I think discussing these things on this type of forum is very healthy. These are people who are not, for the most part, from what I can see, idiots, and can all influence people in their small, but significant, spheres. Everyone is important, and that is kind of the point of all this, isn't it? A lot of places in the world don't let you yabber on about anything you want (mostly) like this one does. Of course, maybe they all do, and we've been brainwashed.

The sad thing nowadays is that people lose so much faith in the "system" (which has always given advantage to a small group over the masses) that they give up. This is the ONLY failure of all of us. Some of us are just very very lucky by virtue of where we were born.

Although I admit that I'm not taking it off anytime soon, I don't think, I believe it is total overkill in my car, and adds unnecessary complexity to what should be a simple car. But the beauty of these things, is that you can do whatever your heart desires with them, even the Caterhams!

Well, it took a while, but I would call that GOOD news!

Provided it meets the standard, fit and helmet weight are most important. You don't want a heavy pumpkin holder, or your neck will be very sore, very fast. Measure your head about 20 times before you order anything online, and you still might not get a very good fit.

That was really good!

Just because they are all fat, and speak - strangely - doesn't mean they can't drive. -
I wish people would stop blaming the Chinese for everything. If Americans, and people from other Western countries didn't go over there looking to build factories, using cheaper, (obviously non-union) labour, this would not be problem. Support our own, and this is not an issue. Easy to say, hard to do.

I'll bet you wanted a buggy whip and a hand crank with your first car too.

Would installing a fuel swirl pot help?

It looks like a mini van.

If I was still living on the coast, I'd help for sure! As it is, I am sure someone will come along, but it tends to be a solitary process, because really, not many people know what they are doing when it comes to these types of cars. Essentially, you take one step at a time (like wiring), and before you know it, you're mostly there. The last 5% takes 95% of the time, however. If you truly get stumped, I am sure David S-P would finish it for you. He's in Chemainus, on the Island.

I went a few years ago, stayed in Canterbury, and can highly recommend it. Yes, everyone likes Stoneleigh better, but I went to Detling because the dates worked for us that year, and loved just being around a bunch of people who completely understood my car.

It is definitely a lot of fun doing autocross, but some guys are VERY good, and if you don't have super duper tires, you are going to be slower. You are in the same class as cars set up specifically for the task at hand. I've never had a bad day doing it though, no matter what I've driven! The key is to concentrate during the course walks... I have trouble with that bit, because my attention span is about as long as your average run in the car.

That is the most useful comment in a while! It's hard for us "up here" to agree with a lot of what goes on "down there", and vice versa, which is why we live where we do. To be controversial again, though, I truly don't understand the abject fear of THE GOVERNMENT that many pro-gun people have. I don't go around thinking how the world is nuts, and I have to "PROTECT MY FAMILY" from all evildoers. I know someone in Canada like this too (although he is an immigrant, suspicious in itself, don't you think?). I just don't get it. The government only represents what we vote for, so we only have ourselves to blame.

Seems the wing doesn't do a lot, considering how much the back end goes out. Yawn...

Are there any other controversial subjects we can bring up? This all has to end in a bad way: fraticide, as we slay each others' arguments, and offend as many people as we can. I find it all extremely sad, from beginning to end.

Depends what you mean by winter. Snow? Forget it. Freezing temps, no snow or ice? Sure, I've done it! Top? What's that? Your legs will be warm; hands, neck and head: not so much (even with gloves, hoodie, and the thickest winter coat I have). People already stare, but when it's cold out, you become positively extraterrestial.

I think we have to make a distinction between guns for hunting/target shooting and collecting for the hell of it, and keeping a weapon to kill someone with. Most of the rest of the world doesn't have a weapons element in their constitution, that you Americans have interpreted as the right for the INDIVIDUAL to fight a foreign entity, using his assault rifle/pea shooter/whatever he keeps in the garage/basement/bedside table. I see your constitution differently, and read it as the right to COLLECTIVELY fight, which is kind of laudable. But I have no say in your country, and you will decide what to do in future, if anything.

Yeah, but then you get prisons overcrowding and all that. Or you just charge by the night, as they do some places, and you get money, AND people off the street. Wait a minute...

So some research as to why alcohol was prohibited. It is too late for that now, but not too late for other things, like pot. I only bring this up because you seem unable to get off this train of "alcohol is bad, therefore we have to allow pot" argument, that is a false one from every angle. You know, hemlock is also natural, and is poisonous to humans, so not everything in nature is good for us. I like life as it is, myself, and prefer my wits about me - he said, sanctimoniously.

I always find the argument that "alcohol has caused problems, therefore pot is good" a bit thin. What adults do with what they grow themselves, I have no problems with. I do get a bit concerned when SkinnyG's clientele go downhill at a very young age. Argue all you want, but I have never heard of anybody who has ruined their life, who did NOT start with booze and pot abuse first. And we all have family members or friends who have been affected negatively by this, whether we know it or not. I don't know what the answer is, but I've lived beside hard drug addicts (neighbours), and it is no fun (massive understatement). One actually had a nice Cobra replica. Talk about giving cars like ours a bad name! But you have to admit, that the legal systems in the western world, can benefit from a bit of slack, and going after adults who possess pot for their own use, is not that productive.

I agree that is a nice looking exo car! One of the best looking ones I've ever seen. I don't honestly think there are many margins to be had in any kit car business, unless you ramp up to FFR's level. For the average consumer (whom you need to survive), you still end up with a fairly unreliable, English car. But I've never owned a Caterham! Making things in Asia is a stupid idea. Shipping costs a fortune now, service is zero. AND it kills our economies. We can thank the big US business people for that one, which helps drive down wages for Americans. Anyways, I think the idea that we all drive cars, so we should be able to get most people on board with the idea of a tiny little pocket rocket, based on a car from the 60's, is a little optimistic. There just aren't that many crazy people out there (well there are, but you know what I mean).
