The "grievous indiscretion" was on the part of mommy using the term in front of the child.

Gord, At that downforce you could drive on the ceiling! Very impressive car. Also impressive is the list of cars in your signature. It's almost obscene for one person to have that many track toys, I'm very green with envy.
-
Gord, Sorry to hear your car was stolen, that sucks. How did you attach that front wing to the chassis and did you fabricate the wing or is it available somewhere? Your thoughts on the effectiveness of each wing?

I think that if the heater connections on the engine and submarine are just nipples, I would cap them. Otherwise you are circulating the hottest water from the t-stat housing directly into the coolest water as it flows from the radiator outlet through the submarine without any cooling of that flow. That will raise the temperature of the cool side flow before it reaches the engine. You already have the T-stat bypass hose doing that, why diminish the efficiency of the system any further especially since it is likely that the heater bypass hose will be larger than the t-stat bypass hose? An alternative would be to use those heater connections with something like a frame rail cooler or an oil cooler type heat exchanger to gain a little extra cooling for the overall system.

The Candy With The Little Hole This should make you smile. You have to love little kids. The children began to identify the flavors by their color: Red....................Cherry Yellow................Lemon Green..................Lime Orange ..............Orange Finally the teacher gave them all HONEYlifesavers. None of the children could identify the taste. The teacher said, 'I will give you all a clue. It's what your mother may sometimes call your father.' One little girl looked up in horror, spit her lifesaver out and yelled, 'Oh my God! They're ass-holes! The teacher had to leave the room!

Kiwi, Thanks for sharing your upgrade, it's been fun to watch. You're going to love the extra power. That appears to be a V8 engine in the red Se7en in the shop. If it is, some details & pictures please. Are you planning on running the engine without the timing belt covers? I've seen several people lose engines that way in Miatas and they have far more protection in the engine compartment from loose rocks than a Se7en does.

It was a real frog choker. Definitely not something you want to be riding a bike in or even driving a Se7en. Its cool and foggy this morning. The long range forecast shows much milder weather for next week, mid to high 80s with a 10% chance of rain. We'll see how it plays out.

It didn't stay dry here. A deluge hit this afternoon, at least in my area. Some areas reported 2.5" of rain in 45 minutes. Maybe it will work out on your return trip.

I also think it is one of a kind. A little searching found this 1956 Avia 350. Doesn't look much like the Streamliner. Another reference said the Czech driver Miroslav Jurca convinced the factory to let him build a race car and the Streamliner was the result.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if the one in the link is the same car as was at Monterrey?

Why Men Make Better Friends Friendship among Women: A woman didn't come home one night. The next morning She told her husband that she had slept over at a friend's house. The man called his wife's 10 best Friends. None of them knew anything about it. Friendship among Men: A man didn't come home one night. The next morning he Told his wife that he had slept over at a friend's House. The woman called her husband's 10 best friends. Eight confirmed that he had slept over, and two said he was still there. Need I say more..................................

Gert, Great pictures and clips, thanks for sharing for those of us unable to attend. I really liked the picture of the fellow with the leather helmet, goggles and handlebar mustache leaning on the yellow #4. What car is that? Then there is this one, what is it? Never seen anything like it before.

He is scheduled to be in Monterrey by now but I've heard nothing from him. Has anyone in California seen or heard from him?

What time do you plan on stopping at Caterham USA in Denver? I assume that is Monday the 16th? I could meet you there. I live a few miles off I-25 on your way to Cheyenne and could offer you and your buddy an over night stop if you like. Might even be able to gather some of the local Se7ens for dinner and socializing.

Tom got on his way Tuesday morning headed for Los Angeles. I've not heard from him since he left. Anyone who does, please post progress reports on this thread. He agreed to phone in from time to time with updates which I will post here. Here are a couple of pre-departure pictures. 1. Tom loading the car. 2. Ready to roll 3. Mother Duck & some of her offspring had to take a test drive before letting him leave.

If that trailer and those hosts are the best they can do, its DOA.

We had a kid in an MR2 Spyder show up at a track event a few years ago. In the package sent to all participants it was emphasized that you should check your oil level. Half way through the day the kid asked a couple of us to take a listen to his engine as it was making funny noises. He started it up and I immediately screamed SHUT IT OFF!. The rods sounded like they were exchanging places on the crankshaft. We pulled the dipstick, no oil at all, not even a film. We gathered up everyone's spare oil cans and started filling. It took three quarts just to get it to hit the bottom of the stick. When topped up he started the engine again. It sounded better but still had serious rod knock. He was asked if he had checked the oil level and he said it had been changed a couple of months ago at a Grease Monkey type place and he figured it would still be OK and hadn't checked it. What an idiot. He was advised to run the engine long enough to mix up the oils and then flatbed the car to within a block or two of the dealer, drive it in and ask what the funny noises were and not mention the track. It took a little time and persuasion but Toyota honored the warranty with a new engine. In retrospect we probably shouldn't have suggested that as he really deserved to pay the price for his stupidity.

TICK WARNING! I hate it when people forward bogus warnings, and I have even done it myself a couple times unintentionally but this one is real, and it's important. Please send this warning to everyone on your e-mail list. If someone comes to your front door saying they are checking for ticks due to the warm weather and asks you to take your clothes off and dance around with your arms up, DO NOT DO IT!! THIS IS A SCAM!! They only want to see you naked. I wish I'd gotten this yesterday. I feel so stupid.

I have two checklists that I use before taking my Caterham to the track. One is a list of bolts that I check torque on and the other is what I do before leaving along with what to take with me. I trailer my car to the track so not all of it will be germane to your situation. I tried to upload both files but the forum software said one was an invalid type (Excel spreadsheet) and the other was too big (a Word doc with only 36 kb). If you want to see them PM me with your email address and I will send you copies.

I've driven my Caterham once with the Brooklands screens on and once with no windscreen at all. My observation is no windscreen is worst, regular windscreen is much better and the Brooklands is noticeably better than the windscreen as far as buffeting goes. Definitely easier on the ears. Besides needing to find the right mirrors, I am going to get some goggles and a Snoopy helmet before I start leaving the Brooklands on the car. I want some better eye and forehead protection as I'm sure some rocks will not be deflected the Brooklands. I recall getting a ride at the track in Keith Tanner's Locost with no windscreen. He had a small wind deflector in front of him and I had only the bonnet and cowl. Even with a helmet on it was brutal. When I commented on it he mentioned that I wasn't the first passenger to complain about it. I think he now has a full width aeroscreen on the car.

That got me laughing so hard I nearly fell out of my chair.

Damn, I knew there was a reason my car was getting slower and slower.
