  1. Here is my take on it. Unless the video is either posted here, or specifically mentions the site/club (or the name of the event tied to the site/club) during the video or in the text description, it becomes simply the actions of one person driving down the road. There is really nothing the club can do to prevent such an action anyway. So, if you feel inclind to point the vid at your speedo, feel free to do so, without naming the club, the event, or posting it here. This isn't a policy yet, but my feeling on the subject. We should discuss this topic here, come up with a policy, and try to enforce it - I can deal with what's posted on the site, but the best we can do is ask for cooperation of members regarding posting elsewhere. I just saw the vid in question... I think that's Km/hr
  2. I wish I were this creative  YouTube Video
  3. I also have the option of going with a regular C5 wheel, which is 1" narrower and 2 lbs lighter (plus the matching tire weight savings)...
  4. I *might* get a 2nd set of wheels for Frankn7. They will be the same wheels as my current setup, 17"X9.5" front, 18"X10.5" back. I can't go to smaller than 17" fronts due to size of disc and caliper. I will replace my current set with RA1 or 888 for road use. If I buy a 2nd set, what should I put on them? I plan on running autocrosses, and a couple of track days. Obviously I need something that is really soft and builds heat quickly. Am I better off with slicks for autox, then run RA1s for the track and the street, or slicks for autox and track, and run RA1s on the street? What compounds should I be looking at for either autox or track use? looking at popular tires for vettes probably won't help me much b/c i'm 1400 lbs lighter.
  5. hmmm... it would make sense if the number he was looking for represented rolling resistance of the drivetrain, which would be different.
  6. Ford Focus stops faster than a Caterham R400 according to morons at AutoCar. See for yourself. Do they even look at this crap before posting it? At least Ariel Atom tied the Focus in braking
  7. so, it's a nice morning here, and I had some free time, so I figured I should put the top down and enjoy a drive and a cup of coffee. The local starbucks is in a shopping center. As I'm sitting outside, enjoying my coffee, this lady pulls up in a Volvo. The lot has big light poles, and the 4 parking spaces adjecent to each pole have the little concrete curbs to keep people from hitting the poles. The lady pulls into one of these spots, and proceeds to not just hit the stop, but drive over it, with a loud metal crunching sound from under her car. At this point, I'm rolling my eyes at another female driver. But wait, there is more  As she is trying to backup over the curb again, there is a guy walking down the lot to his car... he is just about to clear this SUV (he can't see her yet), as she guns her engine and comes shooting out of her spot. Fortunately the guy stops. The she moves over a few inches, AND DOES THE SAME EXACT THING AGAIN!!! drives over the curb, with grinding from under her car  At this point, the guy is just standing there, refusing to cross  So she guns it again, backing up and comes shooting out. On the 3rd try she moves one spot over. As she's walking to Starbucks, I figured now is a good time to get in the car and go home, before she gets back into her wrecking machine. As I walk back to my car, this other lady in an Escalade pulls to within a foot of the side of my car... I'm about to give her the :skep:, but she is asking for directions. So I give her directions, and as I'm about to leave, this black dude comes up to me asking for money. Normally I have a policy against that, but the dude had just come out of the ER from across the street and needed money for a prescription. I walked him over to the pharmacy to pay the pharmacist the $14 he needed. It turns out Maryland has a prescription program for the uninsured, so the bill was $9. It's interesting that my copay with my $1200/month COBRA plan would have been $10  I paid for the guy's prescription, checked the lot twice for the psycho lady, and went on my way. Fun trip.
  8. I just sent you a PM with contact info.
  9. exposing the engine like that won't do the drag much good. Wouldn't a hump be a better solution? Still, that's something that can be done after purchase. it's a nice car.
  10. hmmm... i was gonna put off buying tires until next year.
  11. Um... NO  BTW, that engine sounds sweet, but does it have enough torque to undo a lugnut? (yankin' your chain) you made me drag out the crazy frog (the old page with Ferrari is no longer around, this requires a couple of clicks)
  12. hmmm... it's missing something (good timing, I just picked up a new mic to play with)
  13. Tom, thanks. This might motivate me to come join you guys for a few runs. Can you post up a link when registration opens?
  14. um, I *might* buy zero lift, but zero drag??? The headlight area alone doesn't look particularly aerodynamic to me. Maybe not all the pieces were on the car? The hood area looks finished, but the sides of the car look like there might be an outer panel. And the C4 chassis is pretty, well, shall we say, flexible.
  15. And that's before it hits the power band
  16. I don't see it in the link you posted
  17. adjusting power for wind resistance doesn't make any sense to me, unless he's trying to run your engine at very light load to simulate on the road fuel economy. power at the rear wheels is what it is, even on a windy day
  18. That's a 7 sticker.
  19. I have not been able to find the ball joint.
  20. Tom, is registration open? any seats left?
  21. Here are directions / address http://www.ripkenstadium.com/contact/directions/
  22. poor man's ferrari
