  1. FIXED! Fuel hose came off the fuel pump inside the tank (thanks Loren). Clamped on tight now:thumbs:. Might wait a little longer before testing it with another spin;)

Thanks, Yeah, a little conservative on the color... now if I was building one every year like Loren;) Brian said he could do it either way and asked what I preferred. Always wanting to be different, I said sure. I have the front fenders, just waiting for the brackets (I think it has new type spindles as well).
  3. Yeah, Mine was the guinea pig on a few things... STI rear end, in-board shocks, electric adjustable pedals (I guess they come with 2005+ S2Ks). The weatherkit and dealing with other vendors has given him problems as well. It's definately taken longer than expected. But still way faster than if I would of lumbered through it. I'm really stoked about the car. Just hope the DMV doesn't keep me from driving until January (I have a plan B & C).

  5. Thought I'd show off some pics of "spinner"... I kind of pressed Brian to bring it to the Knotts Show and a couple parts people let him down before coming. He's shipping me the front fender braces and there's a little uphostery work to still be done. Nothing worth me refusing the car and driving to Texas in another week or so (not at the current gas prices.:ack: ). I'll post the rest in Member's Rides Section http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/2102239038_motorcycle gear 001.jpghttp://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1575531416_motorcycle gear 004.jpg
  6. I'm not too worried, pretty sure it's something simple (like an inertia switch... electrical). Left Brian an email as he's driving back home. I'm sure he'll be helpful. Thanks again
  7. Thanks guys, I can hear the fuel pump kick in when I turn on the battery switch. I can actually see it's wiring connections and it looks to be good. The car turns over normally - no weird noises from the engine etc.. I can replace parts but I'm no good at figuring this stuff out (thats why I had it built). I wouldn't know which wires to check (lot of stuff on these computerized cars). Might have to take to garage. I'm kind of glad it happened now and not at an autocross across town or somewhere out in the twisties. I'll give it a good once over again for loose connections etc.. before taking other action. Was just hoping someone else had this experience before. Thanks again. Probably should of put this in the "Tech" section. Sorry
  8. Got to admit it was fun while it lasted. I'm so happy about getting the car I'm not that upset about this problem (long as it doesn't turn out to be major engine issue). It's a 2005 Honda S2000; all fuel injection/computer etc.. I saw what looks like the plug you hook up for diagnosis and was wondering if it's the same as Ford, Chevy etc... that I could go to Kragen's, where you can check one out and read a code error or something. Don't know what I'd do from there but it would be a start.
  9. Well I met Brian (nice guy) at Knotts and we sealed the deal. Trailered the car home and had to take it for a spin (more on the spin in a minute). Drove for about half an hour, giving a couple rides, getting used to the car. So I came up to an intersection out here in the rural area that goes on to a very wide, empty, new street... plenty of room to screw up safely. And I did.... too much gas fish tail and end up back wards, laughing the whole time. Didn't kill the engine but halfway thru turning back around it dies (about 30 seconds after spinout). Turns over but won't start. Couldn't find any lose connections. Luckily I still have my friends trailer and am only about half a mile away. So, it's in my garage and I'm asking you guys for some advice on what to check. It has fuel, all electrics work... fuel pump is running (plenty of gas in tank). I'll take some pics tomorrow.
  10. Thanks Mike, Hmm, wonder where the front fenders are (must of run out of time)... guess I'll find out tomorrow. Mike, still have that offer for a ride in my car for a ride in your plane;)
  11. I'm thinking of leaving Knotts around 2 or 3 Sunday afternoon (leave Bakersfield late morning). I'm going to trailer it back (don't want to figure out the car and LA freeway traffic at the same time). Hope I can find a place down there to park with the trailer, maybe I can bluff my way into the display area... I don't know what Brian's bringing but mine will be black with weatherkit. PS- Huge West Coast National Hot Rod show in Bakersfield this weekend.
  12. Just checked with my carrier, Farmers Insurance, and they want $1200 a year. That includes the same coverage/umbrella as my other cars; can drive as much as I want. I'll check with Hagerty. And maybe switching everything to State Farm (4 cars, house & umbrella).
  13. Brian, of WCM, is attending the Knotts Berry Car Show this weekend. He'll be bringing my car there as well... kind of a win-win with him having a car to show and me not having to drive to Texas to pick it up:thumbs: Only hitch is I don't have a SB100 Cert so the fun begins with the DMV:skep:
  14. Somebody's going to get a great deal on this... 20 grand for a Birkin with 800 miles (and California registered). One day left:willy:
  15. Well that'll give your left leg a workout :leaving:
  16. Good luck! Obviously we're all rooting for you (doh!, thought you were starting the race, nevermind)
  17. Kevin, Brian is finishing it up (installing weather kit this week). I guess I'm kind of a wuss as far as not tackling the build myself and wanting top/doors as an option. Talked to Loren several months back and went with an STI rear end and 9 inch wide rear wheels (along with extra insulation).... just in case I get the urge to supercharge later down the road. Never seem to leave well enough alone;)
  18. My S2K is sooo close to being done... can't wait!

    Killer Type 2

That's funny... I dont know about driver's skill but it's a heck of an engineering feat. I love that kind of stuff,... kind of like these tiny 7s doing damage to much more celebrated cars (with the necessary driver's skill).

  23. Welcome aboard Dan. I just retired from our City's Fire Department at the end of last year. Done the motorcycle thing (both dirt & sportbikes). Fixed up a Lotus Europa in the 80s and am switching back to 4 wheels with an Ultralite (hopefully a safer way to still go fast). Loren's another firefighter, from Texas, that's a pretty serious competitor with this car. Again, welcome.
  24. Sorry to hear about the car, seems you don't have much left that you haven't tightened, repaired/replaced.... Nice wagon:thumbs: do the rear wheels rub? Here's my other ride (besides PU & Expedition) ]http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1705460366_IMG_1302a.JPG
  25. I give him respect because bikes (at least in the stock class he was in) don't have traction control, anti-lock brakes and god knows what other driver aides F1 had when he raced. This F1 season should be interesting without that stuff.
