Kwilley, I sat in a new Caterham SV in Denver, @ Rocky Mtn. and had to move the seat FWD to reach the pedals. I also had plenty of room for size 12 shoes. I think it would be a buy & drive for you. I'm 6'1" and don't fit my Birkin too well although I now have the pedal area sorted out.

Here you go:

The reason he was driving so fast was trying to get away from the #**% following him with the radio.

With my size and much abused body, coupled with some years I can still get in with the top up. Add the side curtains and the difficulty doubles. It is still doable, but once in I don't want to get in & out. With the cold weather I have been running with the top off & sides on and the heater works well. I need more fur on the roof though, as the top of the head chills down.

I sold my Ultimate 10-200 about 3 months ago and the roll rate was over 360' per second. It would out roll an Extra 300 or Pitts.

Where is he working at after this?

Robbert, I have one in the hanger. Gary

With the heater & sides on the Birkin has been great so far here in Ohio. I put my winter tires on the rear to help with cold grip (V710's) they do help. Snow, salt and cold rain and it will stay home though. I'm waiting for info on new parts prior to taking it off the road for slight mods.

I had thought the live axle in the Birkin I purchased would be a problem for street driving. Everything I had for years was IRS. The live axle works very well in the car, I wouldn't go through any work to change it even if it was free. I drive on many uneven roads with a fair share of bumps, the car handles great, except for Tirestones (Firestones). The ride is also quite good, better thsn expected. I'll wait till spring for some fresh soft rubber, but looking for another set of tires & wheels now.

Robert, It could be worth the time to call Dick Brink at Texas Motor works as he has a few driving Birkins listed as 1967 Lotus. I'm not sure how they are tidled though. If you carry that through & get colector plates, it should end your problem. One county south of you there isn't an echeck requirement. (817) 461-7431 or (817) 233-4043. dick@texasmotorworks7.com I have never met him, but just purchased a spare tire mount from him.

Robert, the pleasure was mine. I think you will enjoy the Birkin. With me it was a coin toss between the Birkin & Caterham, and wanting an WCM as #1 choice. I'm still trying to get a cost on HP for the Birkin, if it comes in ok I'll be out of the market for a WCM. Now that I have the Birkin pedal box sorted out, I do enjoy it. There is a performance Swap Meet at the Stark County fair grounds this week end, with vendors inside as well. I don't know if they will have Zetec items though.

As an owner of a 7 type (Birkin) and an X owner of a Cobra (CSX3300), I find the 7 type more to my liking now. I find I can have more fun at speeds below 100 and with the Cobra and most others it was all about much higher speeds. Having had one too many crotch rockets, I learned the general population wasn't thinking in those speeds. I now have a great time in this little crude, cold, tight ride. When home, it is the ride of choice. Still driving it in the 40' days. For me it must be age related.

NJ no longer friendly to new Se7en registrations...
gjslutz replied to Al N.'s topic in General Sevens Discussion
I know of many A/C that were regestered in Del. Corps. to dodge some state taxes. In AZ. If you purchased a car from a PVT. party and lived in AZ. it was a tax free XFER. Anyone with a good friend in another state could likely solve this reg. problem. Be glad we don't get all the Goverment we pay for. Like kick a 2nd grader out of school for drawing a stick person with a gun, or a good student for having a butter knife in her locker, by error. Her life is now shot. -
For my $.02, I find this forum quite easy to find the most active posts. I check into the General Sevens Discussion and look at the last posts in bold. A few of the other sites I visit use this and I find it helpful, great work folks.

New member looking for local owners?

Skip, I'm down in the Springs, @ my son's house. We didn't bring the Birkin, with what the wife travels with I would have needed a large trailer. Thanks for the offer though. Gary -

Hi Robert and Mary. I'm in Colorado until the 20th or 24th. I have a very nice Birkin S3. I live at the Beach City Airport about 15 miles S. of Massillon, Oh. I want to make a large jump in HP and the Birkin is too nice to mess up. So it You are welcome to stop down when I return home to check size & fit, as well as just get some first hand views of what is out there. my home # is the same area code as yours-236-5041 or cell while I'm away: 704-5686 Gary -
Mazda likely you have thought of this: Existing condition or new? What has changed if new condition? I would think it would be: Loose or deflecting in suspension or in steering, ball joints? Loose wheel bearings, brake pads chatter.

RV-4 Mike, is the AZ car still for sale?

Jim Having had an aluminum Cobra # CSX3300 and some 12 cylinder cars and many 911s and others. I always had my eye on an seven type. I just never got around to punching this seven ticket. Now that I'm a recovering top end junkie this little Birkin is a great car. I no longer have the lust for big speed numbers, but still like handling and quick neat cars. I think age and being unemployed has something to do with it. The seven type is a great toy. I'm not certain I'll ever get hard core as some here, to do long distances with it though. That could change, but I doubt it. I didn't ever do bike trips either, just local blasts. I'm still trying to make the Birkin fit, if I do it will be time for more HP. I love the light weight!

I would think the back fire would indicate lean mixture. That along with the fact you need to hold higher RPM till warmed up would make me think that. My Zetec with the Emerald ECU and Raceline TB’s has no cold problems, although it has only seen 40’ during the time I owned it this past month. If you are uncomfortable with adding fuel, you could try to hand choke (reduce the air) into the TB on starting cold. Anything to block the air should work. Then as above it would be the ECU problem to solve. Gary

Kar120c thanks for educating us not in the know. It saved me $$ from purchasing some parts for my Birkin as well as my A/C. It is great to have this info prior to the money leaving my pocket, thanks.

Gert, thanks for the info. I ordered some at a cycle shop today, $20 for the pair. Even a poor guy like me could afford them. Gary

I think it is. They screw into the screen stanchion, and hang out some from the photos I have seen. It also looks like they are bent up some. Gary
