It looks like a 2005 Elise ECU (2006 and up had a heat sink cover). However, the 2005 ECU had one large and one small plug rather than three small plugs for the electrical connections.

Referencing the orange striped V8 stalker above, is anyone familiar with this car? Or can anyone describe the driving experience (track) of a V8 in this chassis? -
My brake lights quit working on my 1999. I determined it was the switch. I didn't want to bother Caterham with a small pesky purchase so I took it apart. Cleaned the contacts and it's been working fine. The surprising part was that the switch looked like it was made to be serviced - you can actually take it apart without it breaking.

If Lotsats decides against the half hood, I will purchase it. -
If you are running a full windshield, there's a clip on 'wink' mirror that I really like. Sold at mirrorsforsevens.com

These are for sale at caterhamparts.co.uk not black though. Also, not sure about fitment on your SV though.

Did anyone here buy the 2005 Orange Caterham SV advertised on ebay? Located in Philadelphia and sold today. Looked good. -
Would it be practical to replace the stand alone with a stock Zetec ECU? It could then be tuned by someone like Tom at HPDYNO@aol.com. He is currently tuning my 1999 Zetec. A number of Elise/Exige owners have replaced their stand alone ECUs with stock Lotus ECUs. They were then tuned by BOE. Reading the forums, they tune the stock ECU to support about any combination of modifications including superchargers/turbos.

Someone got a nice 7. Anyone know what part of the country it is off to?
-
It looks like the one made by BOE Fabrication is popular with the Elise/Exige track people. http://www.boefab.com/collections/track-parts/products/surge-tank

They have two left, they list them as originally sold by Caterham, part number COV1 CO35001SN. Bought one, soon find out how it fits.

At the same time they are allowing the Slingshot, TX is taking back owner's titles on the Ariel Atoms?

Do you have more details on the engine? Thanks, Rich -
I'm looking to replace the radiator in my 1999 Zetec Caterham. Are there any good options other than factory. Not looking for triple pass or anything like that. Thanks, Rich

Skip, When I ordered the Airlift from Amazon the Hose Removal Tool popped up as something I might want to order at the same time. It's part # is OTC 4521. If my Google search is correct, Sears sells them too. Rich

Yes Skip, thanks for the help. It should have read inches. I've attached a picture of the Airlift tool for reference.

My 1999 Zetec started running hot last summer. Not in the red zone but very close. I had replaced the thermostat earlier and was concerned there might be air trapped in the system. I drained the system and bought an Airlift tool to help in replacing the coolant. The instructions say to bring the vacuum to 24-26 pounds monitor for leaks and open the valve to draw the new coolant into the system. It worked really well in filling the system. However, I soon noticed that the 26 pounds of vacuum had compressed both the bottom and top tanks of the radiator. I thought maybe the concave top and bottom were like that before I started - maybe up to 1/4" compression but the cracked paint proved that to not be the case. Still running hot, maybe it's just the sensor. The radiator has developed a drip-an-hour leak. The leak can be repaired, not sure about repairing the concave tanks. Anyone know the best source for a new radiator?

Years ago I traced down an alternator with a shorted diode that was draining the battery, that was before all of the modern electronics that draw current when the car is turned off. However, this still could be useful. Disconnect the ground lead of the battery and place a multimeter (set to the highest millamps range) between the ground lead and the battery terminal. An inexpensive (Radio Shack type analog multimeter would be the best. A current reading likely will be shown. Note, if you have a very high current draw, it can damage the meter or meter's internal fuse. Start at a high range current setting and work down. Disconnect items like the alternator and remove fuses one by one to see if the current reading decreases. This can help isolate the area of the problem.

Skip, Thanks for the adrenaline rush. I would not have know about the auction without your post. Yours truly, another non-winner, Rich

No, I got this from Sevens & Elans.

I bought this kit new and bolted it up. Unfortuantely, the water pump inlet was in the path of the serpentine belt. I removed the kit - it was never used. A different style water pump would have solved my problem, but I never got around to it. Cost new about $195.00 plus shipping. Sell for $110.00 plus $12.00 UPS shipping (includes assembly, bolts and belt)

Thanks Bruce, from your pictures, mine is a ZX2. I guess I need to do some research on using the ZX3 pump on my ZX2. Rich

I bought the serpentine belt anti-squeal kit a couple of years ago and just got around to installing it recently. Turns out it seems the water pump inlet is in the path of the belt. The attached picture is a top down view of the front of the engine. Harmonic balancer, water pump pulley and idler pulley (top pulley) are shown. The belt should run from the harmonic balancer directly to the idler pulley but the water pump inlet is directly in it's path. Any suggestions? Thanks, Rich 1999 Zetec
