    Deman SR7

I wouldn't be too impressed. There are a few bad ones out there. But I have to say, that it just requires a dedicated space, and a huge amount of patience (which I have never been known for). And a love of looking on Fleabay. It's not much different that going to school really; most free time is spent in the garage tinkering instead of studying.

    Deman SR7

Ah yes, another of us who gave up. I didn't, but many did. Good deal for someone.
  3. Which is why I went to 15". I'm willing to suffer a little performance (as if...) for tires. Also, my Deman is very low, so I get a bit of ride height out of it. BTW, you can find R888's for 13" pretty easily if you look around, without going to Europe, but they are the only ones that I could find.
  4. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/130621041198?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2648#ht_1244wt_949 I like this, and it looks safe enough, but obviously the ends need to fit on top of your spring, but not the clip. Don't see how modding this would be hard to do.
  5. Or a hole where your eye used to be. I am known to be impatient, but I'm only partially mental.
  6. Bike shock compressors, like on EBay? I have decided I won't take chances, and am taking mine into the motorbike shop again. I've seen pics of people using ratchet straps, but it seems a bit precarious to me.
  7. People have short memories. When my dad bought his TR3 brand new in 1956 in Vancouver, he paid over $3000 for it. My brother still has it, but it hasn't been on the road since 1975, the year I turned 16. Nice, eh?? He made from what I understand, about $1000 per YEAR. Cars are dirt cheap nowadays no matter how you calculate it. Yes most are boring, but that's because the masses demand mini vans and trucks, instead of interesting diesels and small cars like they have in Europe.
  8. It isn't hard to do. I've done it with a scuttle and if I can do it, so can you. Seriously simple. On Locostbuilders.co.uk, there is a good write-up on how to do it (search on "Widen Cycle Wings").
  9. Taken this afternoon, can't see all my car, but shows what these things are for!
  10. I'm definitely interested.
  11. Can't wait for progress reports.
  12. Hi Fred! What's the story with your car? R
  13. Try MCO.ORG. There are lots of people more insane than me over there. Haven't had anybody NOT want a ride at the autocrosses.
  14. sorry to hear that Ian! I was looking forward to going for a spin when my car finally gets roadworthy next spring. It's in Lachine right now getting wiring and new ecu, but the guy doing it is promising big dyno numbers. And yes, one of your mirrors is being put to use! I won't forget that.
  15. Name: Rich Location: Ottawa area Car: Deman SR7 Engine: Nissan CA18DET Running gear: Miata Not road licensed yet, but autocrossed a few times. I have a fast car in the hands of a very very slow driver.
  16. http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/1LdTE5vzT0ablLIacEMXuQ?authkey=Gv1sRgCLfsoZrNyoKG4QE&feat=directlink Truck lights, EBay, about $40 delivered. All red, tail, brake, turn. No reflectors.
  17. You have a beaut of a car there. However, I would strongly suggest not thinking about driving through BC to Alaska in such a vehicle. Admittedly it's been a few years since I've done it, but a large part of the trip used to be unpaved, with lots of unforgiving trucks, rocks etc, which would do wonders to your CF parts in about 5 seconds.
  18. Cheaper to use a land line. Here in Canada, Telus uses Bell's network in Ontario, and they charge a certain amount per minute on top of what Bell (the usual land line provider) does. I phone orders regularly to the UK.
  19. Looks very nice! Again, don't be impatient waiting for parts. They are notoriously slow sometimes from the UK, but I've never had anything not arrive eventually, either from an individual on FleeceBay, or company site. It always surprises me, however, that after thousands of these 7 cars have been built over the years, people still don't get proper instructions with them. How does Factory Five do it, and why hasn't anybody copied their format? ie. things arrive in numbered containers. My so-called kit (Deman originally) had instructions that were written by a 3 year old. And although it's not highly recommended, I have spent 3 years obsessing over something that isn't work related, that may or may not be finished by summer. That's just how these things go.
  20. yes please! Are you going to be in Nepean anytime soon? I owe you a lot so far!!
  21. Now THAT made for a good reading! I figure you can save a bit here and there by looking around, but the used market seems the best deal. Upgrades for carbon fibre whatsits are available from many sources, and may be a lot less than from the official dealer - there are at least 3 reputable CF online shops in the UK I can think of (Carbon Mods, Fluke Motorsport and Demon Tweeks). In Canada at least, importing a kit or newer used is a risky business - you might not get your car from customs if they get difficult. If our dollar keeps it's rate, you also might want to call the Super7Cars people in BC for a BC registered/inspected new one - you might save a lot on the exchange.
  22. C'mon Ian, what's the fun in that??????
  23. As a casual observer of Americans from the other side of a border, and a former California resident, I think many Americans don't like to pay taxes (seems to be this weird idiological thing with them), but still like to drive on roads etc etc. This puts them into the category of most people around the world, who feel that manna falls from heaven, and they don't actually need to worry about actually PAYING for things they use. The big, bad guverment will do that for them. Somehow. With somebody else's money. I fear your country has been in one war too many, and somebody had better pay the piper one of these days or we're all going down with you. That said, I like most of Bob Drye's comments. There are just different ways of arriving at that ideal. VOTE. Doesn't matter who for.
  24. I agree, the problem is everywhere. The only slight little hitch in not doing anything is that the world economy has a real chance of going down the drain. I got out of high school in the late 70's and by the time it came to go out and be something in the world, it was almost as bad as the 30's,at least where I lived in Canada: I couldn't get a job as a dishwasher. I don't want that again.
  25. Would you consider selling Alaska to somebody in Europe or something? I know a lot about Russia, having one of my university minors in Russian language and culture, and I don't want them as a close neighbour!! Nothing too personal you understand! Generally speaking, we quite like having Americans as neighbours thank you very much.
