    Not too shabby

It was/is Arnie Webb's. One of the Big Doods on the Lotus 7 forums UK. m
  2. Cheers Mazda. Cheers John. m
  3. Phew! it has taken me since 01 01 1970 to remember my password (You last visited 01-01-1970 at 1200am) m
  4. What is your seven doing? Sleeping? It was 35 degrees yesterday and I had to move mine to another storage garage. With the snow and ice around it was fun. Haven't driven the car since Nov. I really missed it. Here's someone doing things with their seven that I would not do.http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/2032823392_op702snow.jpg Err. The pic was taken at atrack event at Oulton Park UK 2/7/09. It is the intellectual property of Chrisbie on the Talk Photography site. it may be removed if the owner requests. Legal Beagles ok? m
  5. Step 2. Unbolt front windshield... m
  6. You are wise to avoid using the rear mudguards for weight support. On the Birkin,The flexing of the fiberglass will quickly cause "crazing". You can tell as you'll see fine cracks in the paint finish from the flexing of the fiberglass under the inflexible paint. Without abuse, Eventually, after about 8 years or so, the flapping/vibration of the mudguards is going to cause crazing, but not fractures around the mounting bolts. The guy is not that experienced. Either he's just gotten the car, or he has not noticed the damage yet. My car has an Ultrashield 14" drivers seat. I'm 6' 176lb with bad back. I duck under the hood and rest my Right hand on the passenger side curved arch by the top of the passenger's seat. Then I plant my Right foot in the driver's footwell and then my Left hand is on the left torso bolster of the driver's seat for extra support while I insert my Left leg into the footwell. By this point I think my chuff is hitting the top. Because I cannot lower myself directly down into the narrow seat, I somehow keep my self close to the steering wheel, then lower my arse and scoot backwards :jester: If anyone is watching, I attempt to charge them $5 for entertainment. :yesnod: m
  7. Birkin . My First PC680 lasted 8 months. The second PC680 died last fall after 8 years. It caused some unusual charging behaviour from the alternator before it was apparent that it, and not the charging system was the culprit. m
  8. Oops! Heh-heh! Nice Green Birkin with Dunnell kit in there as well. m
  9. Those of you with Birkins and the Factory defrost front windshield should keep in mind that the defroster grind shortens the range of your radar receivers.:yesnod: m
  10. I did not know it was such a secret. I have Known for quite a while . I'd like to know who the Aussie Stiq is. I'm Hoping that it is Craig Lowndes...Triple Eight Ford team Oz V8 SuperCars. m
  11. Bummer. I did not see this on the Lotus forum. RIP Number Six. m
  12. I'd like to know as well. I have no idea what the particulars are for US sources. I have some parts #'s from UK sources, but that would confuse the issue as they are the kit for a euro Ford Mondeo 1.8. AKA Ford Contour but we got the 2.0 I'd recommend you try D. Brink at Texas Motorworks. m
  13. How long has it been since Yok A008 tyres were available out side of the 10" Ur- Mini size? m
  14. My Birkin came with unremarkable 195 50 15 Firestones on the supplied TSW wheels. I switched to 205 50 15 V700 Victoracers from Kumho and had some rubbing of the shoulders on the Mudguard brackets. I obtained a 1" x2" piece of wood, placed it behind the inside wheel rim and carefully tightened the wheel nuts. The mudguard bracket struts will bend and give you the necessary clearance. m
  15. Ginetta Clone. m
  16. Do what Stan says and tilt the seat back. Next, What you need for padding is a product called *backsaver pad*. While not cheap, you get a Military spec shock absorbing pad that you trim and use it to replace the padding provided by ultrashield. I use a 14 " rally sport seat from ultrashield. With the backsaver pad, this combo is more comfortable than the Recaros in my E30 M3 and much more comfy than the jokes called Vaders that are in my E36 M3. www.pegasusautoracingsupplies.com sells the Backsaver pad. m
  17. I've been experiencing this intermittent loss of access for a week. m
  18. As of last saturday, There has been some sanding and deicing slime applied to the major arteries in Eastern Iowa. m
  19. What are these desirable Automotive traits of which they speak? I thought that the 2008 Cat EVO 500 was the paradigm of such Goodness. I guess Cat should supply me an EVO 500 for a ten year evaluation to see if it can be improved upon. :yesnod: m
  20. Last sunday, I travelled from East central Iowa up to the Minneapolis suburbs. I got to check out the fall colours up there. It was lucky for me because I was a passenger. For the last 7 falls I have wanted to go check out the fall colours on nice roads. It never happens. If I'm in a 7 and the roads are curvy... :7fume: I cannot help it. Me, the car, the corners. That's all I'll see. m
  21. If the R500 was wearing R comps and alignment geometry was set up for Rcomps, I think it would have had the best lap time also. I reckon that a set of Rcomps would have allowed it to overcome the 211's ABS (confidence factor) and bleed speed more quickly. That particular Atom seemed to be set up poorly. I've seen them have a much better balance on the track. Must be the same Mule that the Drivers Republic used for their comparo. Even if the seven was the slowest with Rcomps, it would be my choice. I would not pick the Atom, and would pick a boggo Elise over the 211. The drive to the track , kick butt and drive home concept has always appealed to me. m
  22. That was my thought ..."Prowler Clone". m
  23. If you have the option, the Duratech has more performance potential, plus it's easier on the ears(off side exhaust.) m
  24. Skip. This car was running SCCA solo2 DMod in 1983. The owner is a retired Porsche Tech/independent Shop owner. From what I remember, the frame was extensively modified due to the width of the engine, and it used a rear mounted transaxle. Induction was Weber IDA down draught carbs. It tossed a rod, and was replaced with a punched out 327 and ran in EMod in the early to mid 90s. At that time , the car would break its driveshafts. The car was sold and went west, but was still competing in solo 2 in the late 90's. I'll ask the Previous owner if he has any pics. m
  25. Amen. I don't run with a spare. I have picked up a nail but the tyre did not deflate. (Famous last words eh?) My pressures are 18F/18-20 R. My 7logic dictates that since My tyres were designed for cars twice the weight or more a deflation will be less immobilizing(Sort of like run-flat logic ). I also think that the Bare stubby rump of a 7 looks like the dogs... m
