  1. Per Burton, From: Anthony Mitchell [mailto:Anthony.Mitchell@burtonpower.com] Sent: Monday, July 04, 2022 4:12 AM To: vdisangro Subject: Re: FW: FW: FW: Cross Flow parts for 1979 Caterham Seven Hi Vin, Hope all good your end, please find below a link to our website for the hydraulic clutch conversion. https://www.burtonpower.com/hydraulic-clutch-cylinder-nose-apc5.html https://www.burtonpower.com/hydraulic-clutch-mount-apc5-rocket-type-e-gearbox-apc6a.html https://www.burtonpower.com/clutch-release-bearing-for-apc5-carrier-hd4941.html https://www.burtonpower.com/hydraulic-feed-and-bleed-hose-kit-for-apc5-apc8.html https://www.burtonpower.com/reservoir-feed-pipe-fitting-12-long-genuine-goodridge-brk013g.html https://www.burtonpower.com/single-reservoir-mounting-bracket-alloy-brk018.html https://www.burtonpower.com/brake-fluid-reservoir-small-with-7-16unf-outlet-brk019.html https://www.burtonpower.com/obp-brake-clutch-master-cylinder-625in-obpcb002.html you will need to follow the following to achieve the desired size spacer required. : Measure from the back of the block to the face of the clutch cover assembled to the flywheel. : Then Measure the face of the Bellhousing to the face of the release bearing which would be assembled to the front of the main case. : Minus the figure from bellhousing face to bearing from clutch cover to block figure, this calculation will give the space size required.
  2. Great advice. Drive shaft hoops from drag days was on my mind, given the proximity and just aluminum panel, Arch tunnel reinforcement around it. They make one that is a heavy cable type for Corvettes, that I can adapt, but need something wider to capture grease.
  3. Type E Rocket Box, 23 spline. Found the trans in Long Island, came out of a 77 Pinto w/ V6. Had it built into a rocket box w/ Quaife gearset at Quantum Mechanics in CT. Also have Quaife shifter for it. Should handle the power...
  4. Some more progress, got the trans back and Engine run in this week!
  5. MV8, Thank you for taking the time to clear up. Got the 8162 mount and just got the Trans back this week. Will be test fitting this weekend.
  6. I will measure and compare to Burton specs. Have three orders currently with them, and figured I might find one this side of the pond before I place a 4th. Best, V
  7. Here is the mount area in the tunnel. The trans is at the builders and I don't have a pic of the mount area, but the Pinto mount that was on it used a single bolt in the center
  8. Unfortunately, I do not have an old one. Burton has several listed but none specify Seven.
  9. Hope all are enjoying summer. Soon to be test fitting engine & trans. Looking for a part # or source for a transmission mount. V
  10. NSXGuy, This is the AP I got from Caterham on my 79 Seven. All seems good, but I have not driven the car yet (still waiting on Engine). I did fit a clutch m/s next to it, with no problem, as the bowl landed right at the narrow part of the brake m/s. V
  11. MV8, Thanks for the link, will order. My google search did not find any, but as always, its how you word the search! Best to you, V
  12. Saw that and the clip that goes with it. Unfortunatly the gaiter has been out of stock for a while.
  13. I got the info from Arch motors regarding the "short" nose. The measurement is taken nose down from the the floor and is 1.5 inches shorter than a Lotus one. The Dzus bracket on the frame are too far forward to use a long one.
  14. MV8, Agreed. The chassis never had the bracket. I ordered the parts from Burton, all were available except the cylinder nose which is 1-2 weeks lead time. Going to use the stock aluminum bellhousing I have if all fits. Just missing the rubber gaiter, which is not available. Appreciate your inputs. Cheers, Vinman
  15. Still looking for inputs. See different set ups, some being internal with many parts and others seem to just add a slave cylinder externally with the cable clutch fork?
  16. Hope all are good. Looking for an early (1979) Caterham nose cone. It would be what is referred to as a "short" nose cone. Length would be 24.5" (vs. 26") from floor with it resting nose down. Vinman
  17. Yes, mine is opposite, although the Tee with the brake switch is in the same spot. I agree on the external slave cylinder. Motorsport tools has what looks to be the right bell housing, but expensive.
  18. The bell housing I have has starter on Carb side, which since it is RHD, is the pedal box, and steering gear side, with battery on opposite side. My thoughts are 1) starter closer to battery and easy to remove 2) slave cylinder-clutch release arm closer to pedal box & clutch master cylinder. Frame does not have bracket for cable clutch, and I want to keep as Arch built with no welding mods.
  19. Hope all are enjoying summer. I am trying to figure out the best Bell housing, Hydraulic clutch set up and source for a Crossflow powered (130Hp+/-) 1979 RHD Seven with a Rocket box transmission. I have the stock clutch arm and aluminum cable Bell housing. Not sure if I need replace these or not. I see offerings from Burton and MotorSport tools, hoping a member has done this change or can let me know what the stock set-up is (i.e. starter on right or left?) Best to all, V
  20. Hope all are good. Before I fab some or order from across the pond, I thought I would reach out and see if any members had a set of Engine stands to sell. Looks like the builder will be done with my engine soon! V
  21. Thanks all, great info! Looking forward to driving a Seven!
  22. Hope all are doing well, Looking to source upper and lower radiator hoses for a 1979 Seven RHD with a Crossflow. Thx
  23. Some progress, brake lines made up & installed.
  24. Iamscoticus, Front calipers are GT-6. Car is a live axle with English Ford rear end. I did a rear disc conversion with a kit from Motorsport Tools that has Cosworth calipers. The car came with the original 13" K&N wheels, so caliper clearance / choices are limited. Won't know for sure until I drive it, but I believe the brake set up will be good. I do have a build thread, but I do need to get better at, find time for posting... V
  25. Toldfield, Ken at Dave Bean has been a huge help on my project. The uprights, axles, bearings, races, calipers, caliper brackets, brake shoes, bushings, and hardware all were recommended and sourced by him. His knowledge on these cars is incredible. The brake lines and AP racing m/c came from Cateram Vin
