  1. Hey, Maybe that's where Kevin & Loren got the wings idea;)
  2. I read some guys email correspondence to a Nigerian scam... it was hilarious. He had the Nigerian writing & rewriting contracts...going to the next town to pick up a Western Union check (that never came, had the guy go like 5 times in a week). He told another scammer, with terrible writing, that he was going to use the money to start a porn business and that the person should come over and be in his movies. The scammer didn't know what porn was but thought it would be great to be in the movies... Wish I was creative enough to screw with these people..
  3. Sweet! Just drive there and trailer it home:thumbs: Registered as a '59 might help some people too.
  4. I see Bakersfield isn't giving away too many of it's fun roads
  5. Used it for past motorcycle rides, good stuff
  6. All wheel drive:shocked: That should be interesting. Looks like your going after the "badass category"
  7. When you were asking $39, is that what you would of sold a new turnkey with those options? I'm going to assume you have more into it (with labor). As a demo, I would think someone would want to take 5 or 10 grand off the turnkey cost of buying a brand spanking new one of similar quality. Also, if your just starting out (I don't know much about your company) I would imagine you need to start cheaper than most other companies to get people to take a chance on your product and build up a base of loyal customers who can spread the word and promote your car. How much less depends on what it takes to get someone to risk their hard earned money. I don't have an idea on that. Thats how I chose the Ultralite; looked at styling, price, talked to owners, reviewed reliability/performance, options like weatherkit (would of been nice to drive them all but that's not likely)... Just my 2 cents, from someone who recently bought a 7. Hope that helps. Your car does have a lot going for it. Good luck!
  8. That particular one is for sale and it's their demo, with all the trick stuff. They wanted 39 big ones for it http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/Default.aspx?g=posts&t=2197
  9. Obviously I didn't make it down there. Anybody show up? Pics?
  10. Way to go! I live about a half hour away from Buttonwillow. I'll plan on being out there June 8th to cheer you on.... it's going to be hot, suppose to have our first 100 degree day this Friday.
  11. 3rd place, against those cars, would be awesome  :hurray:
  12. Your right Roll, No problem registering any 7 kit under SB100. It's just they give out only 500 and every DMV in the State calls Sacramento at the exact same day/time and their now all gone in a few hours. It's become a lottery (which I lost out on this year).
  13. MoPho, When I read the law it said you can't take a car that's already been registered and apply for SB100. It's one or the other when first registering the car. I think that's to keep people who have the emissions equipment from modifying their car. I don't know how they handle already registered cars from another state. They'll require a smog check and I'm sure it won't pass the car or motor's model year (that's why people buy out of state cars with a pre 72 registration title, though it's technically illegal). Hopefully, they will give you the option to register SB100 in January. I imagine people move here with this issue all the time. Without SB100 you have to register by year of car, which can be the year the replica represents or the engine; whichever is newer. That's how cobras can get registered... because the small block ford has been around that long. SB100 lets you get by with just the year the replica body represents. Technically, a person could put an old pinto motor in a new 7 and register it pre 72. Then, after the referee check and all the paperwork is done, change the motor and since their exempt from smog it would never be checked again:leaving: . As far as Jay Leno or someone with a lot of cars and $$$... I always thought you could just start a car sale business (if your a collector you probably buy - sale anyway) and throw a dealer plate on any car you wanted to take out for a spin.
  14. Just an update on registration as I now have the car. I've had mixed results on extensions with the local DMV but I think I've got it sorted to get extensions thru this year and take another shot at SB100 Jan-09:cool: Went to the State DMV referee, as required, last week. Figured it would be an exercise to see exactly what it would take to be smog legal in the Golden State. Well it's pretty much impossible to put a late model (DBII smog type) engine in a different car. Besides, stock or CARB approved intake/exhaust (manifold to catalytic converter) and stock gas evap system (charcoal cannister), the computer has to register no trouble lights, this even includes things not emissions related like a speedometer error *even though you have a working speedometer in the dash). Plus stock gas tank & rear differential are required.. Seems to me things would be much simpler and just as effective if they would only require the tailpipe to meet the limits and allow a generic type of gas evaporation system for fuel vapors. Even if you had to weld on the tank neck, with it's special gas cap set up. Oh well, too much common sense I guess. I'd be very leery of purchasing any car already registered in another state unless it's registered as a "pre72" car or uses an engine block from that year or earlier. I'm pretty confident things will work out in January (at least odds-wise). So it's happy trails for now, even got the car insured with the same restrictions as my other cars:thumbs:
  15. I've seen it on Ebay before as well. Looks like a nice car. California DMV is so restrictive I believe a car has to have 7500 miles to be considered used and thus be able to register it from another state. Plus, cars already registered can't apply for SB100 (not sure about out of State though) Even then I doubt it will be exempt from having to have original smog equipment from whatever model year the car was registered as. Pretty much has had to be registered as a pre-72 car from what I can find out. Too bad, we miss out on a lot of nice cars:nonod:
  16. that looks great! Like Athens said... I'm sure you still have a list of things you'd like to do (as we all do). Now that you got the ECM, you just need to start saving for the turbo;)

  18. That probably didn't phase Travis.... that kid has got the biggest set of balls. Did you see the double back flip on a dirt bike or the stunt where he jumps out of an airplane in just shorts, socks and a can of Red Bull for a commercial? Then a guy jumps after him and hooks up to a harness that's under his shorts..
  19. Look forward to going myself... I see those videos and kind of get lost seeing all those cones. Hopefully easier actually being there. Glad you had a blast
  20. Thanks Roll, My plan for this car was to be able to drive to Buttonwillow and Willowsprings for a day of hot laps (don't know how realistic this is). Bakersfield is pretty much in the middle, a little over an hour to WS & less to BW:thumbs: Have done a couple of track days on my sportbike at Willow Spring's big track. I'd love to meet you guys and get some tips on driving these things. Keep me posted PS - If you spend a few days up here I can show you the roads that MoPho is talking about (spent the last 5 years doing them on a sportbike:eek:
  21. Congrats MoPho, If you ever feel like getting out of the LA mountains and the coast (can't imagine why anyone would) we have some great roads in the foothills of Bakersfield (believe it or not). Not a lot of CHP etc either. Of course, don't bother in the summer months unless your awefully early in the morning:)
