  1. Steve, Working with another member on the exhaust. Will try Redline by phone in the future. Have emailed several times and no response. Cheers, Vin
  2. All, Burton got back to me on the intake and recommended the 3.1" intake (their part #IM4242A). Ken Gray at Dave Bean has been a big help, I don't think they are closing, and hope not. Vin
  3. Iamscotticus, Thanks for the reply. Sorry for the delay, took the wife to Florida for her B'day. I will check part out and keep that in mind. Other option is to fab one, perfed pipe in a pipe, might be all I need... Cheers, Vin
  4. Hope everyone is good. Looking for a 4 into one exhaust system for a 1979 Seven with a cross flow engine. Caterham has the kit, however, the silencer is not available and they won't sell a partial kit. Figured I would look on this side of the pond before I ordered in pieces from them. Cheers, Vin
  5. John, Thank you, I should have picked up on that! Have reached out to Burton and Redline to confirm fitment to this chassis. Vin
  6. 7Westfield, Burton does not specify the height or offset. Not sure if Westfield chassis is same dimensions my Arch. Will check with Pierce, thanks! Anker, engine is a 1600 with a .030 overbore. I agree the longer runners are better for power, just not sure of how far the air cleaner will stick out. Most photos it looks like the rear air cleaner barely sticks out the cutout in the hood. Tony Weales rebuild restoration book says the manifold is a custom part made for Lotus / Caterham. I wish I had thought of setting the bare block in the chassis before I sent it to the re-builder. Both he and I want to run in the engine on his test stand, so I need the intake to do so. Vin
  7. Hope all are doing well. I need to get an intake manifold for a Cross Flow w/ twin Weber 40's. Burton has several with various lengths and they advised to take measurements, however, engine is still at re-builders. From photos, my guess is the shortest (3.1") one that Burton offers? Any inputs / advise is greatly appreciated. Vin
  8. Anker, Thanks for the reply. There was no m/s that came on the car. I heard back from Caterham and the up-rated one became available, so I ordered it from them. Cheers, Vin
  9. Great inputs! Will contact them. I was wondering why I see "socks" over the m/c cylinders in photos Cheers, Vin
  10. I am looking to purchase an up-rated master cylinder, Caterham part #77176 or a good substitute for the 1979 Seven I am building. Not having any luck with Caterham, US suppliers, AP, etc. Any and all inputs welcome. Vin
  11. Will keep that in mind, thx!
  12. Thanks for the input on the trans. I figured I would want a lighter weight bell housing, so will source that. Need to get the box built with the Quaife gearset. Hoping someone in the Northeast can do it. Have found some that just want a core. Cheers, Vin
  13. John, Thanks for the inputs. Will do and post what I find out. Cheers, Vin
  14. John, Hope all is well. Would you recommend AP brake & clutch masters for the 1979 I am putting together (a Lotus for Lars). The front brakes are GT-6 and the rears are a Sierra Cosworth disc kit from Motorsport tools. I have 3/16 brake lines and an adjustable proportioning valve. Cross flow is to be approx 140 HP. Trans is Pinto 4sp, that I am going to have built into a "rocket box" w/quaife gears. I am thinking hydraulic clutch is the way to go. Is there a throw out bearing set up you would recommend for this? Part #'s and preferred USA 7's suppliers would be great if you have them? Have a Happy and Safe New Years, Vin
  15. Thanks all for replies and encouragement! Will post more pics as it progresses!
  16. The DSK story can be found at this link: http://www.simplesevens.org/dsk/index.htm
  17. As suggested by Steve (bball7754) and JohnCh, here is the build adventure of a Lotus for Lars. Lars and our families became friends when after my wife overheard him talking about a Cobra kit car his brother David was building. Lars was a great guy with an infectious laugh and sense of humor. His preferred transportation was on a motorcycle (various street/trail bikes or a Ural with a side car) wearing old leathers well into his 70's. When the helmet came off, the usual hat of choice was a beat up "Manure Movers Local #" hat! You just had to laugh. Turns out, they both had Sevens too. David bought his complete and Lars bought a kit (Arch chassis #282 of 1979). A cross flow engine was sent out for rebuild, and for reasons unknown was never returned. Along came two great daughters, college, and medical school expenses, and the Seven hung from the rafters of a barn for nearly forty years. We lost Lars in 2019 and David in 2003. When told of plans last winter, to have a scrap metal guy take the car, I was compelled to not let that happen. So I asked if I could put it together as a tribute to Lars, as I had done with a 31 Chevy Street Rod, which belonged to another friend and later my father in law. The series of events and the people this build has led to has been incredibly rewarding! While cleaning and organizing the parts, I came across some parts and instructions from DSK and Raceware, Inc. which were in Marblehead, MA. A google search led me to SimpleSevens.org, John Donohoe, and the story of DSK (I urge all to read). John put me in touch with David S Kaplan, who it turns out, lives 20 mi from me! David advised me on a better (spherical bearing set up) for the rear a frame. Then, John and I convinced our wonderful wives, that we should meet at the Watkins Glen vintage race, with a Bonnett, nose cone, and steering wheel John was supplying. Turns out we have much in common from cars, the IT field, to hot dogs! Kudos to the girls for keeping up while John and I chased down cars of interest like kids in a candy store! One of those cars was a Red, 1971 Capri, and having had the same car in high school, I had to check it out. A conversation with two great guys, the mechanic Mark and driver Ira, about cross flow engines and my need for one, and a couple months later, a buddy of mine and I are at Mark's in Virginia, talking cars and picking up a cross flow for the Seven! A debt of gratitude to John, David, and Mark for being such a big part of this story. When it is done, pick the track, and we will meet there with our cars! Also need to thank Ken Gray at Dave Bean Racing for all his inputs and supplying all the needed front end and front brake parts, Alan Jones at Motorsport Tools, UK for the rear disc conversion kit and his cad drawings that made the install clear, and Anthony Mitchell at Burton Power for all his advise on the engine build and parts sourcing. More to come I am sure! Cheers, Vin
  18. Steve, Thanks for the reply. Yes, I have (and favor) the Clam shells for it. It has a long way to go, but has come a long way too! Cheers, Vin
  19. Dwight, Thanks for taking the time to follow up. My car was purchased as a kit (Arch chassis #282 of 1979) by a friend I lost a couple of years ago. He never completed the car, so I am putting it together as a rolling tribute to him. Many of the parts were with it, but many were missing too. He had sent a crossflow engine out for repair, and it was never returned. So far, I have met some great people, that have supplied missing parts, (Engine, trans, bonnet, nose cone, steering wheel). The rims have never had tires on them, the seats, and weather kit, are brand new, in original packaging. Attached is it in the barn...
  20. TMLR7, Thank you for recommending British Wiring in PA. I have contacted them to supply the loom for my car. Cheers to you and another Seven in MA!
  21. Dwight & Nick, Thank you for the reply and info. Working on getting a wiring Loom from Autosparks in the UK. I will make sure they can provide a socket and flasher that will work w with LED. My car hung from the rafters of a barn for forty years, has come a long way, but still a much to be done. Attached is progress so far. Cheers, Vin
  22. Wingards look best for sure. What were the led bulbs you used and did they fit the standard sockets? Thx, Vin
  23. Thanks to all replies. Found a very nice 711M and also found a Transmission and bell housing as well! The only major missing pieces now are a wiring loom, and radiator / fan setup. Cheers, and Merry Christmas to all!
  24. Is the rollbar still available?
