  1. Its bigger than a pedal car and has a chainsaw engine in the boot. I think it is a one off and the owner is unlikely to sell it, I already tired. Its name is .7 (Point 7) which is roughly its size in comparison to a real Lotus 7.
  2. Good size comparison among Elan, Miata and Caterham and between the SV and Standard S3.
  3. One of those GMC motorhomes pulled into the pits at one of our local tracks about 7 - 8 years ago. I wondered why he was parking it in the pits until I saw him swing up the rear cap on the body to reveal a Se7en inside the motorhome. He lowered the rear of the motorhome using the air suspension and installed two short ramps and rolled the Se7en out. Years later when I bought my Se7en I tracked down the owner and he sent me the pictures below. Unfortunately he had abandoned the project and sold the motorhome which he had named the Mudhen. His was the short wheelbase version and I figured if I could find one of the long wheelbase versions there would be room for the car and a living space. What a way that would have been to travel around the country visiting track events.
  4. Two mates, a Caterham Superlight, a Yamaha XJR, 2000 miles and a lot of corners.
  5. That first picture came to me in an email awhile back. According to the email it was supposed to have been in S. Dakota. However, close inspection shows the cars are driving on the left side of the road but I cannot come up with any country that drives on the left side of the road that has that much snow. Anyone know just where the picture was taken?
  6. Our Miata club visited the area a few years back. Those bison are not pleasant animals to be close to. One of them head butted a pickup a couple of times. I was getting nervous in the Miata, not sure I would want to drive a Se7en through the herd. The rest of the trip was great.
  7. Its been that way since 1916. There have been four deaths in the history of the race, 3 drivers and one official. Think back to the time of the Group B rally cars. The crowds were so thick there was scarcely room to get the car through. Very few of the spectators on Pikes Peak were actually on the road.
  8. Kiwi, Can you recommend a good relief agency we can make donations to over the internet?

  10. You are number 1.
  11. Hang in there Kiwi, our thoughts are with you.
  12. Since there is no oil in the tank, the pressure pump is not going to have any oil to feed to the engine until the scavenge pump pulls it out of the pan and sends enough to the tank to fill the lines back to the pressure pump. If you don't want to change the oil, drain a couple of quarts out into a clean container and put it back into the tank. Easy to do and it just may save a bearing or two. Cheap insurance. Pulling the plugs and cranking the engine will work but it will spin awhile before oil gets to the bearings.
  13. Why not just drain it all out and refill the tank with fresh oil?

    oops

Can't read the sign even in the larger version, what does it say?
  15. Link doesn't work for me.
  16. Don't keep a "long stabby thing" close by the bed but I do keep a loaded Winchester Defender 12 gauge at hand.
  17. IIRC that was one of the most expensive commercials ever produced up to that point.
  18. First I've heard about it but I'm up for a steam train ride most any time.
  19. That's got to be a major adrenaline rush. I've been on this one at Glenwood Springs several times and it was a rush but nothing like those crazies in Moab. YouTube - Swing Shot at Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park
  20. "The Art of Racing in the Rain" by Garth Stein is a good one.
  21. As long as that ménage a trois includes a certain yellow Miata, I don't think she will mind at all. Keep in mind that you may feel a bit overwhelmed, those two have nearly 600 hp between them. They like to party hearty.
  22. Hi Bessie, BlatCat sends her Valentine greetings and says she has plenty of room in the shop if you want to have a sleepover.
  23. Give me a little lead time once you know when you are coming to the front range and I will see if I can gather the Colorado Sevens for a ride and BBQ or something. We had nine Sevens at my shop last April for the debut of Tom's (Alaskossie) new ESL. Brandon who works with Keith at Flyin Miata in Palisade has a BEC Locost and Bill Cardell. the owner of FM has a Westfield. He is also a dealer for Westfield and can build you a turnkey car with Miata power. Tom Carlin has a Birkin in Eagle (IIRC). PM me your email and I will put you on the Colorado Sevens mailing list.
  24. 60 years ago, this was what comedy was like on television.
  25. Welcome aboard Eric. Like James said, building the car is a lot of fun but driving it is better. I've had a lot of sports cars but I can't think of any other car I would rather own and drive unless I could afford one of the super exotic cars. Next time you come to the Denver area, contact me and come out to Erie for an afternoon and we'll take a drive and then put the car on the lift so you can take a closer look at the mechanicals. Look around at the various kits available, see and drive as many as you can and then just GO FOR IT! You won't regret it. As Gert said, get yourself a car and join us for the Black Hills trip.
