designed for open cockpits, we'll see how it goes.
  16. Well look what I found in the parts classifieds! Replacing my billboard windscreen with this SV Aero Screen should add 10-12 mph for my next track day. http://www.usa7s.net/vb/showthread.php?12342-Sv-csr-carbon-fibre-wind-deflector
  17. Connor and I had a wonderful time at our first Sevens event. We made new friends that share our affliction and had a lot of fun both on and off the track. Thanks to Tom and Croc for arranging everything.
  18. R500! Nice catch, Not many of those in the country,
  19. I'm really looking forward to this weekend. As Croc mentioned I'm also an instructor with NJMP and am happy to take a "ride along".
  20. Windscreen question: I was trying to get my SV set up with Brooklands screens prior to the event, but I'm having trouble with that. I would rather run without my big billboard of a windscreen and am thinking of just removing it and going Formula style. Can I run without a windscreen at all? It wouldn't be much different than an R model really, and I don't see anything in NJMP's rules preventing it. https://www.state.nj.us/njsp/info/pdf/racing_regulations.pdf
  21. Thanks Graham, I think I'll try putting a spacer in the bottom mount but I'll also have to make the hole the ball joint bolts though in the fender bracket into an open slot as there's not 3/8" room left there and that's closer to where the tire hits the bracket. It looks like that might be ok as that's how the CSR brackets are anyways although they may have another mounting point as well, I'm not sure. Worst case I can just just weld it back up.
  22. Registered, room, & trailer. I'm really looking forward to it! I'm still trying to resolve some last minute tweaks for the track though. 6 point harnesses - Done. 2 degrees front camber - Done. I'm trying to fit a set of Brooklands screens on my SV but Caterham doesn't supply the scuttles to mount the Brooklands on SV's, they only supply them for the narrower S3's so I purchased a narrower one and will try to have a section welded in to make it fit. Then mirrors... I picked up another set of VTO wheels to mount identically sized 205/50 15 Hoosier A7's as the Direzza's that were on for the street, but although the Hoosiers are the same "size", they apparently aren't the same "dimension". The inside of the tires hit the front fender stays. I need about another 3/8" of clearance. I may try to modify the stays, or go fenderless on the front. We'll see Nothing is easy, but we'll be there!
