It is about a lot more. It's about an immigrant (legal or not) living in another country, and being offended by someone wearing the host country's flag. Exactly what is offensive about that? We have parade participants from many different countries march down main street on Memorial day. That's part of being open. This crap will make me want to discriminate. It's about a minority group refusing to blend in with the values of the country they want to live in, and expecting to be accommodated. I'm an immigrant. But above everything else, I'm an American. I still celebrate the Persian New Year, and don't find it offensive at all if others don't recognize that "national holiday". I guarantee you no school official will ask you to remove the American flag from your clothing on St. Patrick's day. Are you kidding? You are equating wearing something with the flag on it to wearing "White power" in a predominantly black school? Really? If I see a Hispanic wearing Red/White/Green on 4th of July sitting in my establishment, is it OK for me to say "hey Amigo, today is 4th of July. Turn that crap inside out or you're gonna get bounced." Cause YOU KNOW he was just wearing that to cause trouble, right?

How about this: My kids have to prove their vaccinations are in order EVERY YEAR before school starts. We have to have all the paperwork in a week before school starts. Do you think they have the nads to ask for proof of legal residency in schools up to a week before school starts? Nobody has to be detained. No paperwork? no school. And, there is a place where they can be justifiably offended if someone displays an American flag. It's called Mexico.

I'm betting more than half the white people in any normal school can prove the legality of their residency in fairly short order... say within 24 hours.

that might filter out half the school

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/afghanistan/article7113916.ece A BRITISH Army sniper has set a new sharpshooting distance record by killing two Taliban machinegunners in Afghanistan from more than a mile away. Craig Harrison, a member of the Household Cavalry, killed the insurgents with consecutive shots — even though they were 3,000ft beyond the most effective range of his rifle. “The first round hit a machinegunner in the stomach and killed him outright,” said Harrison, a Corporal of Horse. “He went straight down and didn’t move. “The second insurgent grabbed the weapon and turned as my second shot hit him in the side. He went down, too. They were both dead.” The shooting — which took place while Harrison’s colleagues came under attack — was at such extreme range that the 8.59mm bullets took almost three seconds to reach their target after leaving the barrel of the rifle at almost three times the speed of sound. The distance to Harrison’s two targets was measured by a GPS system at 8,120ft, or 1.54 miles. The previous record for a sniper kill is 7,972ft, set by a Canadian soldier who shot dead an Al-Qaeda gunman in March 2002. In a remarkable tour of duty, Harrison cheated death a few weeks later when a Taliban bullet pierced his helmet but was deflected away from his skull. He later broke both arms when his army vehicle was hit by a roadside bomb. Harrison was sent back to the UK for treatment, but insisted on returning to the front line after making a full recovery. “I was lucky that my physical fitness levels were very high before my arms were fractured and after six weeks in plaster I was still in pretty good shape,” he said. “It hasn’t affected my ability as a sniper.” Harrison, from Gloucestershire, was reunited in Britain with his wife Tanya and daughter Dani, 16, last month. Recalling his shooting prowess in Helmand province, he said: “It was just unlucky for the Taliban that conditions were so good and we could see them so clearly.” Harrison and his colleagues were in open-topped Jackal 4x4 vehicles providing cover for an Afghan national army patrol south of Musa Qala in November last year. When the Afghan soldiers and Harrison’s troop commander came under enemy fire, the sniper, whose vehicle was further back on a ridge, trained his sights on a Taliban compound in the distance. His L115A3 long-range rifle, the army’s most powerful sniper weapon, is designed to be effective at up to 4,921ft and supposedly capable of only “harassing fire” beyond that range. “We saw two insurgents running through its courtyard, one in a black dishdasha, one in green,” he said. “They came forward carrying a PKM machinegun, set it up and opened fire on the commander’s wagon. “Conditions were perfect, no wind, mild weather, clear visibility. I rested the bipod of my weapon on a compound wall and aimed for the gunner firing the machinegun. “The driver of my Jackal, Trooper Cliff O’Farrell, spotted for me, providing all the information needed for the shot, which was at the extreme range of the weapon.” Harrison killed one machinegunner with his first attempt and felled the other with his next shot. He then let off a final round to knock the enemy weapon out of action. Harrison discovered that he had set a new record only on his return to UK barracks nine days ago. The previous record was held by Corporal Rob Furlong, of Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, who was using a 12.7mm McMillan TAC-50 rifle. Tom Irwin, a director of Accuracy International, the British manufacturer of the L115A3 rifle, said: “It is still fairly accurate beyond 4,921ft, but at that distance luck plays as much of a part as anything.” News of Harrison’s success comes amid concern over a rival insurgent sharpshooter who in a five-month spree has killed up to seven British soldiers, including a sniper, in and around the Taliban stronghold of Sangin. In a later incident during the tour, Harrison’s patrol vehicle was hit 36 times during a Taliban ambush. “One round hit my helmet behind the right ear and came out of the top,” he said. “Two more rounds went through the strap across my chest. We were all very, very lucky not to get hurt.”

that's a beautiful car.

The way the Rotus is done is typical of all sevens.

1. I can't think of anyone who runs a front plate. A few have temporarily attached them and then removed after inspection. I've been driving mine in MD for 5 years, and talked to a few cops, and none of them have said anything about it yet - but I guess it's only a matter of time. If you want to mount it permanently, you have a couple of options, depending on how your Rotus is equipped. Rotus had 2 different style noses. One with a little chin spoiler at the bottom, and one without. If you have the chin spoiler, I suppose one option is to bend the plate around that. Also, rotus had 2 different radiator mounting styles. Some cars, like mine, have the radiator immediately behind the opening in the nose. Others, like Rob's (solder_guy) have the radiator behind the front suspension. If yours is in the back position, you could mount the plate inside the nose, spring loaded... so as soon as you get going, air pressure pushes the plate out of the way. Worth a look. 2. You can pickup an adjustable thermostat from any parts store... probe goes under the radiator hose clamp, and it has a knob on it to set the temp. Fan wire goes through it. If you have a cooling problem, here is what I suggest: a. Given the age of the car, try flushing the radiator (or ask Dan if he ever did). It could just be really dirty inside b. Make sure there is a good seal around the radiator to force the air through it, rather than around it. c. Make sure your fan is running the correct direction After those, you can look at aluminum or multiple core radiators. I have an aluminum one sitting around that I never used. If it comes to that, let me know and I'll get you the dimensions. 3. Search here for HID. I think you can buy the round housing headlights like the one you have pretty cheaply from Jegs or speedway. 4. Talk to Rob. Back when my car was still considered a Rotus, I had one, and I sent it to Rob for him to copy. Be careful though, as the first couple of cars were slightly different. So double check. 8. For rear view mirror, you can go conventional from any parts store, or buy the mirrors bsimon sells here specifically for sevens. everyone who has them loves them from what i've read. 9. I like your attitude. Mod fever already

dry sump may help. I had it sitting in the shop and decided it won't help me at all with my LS1. Because the bellhousing is the part that hits the speed bumps most often. You gotta get religious about saving weight - specially when you have a big lump. I see opportunities in my car to save at least 100 lbs (I'm at 1750 now) without any redesign, but don't want to spend the $$$ doing it (lighter tranny, brake package) From a clean piece of paper, I think it's possible to have a 1500 lb aluminum block V8 seven. Still porky, but getting down there.

yes, they have never been accused of competitive prices.

I have mixed feelings about that. On the one hand, I fear he'll be demanding I put upholstery and sliding side windows in Frankn7. On the other hand, he may get motivated to build some of that stuff for me
