    What A Ride

When I click that link I get a full page ad for gmail! Apparently I have to open an account with gmail to get whatever it is you want us to see.
  4. Jeffs, If the weather is decent and the are roads dry I can meet you at Caterham USA for a test ride on March 5th. If you can get to Denver by Saturday the 3rd I am taking the Lotus club to visit one of the worlds top ranked Bugatti and French racing car restorers and then on a blat in the foothills or mountains depending on road conditions.
  5. WHEN COFFEE HURTS I was eating breakfast with my six year-old granddaughter last week and I asked her "When is President's Day?" She is a really smart kid, and instantly replied "In February!" So, I asked "What does President's Day mean?" I was waiting for something about Washington or Lincoln ... etc. She said, "That's when President Obama steps out of the White House and if he sees his shadow we have one more year of unemployment." DARN IT - HURTS WHEN HOT COFFEE SPURTS OUT YOUR NOSE!
  6. Welcome aboard jeffs. When you come to Colorado let me know and we can get together and you can check out my Roadsport SV. Not as light as an R500 but more HP and torque. Fun on the track and more comfortable on the street. There is an SV for sale locally, see the classifieds section of the forum.
  7. Its medical grade for me, I'm on supplemental oxygen 24/7 and I take along a 40 liter tank of liquid oxygen to charge my portable tanks. The storage tank is way too large for the Caterham so I have to trailer it when I am going somewhere for more than 8 hours. The Caterham's engine gets a water/methanol mix injected into the end tank of the intercooler when under boost. Makes the 91 octane panther piss we get in Colorado into 100+ octane.
  8. I'll chime in here for smaller trailers. I have a 7 x 14 Haulmark LoHauler trailer. It is designed for motorcycles and is 20" lower than the 8 x 16 trailer I had before. You have to duck your head as it is only 56" tall inside. It has a low floor and full length rear door that swings down to be the ramp and my lowered cars have no problem getting in and out of the trailer. With the lower height, V-nose and narrower width my gas mileage went from 7 mpg in the 8 x 16 trailer to 11 mpg driving 75 mph. I tow it with an '11 Dodge Ram 1500 with the Hemi engine. I can maintain the speed limit and more going up I-70 to the Eisenhower tunnel and over Vail Pass. It will even get back up to speed if slowed by traffic. Its a good fit for the Caterham and a tight fit for a Miata but I can still carry a spare set of wheels or my large liquid oxygen container in the V-nose. The rest goes into the camper shell on the truck. It tows like a dream, never a problem with sway, stopping or anything else other than a propensity to flat tires on the RR tire. My tire shop guy tells me the front tire kicks up the nails on the edge of the road and the rear one catches them. Four flats on that one tire so far. It obviously won't accommodate the live-in niceties like the bigger trailers but it provides shade and is comfortable if the side and rear doors are open. I carry a few camp chairs and people always seem to congregate in the trailer when it is hot or raining.
  9. The picture came to me in an email. I'm sure this is a photoshopped picture but do you think the remote pilots would be capable of flying them in close formation without collisions?
  10. Soon to be appearing at an air show near you!
  11. I joined a few years ago and had the same problem. I never did get it resolved so I didn't renew the membership.
  12. I have a Tekonsha Primus controller. It is in the $100 range. It was first installed on the Subaru Legacy GT, then the '05 Silverado and now on the '11 Dodge Ram. If you get one of these I have a spare plug in wiring harness for Chevy/GMC trucks you are welcome to.
  13. Tom, I'm in for one. The paypal will be on the way shortly, use the mailing address on the paypal notification. I can confirm the last one was very well done.

  15. When one Chevy V8 just doesn't do it for you.
  16. Yes, my car is an SV but I believe you could turbocharge a Miata engine in an S3 size engine bay. The manifold and turbo from an '04 - '05 Mazdaspeed Miata tucks in close to the engine and has a bit smaller turbo. Plenty of room in front of the radiator for an intercooler. I used the biggest one that would fit in the nose cone, you would have to find a narrower one to fit an S3 nose. Pictures of the installation are here: http://www.cardomain.com/ride/636168/1992-mazda-miata-mx-5/page-17 The Miata 1.6/1.8 engine goes back to the GTX/GTR Proteges and was designed as a turbo engine from the get go. Its a tough engine but I don't believe there is anything in common with the Zetec other than basic configuration. The Duratec was mainly developed by Mazda during the Ford/Mazda years.
  17. Jack decided to go skiing with his buddy, Vic. So they loaded up Jack's minivan and headed north. After driving for a few hours, they got caught in a terrible blizzard. They pulled into a nearby farm and asked the attractive lady who answered the door if they could spend the night. 'I realize its terrible weather out there and I have this huge house all to myself, but I'm recently widowed,' she explained. 'I'm afraid the neighbors will talk if I let you stay in my house.' 'Don't worry,' Jack said. 'We'll be happy to sleep in the barn, and if the weather breaks, we'll be gone at first light. 'The lady agreed, and the two men found their way to the barn and settled in for the night. Come morning, the weather had cleared, and they got on their way. They enjoyed a great weekend of skiing. But about nine months later, Jack got an unexpected letter from an attorney. It took him a few minutes to figure it out, but he finally determined that it was from the attorney of that attractive widow he had met on the ski weekend. He dropped in on his friend Vic and asked, 'Vic, do you remember that good-looking widow from the farm we stayed at on our ski holiday up north about 9 months ago?' 'Yes, I do.' said Vic 'Did you, er, happen to get up in the middle of the night, go up to the house and pay her a visit?' 'Well, um, yes!,' Vic said, a little embarrassed about being found out, 'I have to admit that I did.' 'And did you happen to give her my name instead of telling her your name?' Vic's face turned beet red and he said, 'Yeah, look, I'm sorry, buddy, I'm afraid I did.' 'Why do you ask?' 'She just died and left me everything.' And you thought the ending would be different, didn't you?... you know you smiled...now keep that smile for the rest of the day!
  18. John has lowered the price on the Caterham SV to $39,950. He is asking $75k for the Kirkham Cobra if anyone is interested.
  19. Its about 60' from my front door to my shop door. I'm retired so I can't call it a job but when I work, it's in my shop.
  20. The Kirkham VIN is KMP336 which he said is included in the official VIN which he did not give me. It's listed as such in the Shelby American Registry (Cobras and GT-40s). He sent along pictures and specs if anyone is interested. We went cruising around the area in it for an afternoon last Spring. I have the Cobra bite to prove it, same ankle as the two Cat Bites. The car is a beast.
  21. I don't know the VIN but it was a Kirkham show car at one time. It is bare brushed aluminum with polished stripes. I'll ask him if he is OK with posting it. If you are interested in buying it, email him with the contact address in the OP.
  22. I've blocked it out on the calendar, we'll see how things are when it gets closer to the time.
  23. It was a fantastic race between 4 cars, Nissan Juke-R concept, Lamborghini LP560-4, Ferrari 458 and Mercedes SLS AMG. I guess the Juke isn't such a Joke after all. I always thought of it as a clown car. Those rich guys in Dubai have all the fun.
  24. The owner has a choice of selling this car or his Kirkham 427 Cobra to feed his racing habit. He is hoping the Cobra sells first as he enjoys driving the Caterham more than the Cobra.
  25. Dan, Is that your gorgeous car? More details please.
