busa, rotus uses a tank that mounts above -and in front of the axle. so it has to be a custom tank.

The BEST response I have had so far... Went to an Interstate Battery store looking for Odyssey batteries... did not have the car with me. The fellow that was there did not seem like the sharpest knife in the drawer. Naturally he asked for make and model of my car. Not wanting to go through the whole Lotus 7 -> replica -> custom job thing, I simply replied it's a kit car - just show me the smallest batteries you have. So he yells out loud - and I'm not kidding - "Hey Mike, got a guy here with a "Kit" car. what kind of battery do those take? I've never heard of a "Kit" car..." :banghead: Best response I've heard so far from a person actually looking at the car is "can it go 55? can you take it on the highway?" :lol:

so i'm sitting at the airport this morning with my 7 shirt on, and some guy taps me on the shoulder and asks if my shirt is about the Lotus 7. Proceeds to tell me he once sat in a "Rotus"... I was like "you don't say" :lol: we talked for a few minutes. Sitting at Mopho's place now

Arya, I came to the realization today that the body has to finally go back on - as you have been saying. People used to ask me "what kind of car is that?" all the time. The last two times, the question is "did you make that yourself?" It's a subtle but noticeable difference. :lol:

The registration issue is a state by state thing, so it's best to specify which state you're in and see what others have experienced. BEFORE you start your build, get together with some locals, look the cars over, get rides in them, see what you like and don't like. The 3rd best thing about a seven (behind the performance, and the fellow owners) is how easy they are to work on.
