Going coast to coast without a clue
Vovchandr replied to SanderGA's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I know you said you didn't experience rain, but my personal experience tripping on the motorcycles and being caught in the rain with Aeroscreen on the Cat only I'd consider adding a few items in regards to weather/water management to that pretty encompassing list. Even with doors and windshield in a serious rain event the car becomes a bathtub even if parked. Driving with Aero around town I keep a full face helmet in the car for the rain contingency. -
Pm'ed..

I can take pictures of my car to show you guys where existing ones are but I've never done this myself. I actually have to make holes in my (2x) Tonneau covers myself as well as half doors and haven't done that yet. I'm also missing the extra poppers on the back wall below the cage around the seat belt mounts (even though my Cat has all the other ones). Not sure how important those are.

Wrapping a Seven instead of painting it?... any thoughts?
Vovchandr replied to Clarko's topic in General Tech
Very impressive to have it done in once piece. I've had vinyl experience and I have no idea how they manage to pull that off. Takes a real honed skill -
Seems to be doing alright. Supposed to be a nice build per original spec sheet but I have my doubts on it being "all there". Maybe I'm just jaded. Haven't had an opportunity to go out in a faster caterham to compare. Over the winter will send the ITBs to be rebuilt by Borla Induction (formerly TWM) and then sometime next year plan to bring it down to NC to have turbofocus take a look/dyno it. I'd be hoping for 170whp. Otherwise while the ITBs are off I might as well mock up the supercharger that I have for the Zetec and see how/if it fits.

Tapatalk seems to be a half decent bridge honestly. Even if it is one picture at a time -
The Regular Summary of Classified Ads of Se7ens Found For Sale
Vovchandr replied to Croc's topic in Cars For Sale
It's a sellers market boys! Croc your new build is turning out to be a bargain -
This discussion came up a few times during the track day. As the days progressed and I was carrying more speed onto the straight I found myself running out of gearing well before the end of the straight and bouncing off the rev limiter. I knew in theory that, thats where my limit was by doing previous calculations but this was the first time where my cluster was working right and I got to experience it in person quite a few times. Croc was asking me which rear end I have and I double checked that I have 3.62 My 6th gear is 1:1 direct drive. Tires are the Toyo R888 225/45/13. Top speed as calculated is ~126 at ~7300PRM New tires being Avon 245/50/13 put me into ~136mph as they are a bigger diameter 22.65 vs 20.97 Unrelated to that, but big fan of the first gear going to ~45mph.

Going coast to coast without a clue

Have never fastened my bottom ones either. When I was at the track and concerned about "extreme" speeds I made sure that the lip at the bottom was going under the chassis tube for extra grip. -

Any pictures of the trip so far? -
I'm not even in the market and I had a temptation to add another... Looks like I'd have to get into a pretty long line though :seeya:

Bump. Hows the progress been?

Congrats on your preliminary sale within the week. Nice looking 7 for a great price.

2020 Annual Sevens Event with NJMP Drivers Club – October 17/18
Vovchandr replied to Croc's topic in National Events
My car survived just fine this year. Discovered one mechanical failure towards the end of the day and it was not what I expected Ive been hearing chattering at the end of the straight from left front tire. Thought to myself that maybe I'm locking up the front wheel and I was hearing it skipping on the road Put more attention towards it on the next lap and discovered my problem and pulled into the pits. Big heads fasteners failed on the fender. Not the glue like last year. The actual fasteners. Very lucky to not have lost it. Same fender as last year btw. Not sure what's causing extra stress on that side. Last year glue failed AND hard mount/screws have failed. This year metal failed. Right side is fine. Strange. -
Welcome! I knew the car looked familiar (see background) Sharp looking 7. Surprised to see polished windshield surround instead of black with this type of color scheme however. I think this might be the first 7 close enough to my neck of the woods that I can meet up with on a whim within reasonable driving distance. I don't see the owner posting here but relay to him interest in meeting up next season next time you guys have an exchange.

FYI, I believe he's found a car.

Newly setup "baby" camera did very well to elimanate the constant worry about the cargo. Trailer did well on the maiden voyage. A few cabinets, race rampa and a threshold plate will help make it more useful.

More Porsche "1st car - Where we are now" "2nd car - where we started" "3rd car - Engineers that complained about rear engine design were told, "if you think you can make it better than do it!" "We didn't expect them to actually do it"

A few phone photos before taking on the task of going over *checks notes* 2000+ pictures?? Paige??? [emoji15]

Insanity, madness, ludicrousness. It feels like during the build you checked off the top box including the secret boxes that turn it up to 11 not shown to "regular" customers. We know it will take the power/speed title, pretty sure you're also taking the invoice crown from the certain orange Cat.

Amazing man cave. Thank you for sharing. I see you have the official Caterham square badge too, instead of the roundel. You don't see that too often.

Personal anecdote in regards to the Atom. Fell in love with it years ago after the infamous TG episode with Clarkson having his face destroyed. Soon after there was a local with one. Ended up with a Caterham and couldn't be happier. There is now another local with a super fast limited edition Atom. If I were to have a track only car, I'd probably chose the Atom for the same reasons I'm very happy as an owner of the Caterham. It just makes a better car, arguably a worse track weapon (legacy frame instead of new bottom up engineering, front engine instead of mid/rear, less Aero, less power etc) However driving 7 on the street is a different ballgame. It feels much more compact (exterior and interior). You sit IN the Atom instead of feeling like you're wearing the car like the 7. Atom roll bars are high (shoulder level) and the interior is much more spacious. On the 7 you feel much more involved with the elements due to how the frame is designed. You can touch the ground as you're sitting in the car (can't do that in the Atom) Comfort wise just a few features go a long way. Atom is essentially a motorcycle you drive feature wise. Cold? you get cold. Rain? you get wet (actually wetter and colder than a bike on which you at least have proper gear typically). Caterham is a transformer in regards to elements. Some Brits drive them year round, including winter (few crazies). Summer? No windshield, no doors (maybe half doors). A little colder or want highway? Put windshield on. Rain? Put a half hood on. Rain and cold? Half hood and doors and then turn on your heat. Etc. As far as storage, its laughably small but it's still more storage than Atom if you want to plan a long drive.
