  1. A 7 can generate just as much wheelspin for a lot less money.
  2. Good to know. The information I have given here, is Ontario specific. Every province is of course, different. Yesterday was a beautiful afternoon for a drive, and today will be the same!
  3. you can always email me at phoffen2001 at yahoo dot com with any questions as to Ontario. My Deman went through fairly easily (in the end).
  4. CALL IT a Kit Car. Do. As mentioned, it causes all sorts of problems otherwise.
  5. I did mine last year. The information is out there, but don't expect the MTO to explain it to you! Whatever you do, call your car a "kit car", unless it's a Caterham, in which case none of this matters, because David has them registered in BC already. Be a bit more specific about what you have in mind.
  6. I've watched your build with great interest on lcusa. You've done an amazing job!
  7. Yes, and if you wear a helmet, it is even worse, so you want a bit of lay back. 20 degrees rings a bell.
  8. I think you hit it on the head, as it were: mental problems cause big social problems. The same thing happens everywhere in the world: boot everyone out of institutions, and let them roam free to not cope, and generally cause mayhem. I don't have a simple answer, myself, but downloading to the simplest common denominator in society doesn't seem to work either.
  9. I don't live in the US, so I don't count, but don't you feel it's kind of odd to spend TRILLIONS on a war machine to go places where it doesn't do any good, instead of a few million on fighting poverty in Oakland and the like? I used to live in the Bay area, and I know it isn't all "surf's up in Santa Cruz" for a lot of people around there, especially if you aren't white. Your great country can be even better!
  10. Ford motor installed for 2k? Where do I sign??? Probably not possible, unless you are already a mechanic who has big connections somewhere. Not saying people haven't done it for less - they probably have - in the UK.
  11. What's wrong with enjoying yourself and making money at the same time? He's a broker/car salesman who fills a void in the marketplace. It's about getting your products to the market, which most people have trouble with.
  12. Higher offset = wheel more inward Less offset = wheel more outward eg. 0 offset wheel gives a wider track than a + 45 offset wheel You can measure any rim by checking wheel width, then measuring the distance to the centre of the rim (the part that sits against the hub) from the INSIDE edge, using two rulers. The difference between the half way point of the total width, and this distance from the inside edge, is your offset. There is no way to tell what anybody needs, because all the cars are so different, and have their wing stays mounted differently (unless you have bog standard Westfields or Caterhams).
  13. Nice! Was that the road from Cowichan to Nanaimo?
  14. Some shops don't like doing fibreglass, so consider that.
  15. i too ditched my second ca18det, after not being able to get it going, and am having it replaced by an SR20.
  16. Where does one start in commenting on Bernie and F1? Let's just say that he is crucial to the business, given his personality, and the days of public money excessively funding events these people put on are waning. I personally think it is a good investment, as long as the cost is not too high, as they are genuinely fun events and generate huge revenues from tourists. It's the only information many Europeans have on us here in North America. However, Uncle B has a way to suck even more out of people, which has made all his gang richer than ever dreamt of, and allowed racing/travel/development costs to skyrocket in recent years. One of these days, the balloon is going to pop.
  17. There is a car show in Parkville, Sunday, if anyone is interested. 1/2 hour north of Nanaimo.
  18. Can't anybody local do it for you? Can't be that hard.
  19. I feel your pain. I am in the exact situation you describe: unique ECU, JDM engine etc. I have it with the guy who helped inspect it for the roadways here, and he is very confident in getting it going soon enough. Having one-off cars like these is not for the faint of heart; and that's BEFORE you get in and drive.
  20. Although I will have to miss this, I highly recommend this event to everyone. Nice track too.
  21. You lucky buggers. It will be 5 years before I can take part in that... that's when I get to move back home. Of course if I still lived in Van, I would not be able to afford a car, let alone the Ayseven.
  22. I'm trying to imagine Oakland to Vancouver in a day. I used to do it from San Jose in 3. Of course, I was in a Civic. No coastal roads either.
  23. Nobody else pays those CEO's that much money. They pay THEMSELVES that much. How it ended up this way is all basically human dishonesty and greed. Pretty sad if it wasn't so infuriating.
  24. Yes, but it is nice to see companies actually making money, allowing for further development, etc. I haven't been able to figure out if anybody makes money on kit cars, or glorified kit cars, in C'ham's case. I own a decent business, and can add. On the other hand, I have a theory that many British companies are now owned by other companies, based in other countries, merely to avoid paying tax. No names here of course... there are bound to be a few lawyers around.
  25. I just made the connection with the user name. Hey, I've been away from the coast a while now!!!
