  2. Welcome aboard... do you have a pic of your 67 E Type?
  3., but I always reserve the right for a turbo
  4. Sorry, just saw this post. Negatives are due to weight of the wheel / rotor combo, not suspension design: The car is rough over bumps I've had to stiffen up the shocks to prevent car from going into front wheel hop under braking. I think some of this could be cured by going to slightly stiffer springs, and backing off on the shocks just a tad... at least on the rebound, but I'm not sure. The positive? Seems like the car has endless grip. At the dragon, I was giving Boxologist a joy ride, and going at a decent pace. I under estimated one left hander, and thought I was gonna be in trouble, but just kept cranking the wheel and she just kept turning. I'm fairly certain the car would have started pushing with its old setup. And, that was with Zero static camber, something I didn't discover until after I got back from the dragon (I had raised the ride height to get her on the trailer, and forgot to lower her back down, hence, loss of static camber). Also, the brakes feel REALLY nice now. I always thought my original brakes were marginal at best, requiring alot of pedal effort to lock up the wheels, even after modifying the lever ratio on the pedal and changing master cylinders. The same masters and pedal, hooked up to the dual piston calipers and 13.1" rotors can really clamp down. C5 vettes have excellent brakes and weigh almost twice as much. I figure my brakes will stand up to track duty very well. And the best part... rotors are $20 from NAPA :yesnod:.
  5. Good luck. Good to see everyone getting out and enjoying the nice weather. Great time of the year
  6. http://images.easyart.com/i/prints/rw/en_easyart/sm/7/1/The-Simpsons---D-oh--Mini-Posters-71133.jpg Looking at her pic, and considering she is 30, I REALLY feel old now.
  7. I'm sure it will do just fine sitting in your garage all winter
  8. wish i could make it out there. this should be on my calendar for next year. The car has been pretty reliable now, and with a proper roll cage, I think i'll be good to go
  9. 2nd that for the RA-1. I had them for over a year (about 6000 miles), and about 40 autox runs. Still had alot of tread left, and just as grippy as day 1. Now Robert has them, and they still have quite a bit of life left.
  10. how long did it take you to type this post?
  11. Jeff did those Birkins have full windshields? based on what I found this last weekend, if you take off the windshield, the footwell stays completely cool - and in my car, it used to get so hot, that if you wore sandals, you could not keep your foot on the gas pedal. I'm not exaggerating.
  12. I use 17's and 18's, so I'm good to go.
  13. I will probably try the Toyo R888 next time, if they come in my sizes http://www.justracing.com/features/2007_toyo_announces_r888
  14. I'm trying to con my brother into towing the car for me out there :yesnod: BTW, my car doesn't have keys, so you could jump in and fire her up. Maybe I should go install a security system now
  15. That's awesome. The driving instructor at the DC SCCA region autox school has driven my C5 on a number of occasions. It always amazes me how much more he can get out of my car, just getting in it cold, first run... and the whole time he's talking to me as he is driving. Hopefully he can try Frankn7 soon.
  16. One day Superman was feeling a bit horny. So, he began to ask his super hero friends for ideas on where he could get a bit of action. "Hey Batman! Who's good in the sack?" "Well Superman, everyone knows that Wonder Woman is the best sex in comicland. Why don't you try her?" replied Batman. "I'd love to, but Wonder Woman and I are friends. So I don't really want to take advantage of her." "Damn shame," said Batman as he waved goodbye to Superman and drove off. Ten minutes later Superman was flying low over a city when he saw the Green Lantern patching up a building. He flew down. "Hey Hal, I'm looking for a little action. You're a swinging bachelor, who's the best babe in comicland?" "Hey, Superman! Everyone knows that Wonder Woman is far and away the best lay in Comicland, why don't you try her?" "Well, we're sort of friends," Superman said, "but I didn't realize she had gotten around so much" and he flew off in frustration. Twenty minutes later Superman was flying over a field when he saw Wonder Woman lying naked, in the middle of the field, with her legs apart and up in the air. Superman was tempted. He thought to himself, "I'm faster than a speeding bullet, I can be in and out of there before she even knows I'm here." So with a blur and a sonic boom he was down, in and gone. Wonder Woman stared up into the sky with a dazed expression. "What the hell was that??" she exclaimed. "I don't know," said the Invisible Man as he rolled off, "but my butt is killing me."
  17. I have yet to power shift my car. The closest I've gotten is when I tried 0-60... even then, it was more of an aggressive shift than a power shift, and the car got a little sideways. As the power goes up, it pays to learn to roll in the throttle.
  18. spinaroooo?
  19. Could this give you 2nd thoughts?
  20. I meant to ask you if you had them on yet. Glad you like them... Great tires
  21. Count me in for RA1's as well... I might put 5 or 6 thousand miles a year on Frankn7, so wear is not a problem for me. I'd rather take the extra grip.
  22. People are afraid to let me drive I think http://www.digitalcorvettes.com/forums/images/smilies/huh.gif So far, only Folis has driven my car from the forum, and he had a grin on his face... then I reminded him that was only 40% throttle . I think Box and Solder_Guy are the only other members to get rides in Frankn7, as well as Arya. And I've driven Al's TT, but we won't talk about that :leaving:
  23. This post is prompted by a question Bob asked me this weekend about steering feel and feedback. My only other sports car is a C5, which according to magazines doesn't give you very much feedback or feel. I used to have a Prelude Si, but since it's FWD, I don't think that's the king of steering feedback either. I have test driven a 3 series the "king" of steering feel according to many rags, although not very hard... just a few corners at speed. I have to be honest - I didn't have that AHA moment where I was like "So, THAT's what it's supposed to feel like". Frankn7 seems to steer fine (once I fixed the play issue). She has alot of raw mechanical grip. When you turn the wheel, the car turns... turn more, the car turns more. I have yet to feel either the front or the rear step out in a turn (unless go-pedal was involved), so perhaps i'm not pushing it hard enough. So, I guess I'm not getting the feedback or feel that everyone talks about, or maybe I'm getting it and don't know it. Enough rambling.
  24. I see us... On the right, 2nd from bottom
