  1. I would be interested, possibly leaving from NJMP event to get down to NC/TN by 7-7-17? Don't know how much time I have to organize anything too big remotely though...but perhaps some other folks would like to caravan?
  2. It's hard to believe that about 10 years ago we started the the club and used Mazda's USA7s forum to organize a national-level meet to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Colin Chapman's four-wheeled motorbike. With my vintage Seven slowly coming back together and the weather starting to improve here in NJ, I thought about 7-7-7 and the friendships and memories made around the little cars we love. If we want to try for another meet of that scale, we should really start now...could be a standalone event or maybe piggyback on top of an existing annual event like NJMP thing Mike, Tom, and company have been organizing for years now. With my daughter's fencing commitments ongoing, I need another side project like I need a hole in my engine block, but thought I'd throw this out there and see if anyone is excited about trying to organize another 7-7-7. Discuss...
  3. Man, stinks that the fencing nationals (at least my daughter's events) run over this weekend 2016. Was great to see so many old faces/new cars last year.
  4. A dark blue newish Caterham parked at the Pittstown Inn in the last week or so? Anyone from the forum?
  5. Sorry to thread crash, but wanted to tell Dingo that his inbox is full...I just tried to reply to PM and it bounced with a "full" message. -A
  6. @coffeebreak: The thing about separate east and west meets is that it sort of defeats the goal of a "national" event. In 2017, I won't have anyone graduating (from college or high school) but will most likely be VERY tied up with Summer Nationals (fencing...with one of my kids) the week before the Fourth of July. Which begs another question for the group...."Anyone interested in helping organize a meet?"
  7. Wayne- I sent you a PM yesterday. -Al
  8. To Russ's point...haven't there been 2 Colorado LOGs in recent years (including this years)?
  9. Skip- I would not call Alabama that close to me in NJ! (In fact, Birmingham AL would be a 2-3 day trailer from both you and I.) I am open to other locations (including Branson, MO as we had tried to do a few years ago) at this point...but IMO, what's best for the BULK of the attendees is the important thing...and I do think that the group (wherever they are located) doing the organizing gets some say in it. I think I could organize a ToTD meet, if not easily, then at least easier than one West of the Mississippi. Tom and Mike's event has pulled people from fairly far away...and so did 7-7-7 (though that was a "big" milestone with the 50th anniversary and all). Generally speaking, the various contingents that make up the club have their favorite Se7en activities as well...with the East Coasters being more into track days, the DC gang into Auto-X (though many now do track time, too), and the West Coasters (like Gert and Bill G.) doing more touring stuff. A national type meet needs to try and meet the interests of all parties...or again, the bulk of the Se7ening community. -Al
  10. FWIW, I think organizing something at Tail of the Dragon would be easier (at least if I were to be helping with planning), since we have some connections/resources we could leverage from 7-7-7.
  11. Folks- I know I've been dormant for a few years now as other aspects of my life have taken precedence, but I got a real charge out of dropping in on the NJMP event last weekend and was thinking perhaps we try for another "large format" meet. Knowing how long the planning cycle can be, I think putting 7-7-17 is not a terrible date to shoot for. There are club members and Se7ens all over the country, so a more central location is probably better — realizing that no matter what location we pick, someone's going to have a long drive. Starting this thread in the General discussion to attract the most eyeballs...but will move/start a new one in "National Events" if enough people are up for it. If you are interested, please chime in below with any thoughts/suggestions. -Al P.S.Just to have something to react to, here is an outline of one possible event (note, I have not checked with Barber on availability/doability...just thinking out loud and trying to have a more centrally located place than Tail of the Dragon): Barber Motorsports Park 3-Day Weekend One Trackday One Auto-X One "Carshow" At least one group drive
  12. Is there such a thing as a "dirty trailer queen"? (Keep it clean, this is a family show folks!) I had just flown in from San Jose late Friday night, but wanted to see what the trackway that Tom and Mike started a few years ago had turned into. So I woke up at 3 AM California time, loaded SB1341 on a trailer, and drove down with my kids. 100% worth it. Nice to see some old friends from the 7-7-7 (and earlier!) days like Scott Lentz, Michael D., Norm B., and Mike M. — and also make some new ones. I'm so glad this has turned into a regular thing and hope it continues for years to come (and I hope to drop in again). Kudos to Tom and Mike for their vision, organization, effort, and good humor always. -Al
  13. Figured someone had to bring a bonafide Lotus (well, mostly, sort of...) to the party to keep things classy. ;-P I'm planning on being there to spectate and have lunch on Saturday. Trailering my 1961 Series 2 for show and tell (not tracking it) and bringing my kids...those of you who remember them from 7-7-7 will be shocked to see the young women they have grown into. Older one will be a college freshman in September. Wife begged off as we are hosting people for dinner at home that evening and she needs the time to prep. Looking forward to seeing old friends and making some new ones!
  14. Did Karl get a new car? Regarding Bessie, I've gotten her out on the road just a few times so far this year, but every time reminds me of what I love about Se7ening....
  15. Looks like I missed out on an excellent time...was too tuckered out from driving back to NJ from Columbus (Fencing Summer Nationals with my younger girl, now nearly 14) in one shot on Friday. Thanks for sharing the pix! Tom...are you selling the yellow car/did you get a new one?
  16. Pretty sure you pay taxes in state where car is first registered. When I bought Orange, I opted to just do it in NJ...if I had the builder/dealer reg in AZ, I would have had to cough up the difference when it was brought to NJ regardless.
  17. "We have had a tradition on this forum not to negatively compare cars, not to negatively comment on the other person's asking price, and in general to be a bit more gentlemanly in or comments regarding the vehicles and their manufacturers. We are supposed to be supportive of all thing SEVEN." +1 on this, Jerry. (Yes, Al Navarro lives! Took the car out for a short blat the other night....gosh Se7ens are automotive crack, aren't they?)
  18. FYI, I think this is going to be an "official" USA7s meeting.
  19. @transalpian: She's an E, earned at the Richmond NAC last April. She ended last season #12 on the NRPS list for Y12 WE (her first season of epee after starting with foil) and is currently T22 on the Y14 WE list. I will now step off my "proud dad" podium. What club do your kids fence out of…HOF?
  20. I wondered if someone would spot SB1341 among all the exotica over at Wil & Sandy's. Been tied up with my younger daughter's fencing this fall…but will definitely pick the car up in time to squeeze a few blats in before the weather truly turns.
  21. BTW, the more the merrier. And please be as candid as possible. We're trying to get an accurate read, not a pat on the head.
  22. Folks- Looking for your help evaluating two TV concepts for a client I am working with. Please look in the “Club Matters” section for threads labeled “TV Commercial Test — Part X”. Because of the way the forum software works, I have to ask each of the 4 questions in separate threads. http://usa7s.com/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=35 Thanks in advance for your help. Hoping to close the poll on Monday some time. Apologize for using the “Club Matters” section for this, but I wanted to keep the concepts behind the paywall. I have cleared this usage with the forum admin. Best, Al Navarro Acting President
  23. Folks- I just posted something in the "Club Matters" sub forum...I think that's only available to paid members/supporters. Nothing earth shattering, but just a heads up on some plans for the coming year. Happy to be back in Seven stewardship. -Al Navarro Acting USA7s Club President
  24. I think I am definitely in for this one.
  25. NVH columns usually have some sort of composited art. But here's a link to a scan on the Mint Advertising site: http://mintadvertising.com/news080613.php
