nelson ledges was my home track when we were racing the old A-healeys. the track has SO much potential..but the proper investment was never made. However,,many memories were made there. fast? yeah it's a VERY fast track!...except for the chuckholes and 10 types of pavement changes.. facilities? i heard they finally dug a new set of holes for the bathrooms in 2006... note to self, bring gas mask in the summer. urban myth has it theres still a formula ford sitting out in the swamp off the main straight.. you cabn see the ghost of it in the shadows of the mosquitos. tire walls? yes they work quite well, and are the harvest grounds for malaria and yellow fever.. nelson was /is famous for the 24hr race they have there, which is probably more brutal than le-mans. I think they finally replaced the rotten wood in the bridge over the front straight after the truck fell through it. Many fond memories.. i need to get back there sometime!

bad weekend rants? We wanted to do a good deed and take our friend Trenia to see her family. lets start off with being in the middle of kentucky, 450 miles from home with a blown transmission (bearing failure) in our subaru wagon. towing it home would cost more than the car is worth..so.. we take it to a local transmission shop and pray it gets fixed sometime later this week. We get stuck trying to find a rental car for 1/2 a day friday, we finally find one 40 miles away It rains most the weekend so the 4th celebrations saturday are cancelled in the area we are visiting. But thats ok because Trenia is sick in bed all saturday. Mary twists her ankle down a set of steps and she ends up in bandages and ice. We go for a ride sunday on our friends dad's boat, and the kill switch breaks. but thats ok because it starts to rain again on the lake. Mary goes to take the se7en to work this morning and the battery is dead... No good deed goes unpunished!! and how was your weekend? -

Gee...i like the color scheme!! sorry...

Nice looking car!! We as well, are victims of the wheel choice. our car was originally one that was handled by mr Brink, but i suspect the owner had something to do with the choice. they are..well.. less than se7en,,,and someday when the budget allows, they will be replaced!

Ok, sorry havnt done that...yet.

Will there be a gathering this fall at deals gap again? curious...trying to plan out the summer. (and somehow wear these bad tires down so i have an excuse to get new ones)

Birkin-update front suspension-wide track
southwind25 replied to southwind25's topic in General Tech
well, the bowling ball hard tires dont help.. but thats what budget allows at the moment. I am running as much positive camber as i can adjust to.. which seems barley 1 degree if that. The understeer is usually entry not power induced. -
What do you consider, the "rear guard"? you mean the rear wings? fenders?

Birkin-update front suspension-wide track

Thanks this was a great help.... Thanks gary for the PM as well. let me know if you continue with your changes! I have noticed the car understeers ALLOT in my opinion,, of course the bakalite hard tires i run dont help matters much. i also think i have the camber set as far as i can go right now with the existing setup. 2,500 is allot for the kit... i have a tig and mig welder... might be a winter project if i can find the right a-arm tubing. -
Thats one of the "happiest" pictures of a se7en i have ever seen! Black is an awesome color (shade?) but black is hot in the sun, hard to keep clean (like that really matters anyways), and... technically, black will deteriorate the fiberglass quicker because of heat absorbtion. (from what i have been told by airplane and boat people).. but black is kewl and classy..

The celtic fest was wonderful! Thanks Gary for comming out and bringing along your friend with the europa as well, (sorry i humbly couldnt remember his name). Gary 's se7en was showing off his new custom made top, great job! The weather was great if not a bit cool behind the occasional cloud. Everyone enjoyed the cars and the festival was rich with heritage. Both Mary and Trina are of scottish heritage as well. There was even a appearance of "fat bastard" and his brother during the bagpipe concert! Afterwards we toured through the countryside a bit before having to close out another se7en day. Whats next?...

I agree... the tires look like wheel barrowtires.. lol. better check the axle rating too.

Has anyone here updated there old narrow track BirKin, to the new wider track kit available? wondering how hard it would be to fabricate this myself?

Update: got a reply from the car show/event hosts.. The cars will be located just inside the festival. Hosts, I guess, are members of the Scottish American Society. We are interested in vintage cars - but British would be great. We'd be thrilled to have you. If you can make it between 9:00 and 10:00, that would be fine. You will have free admission to the festival. They will direct you to your place at the gate. Thanks so much! Margaret Margaret Frost, Chairman Scottish American Society

Dean G is right.. We have some family/freinds that are nascar fans, and i feel sorry for them. They cant afford to go to a race anymore. They cant identify with the cars anymore and are loosing interest. same with indy.. thank goodness some women are driving to make for some good press. however,,i always enjoyed watching and crewing for races on street courses. i think they are very important.

It looks to me, like a failed attempt at a video game se7en.. i like more curves as well.. though...this could be an origami se7en?

Brown? root beer color? humbly... it would be my last possible choice for a car, besides panty hose beige. black is tough to keep perfect, but the brown is just..a very 70's grandfatherly color. sorry... i never thought brown was attractive on a vehicle. maybe gold?
-
The key is...that Mary drives the car as much as i do. it's so much easier to spend money on it that way!
