I would check your meter again. I fyou are using a FLuke meter or similar the amp draw limit is 10 amps (I assume you have it hooked in correcly). If you turn on both headlamps it may blow the fuse. Ie. 55w(avg. low beam) @ 12v = 4.58 Amps. X2 In most cases the 17.7ma which is 0.0177 amps, is the memory in the ECU. Barely enough to light a LED. You will most likely always see some draw from the battery at any given time. My recomendation if you want to not get run over by an Esclade is to cut off the muffler..... Works for all those damn Harleys, but if we do it is illegal. tim

THe Jig has been done for some time now and I have finished the major sections of the frame. I also have purchased a partially finished frame and used my jig to finish it off. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1308711204_0226082316.jpg

Doing the #'s. On the rev limiter, in my car I am building now, will be 173 mph at 7000 rpm. I will be pushing about 350-400 Hp and since I have had my Eagle Talon (3289lbs) up to 153 MPH on the flats I know I should be able to push the Locost that fast. IF I can keep it on the ground. I have no predictions on the 1/4 time as of yet. But I am hoping for 10's-11's. Tim

Got Pictures of the Roll Bars??? R&L Carriers will ship something like the Roll Bar fairly reasonable. I think their site is GORLC.COM.

My donor had 128,000 on it. Does that count??? Other than that I have gotten lots of miles on it carrying parts back and forth to garage. My garage is not heated, car taking shape in basement, and yes it fits up the stairs.

I like the idea of limiting access to some areas of the site to non-due paying members. But I would like to bring up the idea that if we limit the 'Parts' for sale area to members only you may not have as much postings from people. Example, If I had partially built a frame or a bunch of seven-ish parts laying around I would post them on a free site long before a site I have to pay to be a memeber of. Also if I am selling off my stuff why would I want to still be a member? This would limit the ability of our member getting those "First Come" type sales. And we all know how happy we are when we find one of those. I do agree on the Cars lisiting and Events though. There you are selling a very specific item for a large enough cost to cover the $20 fee. Most "Car For Sale" sites fees are much more than that. And we do have enough members here that will usually post the link of a seven when they find one somewhere else. I believe that keeping these in mind will help maintain the general non-member interest in the site. Other than that... Will there be a PayPal acct that we can send dues to??? Tim Tennant

I would hope to believe that who ever is buying this would be smart enough to realize that the frame is mostl likely junk due to the annealing of the steel. I cannot see how the chassis would be an good after something like this. It is amazing that this is selling for more than $2000.00. Even then it still is requiring a few thousands to get this back to road worthyness. Please tell me no one from here was that desprate to buy this thing? Tim

In case anyone would like to know there is a very nice article in the Feb 08, Kit Car Builder. Page 38-39. It centers on the Texas 07' Meet that recently happened over the fall. Story and photos by Harold Pace Additional photos from Brian Anderson, maker of the WCM Ultralite. With out violating any copyright laws, I dont want to quote or anything but...it gives a summary of the event and wonderful name dropping. Persons include our own: Al Navarro, Mazda Ebrahimi, Chuck Spera, Phil Anderson, Bernie Long, Dick Brink, Carlos Fenny, and Dave Cowherd to name a few. And the writer and the editor was nice enough to mention the site itself. You never know we may get a few new visitors. I already bought Chuck his own personal copy.

I lived in Tulsa and Broken Arrow for two years. It sucked. Not that it isn't nice compared to some places but I am sorry as far as a tourist location it is lacking. Lake Eufaula (OK) was nice and they have a wonderful State Park and swimming. But If we were going to be in that area staying more towards the Ozarks and Table Rock lake would be nicer. Also just south of Branson there is a place called Silver Dollar City. Large lot there we may be able to aquire a section of during the week. (See their maps, Beautiful Outlot). I remember that there are alot of twisty roards through there and beautiful scenery. Table rock lake has lots of camping and would offer a places to store trailers and such. Maybe if we agree to use Silver Dollar City as our base they will allow us to keep our vehicles on grounds? ($)? A nice run to Springfield to the Bass Pro shop there is always fun. That place is a two hour tour for me. Lots of interesting stuff there. Tim.

Any one else happen to be watching MotorWeek today and spot our own Jeff Underwood (R1 Seven). Thay had a spot on the Hyperfest, at Summit Point Motorsports park. Near the end they are showing quick little clips and they got a shot of him on the track. :hurray: Tim

How come you dont just by it the way it is and worry about the issues of getting it running later? If the price is right then just take it. You can always fix everything short of the engine having some sort of MAJOR issue. Even a minor issue like a spun rod bearing or something is still relitively fixable. Just ahve him adjust his price to cover your exspence to have it fixed. I would assume that the seller has a trailer? Could he possibly have it taken to a shop (or two) and have an estimate. You could even suggest that you would offer to cover that cost of independant estimates. At least then your only out that cost if the deal falls through. Just have them check to make sure the enigine is solid and that you have a fixable unit. Any desent shop can do that in less than an hour, with a good compression check, or possibly pulling off the oil pan, check for metal in the oil and filter and such. Tim

1: Copper Grease. I would have to say that they are refering to something like a Copper Anti-seize. But I definetly would not use that on any electrical connection. Incase you ever have the time stick an OHM Meter in a jar of it and you will notice it conducts electricity. This being fine if you can contain ALL of the grease between the connector of a single conducting pin,,,, BUT as we all know that stuff is like snot when it gets on something and never seems to want to come off. But if you have a connection with mulitipe connectors and somthing such as a MAF or a TPS that the computer looks at millivolts it may conduct across the connections. So I would have to say stay far away from it. Although I have used it on Battery Terminals and those pesky 'To Ground' door jam switches that corrode. For bolts use the anti-sieze. It comes in Aluminum, Nickle, and Copper. For your electrical use ONLY Silicone Grease (not caulk) it will seal the moisture out and prevent corrosion. This is what all manufacturers use. 2: Torque Wrench. If you took good care of them they are fine. Unless you are doing engines or a bearing of some sort, the torque specs are more of a + or - thing anyway. 3: Fuel Cell. Filters are cheap and on most sevens are easy to replace. If you still want that clear factor, glass is WAAYYY out. The only thing I can tell you is there are some Rat-Rod type out there that are clear plastic or Lawncare equipment ones. But stick with a good old fasion car filter is the safest way to go. Remember leaky gas makes for a nice fire. 4: Attached Wings. The Bigheads are the way to go, but I wouldn't use ty-raps to hold them on, use a steel hose clamp or something of that nature. OOORRRR simply fabricate your own brackets to laminate into the underside of the wings. Isn't that part of the 'Fun' of building a Seven any how? The idea is to simply spread that contact area over more surface. The cracking from the bolts is due to the head of the bolt is trying to pull through the fender. If you laminate into the bottom side of the fender a plate that helps spread the force of the bolt across the fender instead of one point it reduces the tendency to crack. But it has to be laminated well. Good luck with your build I hope everything goes well. Even in boxes yours is more assembled than mine right now. Tim

I know that there are several places in Northern Michigan that are very nice in the summer months, such as the route along the Lake Huron, Tawas to Mackinaw US23 . We could go over the Bridge to the U.P. and such. And down along the lakes. The Detroit SCCA usually has a two day autocross about in June or July (GASS Event), in Oscoda. Possibly if we made them an offer we could arrange to have our autox on Friday, which is normally their practice day anyway and just let who ever else wishes to practice join in. Those of us who wish to run the rest of the weekeend can. During that time of year the Hotels and small Inns are hurting for business. So it shouldn't be too hard to find spaces for everyone. Any one who wishes to camp there are a lot of options for that also. Unfortunetly a long way to drive for the southern visitors. I also liked the Table Rock Lake area, just outside Branson Missouri. If we were kicking aound the idea of St.Louis, why not coinside this with Run&Gun at Gateway Int. race track. I know a few of the top Seven guys will be there anyway and I know that a lot of others will love to sit and watch them run. Even have a large venue to gather in all ready with services such as restrooms and food. Also a good gathering of other related 'kit' cars. I know I would love to be able to combine the two due to vacation days being limited by my company I work for. BTW take a look and see where our Sevens are, Chuck Spera and Dennis Brunton.... http://www.runngun.net/pdf/Results2007.pdf Tim.

Coveland usually has a kit on sale there. Every once in a while they offer up one of their aluminum chassis. Tim

Well after a long wait it seems as if I just need to build my own. I had set up a deal where I would drive down from Detriot to Nashville and even went out of my way to arrange it the same time I went to Indianapolis on Business. I was to spend the week in Indy and was to pick up the chassis on Thurs. Even arranged a company truck (and company gas) :hurray: . When I left on Sunday to start my company trip to Indy, I called the seller and OPPPS he sold it. This of course was after I told him I was coming, after I offered a deposit (he said it wasn't necessary), after I made all the arrangements, after he told me "well I guess I will pull all the ads and it is yours." Well suddenly the story changed to "well I couldnt pass up a sure sale for a possible future one. " :banghead: Ok well I guess I should just take that as a sign to build my own. SOOOOOO..... If anyone else would like to make or have me make a chassis near Detroit let me know. looks like im making jigs. Tim
