  1. This may be old news to some but I just heard about it today. Beachman-McClure Racing took 3rd overall driving a Caterham 7. The drivers were Bruce Beachman, Darren Dilley and Mark McClure. They were the first non-professional team after two factory built racing Porsche's with professional drivers, crew chiefs and big financial backing. I'm assuming they took a class win as well as I doubt they were in the same class as the Porsches. Congratulations to them and a Well Done. They have a blog at http://beachman-mcclureracing.blogspot.com/
  2. 57F and sunny here in the Denver area today. Snow and much colder weather by Tuesday.

    Sylva Star

It looks like a clone of a Lotus 7 S4. The doors look like they are made of wood.
  4. These make my Caterham SV seem a little porky at 1,348 with 6 gallons of fuel, windscreen and no weather gear, spare or jack. IIRC, the SV weighs about 80 lb more than the classic Caterhams, excluding the superlights. The iron block engine, cast iron exhaust manifold and turbine housing plus intercooler and plumbing all contribute to the extra weight but more than compensate in increased power. However, I have improved the overall power to weight ratio by losing 77 lb off my body since Aug 1st.
  5. I wonder if it has some kind of electronic differential to allow turns without spinning the inside tire. It looks like there are actually two motors with a blue electronic box in between. I imagine the weight of the batteries up front will more than balance the weight, might even make it too heavy on the front.
  6. Does that motor mount in place of the differential? If the car weighs in like a typical Se7en, it's going to be a rocket ship. I want one, I hope they will offer it in kit form rather than a factory built car. Might be my next project after the Miata Italia. That 500Nm motor output is the equivalent of 368.8 lb. ft. of torque, all of it available from 0 RPM.
  7. What a riot! Now I'm going to have to get a couple of those.
  8. Maybe we should do a group buy and have a race at every Se7ens gathering. I wonder how many channels are available.
  9. Since basic Miata based Westfield kits start around $14k without engine, trans, diff and the other Miata based parts as well as any accessories, I would think a completed, sorted car at $17k would be reasonable. Since it didn't sell, offer them $15k and see where it goes from there.
  10. ^^^That's a great solution to transporting your Se7en to the track.

    Another Joke

A psychiatrist was conducting a group therapy session with four young mothers and their small children. "You all have obsessions," he observed. To the first mother, Mary, he said, "You are obsessed with eating. You've even named your daughter Candy." He turned to the second Mom, Ann: "Your obsession is with money. Again, it manifests itself in your child's name, Penny." He turned to the third Mom, Joyce: "Your obsession is alcohol. This too shows itself in your child's name, Brandy." At this point, the fourth mother, Janet quietly got up and took her little boy by the hand, and whispered, "Come on, Dick, this guy has no idea what he's talking about. Let's pick up Peter and Willy from school and go get dinner."
  12. Are they registered on the SB100 exemption or did they make it through the system without the exemption?
  13. There is also a search engine called Site Mash that searches CL and ebay. It was sent to me with a default for searching for hearses but you can change that each time you use it. http://www2.jaxed.com/cgi-bin/mash.cgi?cat=cp&itm=hearse&loc=XSC&fil=cadillac&ys=1909&ye=1968&submit=++++go++++
  14. Who would buy any modern car with 409,000 miles on it and a bad clutch for $13,900?
  15. Caterham USA sells a pair of brackets with captive nuts that make it much easier to R & R the windshield or Brooklands mounting. No more removing the panels and reaching up inside to hold the nut. It also adds rigidity to the windshield in the event someone leans on it getting in or out of the car. There are pictures of them in this thread. http://www.usa7s.com/vb/showpost.php?p=35485&postcount=18 They were relatively cheap.
  16. Found this on the Flyin' Miata website: Westfields are available in Canada Did you know that the Miata-based Westfield is one of the few kits that can be imported into Canada? We've worked with Transport Canada to make them fully legal for import. Contact us for details. 800-359-6957 or http://www.flyinmiata.com I have no financial connection with FM, just a long term, very satisfied customer.
  17. Flyin' Miata sells the GoPro Motorsports Hero system, don't know if it is the same model as used in this video but people who have them have had lots of good things to say about them. Very reasonably priced at $200. http://www.flyinmiata.com/index.php?deptid=5679&parentid=0&stocknumber=21-50000
  18. On a Caterham that symbol is on the switch that turns on the windshield washers.

  20. Jeff, It seems to me I have seen your car somewhere in the last year or two at a show or perhaps LOG27 in Aspen. Have you been to any LOCO events or local car shows? The car looks great and like most everyone else I am blown away by the ali nosecone.

  22. The ad has a picture of a six cylinder Jaguar twin cam engine just before the picture of a Ford pushrod engine. The twin cam looks like it might be in an E type. Maybe they are offering a Jag six as an option for the Westfield.

  24. Will, Welcome aboard, it is a great group of people on this forum. I have finally been able to tear my eyes away from the girl in the photo and spotted the Se7en behind yours with a very unusual nosecone, sort of like a hammerhead shark. Is that a Fraser and do you have some more photos of that car? The rear fenders blended into the body make that part look like a Westfield.
