  1. Looking for recommendations on a Quick release steering hub for 79 Seven with the collapsible column. I would like a bolt on set up if any exist. Happy Thanksgiving to all, V
  2. From what they said, I believe it is. I ordered it, and will post how it worked out. The car so far...
  3. Thanks guys for the reply and great info. Since I do not have a core, I am leaning towards getting part # 60027020A from Caterham. They have informed me that the wheel box spacing will not be correct, but I believe the spacing can be modified by trimming the tubes.
  4. In need of a complete wiper assembly for my 1979 RHD Seven. I believe they came from the Mini, just not sure of cutoff years. Moss has parts from 1969 on. Would be happy with a decent used on that came off a Seven. V
  5. Tim, Congrats on your award at the British Invasion in Stowe! Not surprised, your Seven is amazing! The foam pieces are on metal tabs which I believe are for an oil cooler, but am not sure. The foam is there as a result of finding the tabs with my forehead too many times! Yes the manifold worked out perfect, thanks again! The front suspension (upper & lower A-arms, sway bar, and aluminum blocks) are all DSK, not Lotus or Caterham. Lars made many trips to DSK in Marblehead, MA to purchase parts. As you know, Great info on the story of DSK on John Donohoe's SimpleSevens site for those who have not read it. Talk soon, V
  6. Ordered from Pierce Manifold, thanks for all the inputs!
  7. Finally to the point of needing to determine what air horns / velocity stacks and screens to use for Cross flow w/ Weber 40's. Any suggestions on type (slide in or bolt on), length, materials, fasteners, and suppliers is greatly appreciated. I am told the domed screens are hard to come by?
  8. Attached are the trans and bellhousing ready to go in. Mount is the same either way. You are right about the shifter placement too. As another test, I sat in the car and my left hand is under the dash without having my arm full extended, so should not be a problem. Will have to modify the Quaife shifter I bought, cut and/or bend.
  9. Modified Burton bell housing by rounding off square area of shift for opening. Finally got the engine & trans in car for test fit. Holes on trans mount are about an 1/8" too forward so will drill mount, NP there. The shifter seems way forward, and the engine seems tilted down towards front, making me wish I had a thinner trans mount. It was suggested that I cut some of the V part of that goes in the the trans tail shaft casing to lower it. Does not look like there is much to work with there, so I am reluctant to do that. Research on UK sites, leads me to think Arch had a different frame cross member for Sevens with Type E, Escort, or type 9 trans?
  10. MV8, Good point there. I am going to set the engine / trans combo in the chassis and confirm before I do any modifications. Will post pic. The trans tunnel cover has never been cut for the shifter opening. The car is a 1979 Arch chassis that hung from the rafters of a barn and was never put together. Got it with no power train. The bell housings in photos you sent and others I have seen look smaller and more circular than the two I have (Burton BH6 and stock Ford that came with the Trans from a 77 Pinto Wagon), so I am not sure if I still need something that Caterham had made. The ford one has the starter on the pedal box side and the starter does not align with the flywheel. I believe it came from a V6 car.
  11. I am thinking since I own the BH6, I will cut away the part of the clutch fork opening and have a piece welded in with a hole & grommet for the hydralic feed and bleed lines. Got nothing to lose by trying. Still curious as to what Lotus, Caterham used with LHD cars with this engine & trans
  12. Hope all are well, Trying to engine / trans combo. Got a BH6A Bellhousing, which has the starter on the left, from Burton, and does not clear the pedal box. I am using a concentric hydraulic clutch set up, and the raised area where the clutch fork would normally go, is where it hits the pedal box. Hoping someone has run into this and can recommend the correct bellhousing? V
  13. MV8, Great info there, appreciate the knowledge sharing!. Will count trans gear teeth, take pic, and do the calculations. Speedo is Smiths from an MGB. Best, V
  14. Ha, they are great for siphoning too! Keep one on my snowmobile, in case anyone runs out of fuel!
  15. This is the input. Not finding any right angle adapters with this type of cable input, only threaded type. Did find an adapter to go from this Ford type to 7/8" GM. Might have to do in two pieces? Will send pics to Kelvedon..
  16. Nice job, Thank you for the pics. My alternator is very similar, but v belt. So I will put the MIG welder to use. Cheers, V
  17. MV8, That is great! I did not know about that supplier! Cheers, V
  18. Great points there. Thank you!
  19. Hey all, Has anyone sourced a speedo cable for a Seven with Rocket box trans and Smith speedo. I am told I will need a right angle drive too? The trans has a fork type clip to hold in the large cable end, internet search shows all threaded type and adapter to go from Ford to GM. Greatly appreciated, V
  20. Bluemax, Nice build. Just about to install my crossflow, and saw the alternator bracket on yours. The one I have is steel and not Chapman approved. Where did you source yours? Best, V
  21. Appreciate all the inputs. Ordered Triumph type, and will adjust accordingly for proper gauge function. I have in the past put resistors in series or parallel so gauge sees the correct impedance / load.
  22. Thanks for the quick response, will check out both options!
  23. Hope all are well, Time to set the new stock tank. Looking for recommendations on the sender unit. Gauges are Smith from an MG, looks like the TR-4 or early Midget sender units will fit?
  24. 8162 Mount fits the trans and frame fine. Will check pinion angle when I get the Engine & driveshaft back...
  25. Mv8, Appreciate the heads up on that. Got the engine in pieces, less crank, so never got to test fit. Burton Bellhousing is same depth as stock, and others have said the E will work well with the Cross flow. Planned on checking tolerances and your measurement method will be very useful. Cheers, V
