  1. Both my front brakes are dragging. Likely culprate is a dirty caliper piston sleeve? What else might you recommend? I assume this is not dangerous other than the risk of disc warpage and fast deterioration of pads?
  2. fantastic movie night! Great guest speakers! It was awesome to watch a 935 lay a foot and a half wide strip of black rubber 100 feet down the front straight at Mosport. Ludwig Heimrath described the 935 as his favourite race car and that he was often sideways all the way from turn 10 to turn 1. Absolute power corrupts absolutely!
  3. Congrats! She looks super-clean, very light and with a monster motor. Looks like a street legal flat-track sprint car.
  4. fantastic - thanks for the info
  5. Hi Dingo, I found some of your original pics from your first post to the forum. The set up looks great. Can you send me a part number or dimensions off the carb when you get near the car? Thanks. PS she looks great in the pics
  6. Hello, I've decided to ditch my tall airhorns and foam socks and get a K&N. A concern raised is that the clamshell fender interferes with the K&N. Does anyone with this spec have a recommendation for the right size and part number for the K&N and a pic you would be willing to post to show me the look and clerance? 7. It is always catastrophic when someone drives a car when distraught. I think we have become desensitized to the true power of 3000lbs of steel travelling at speed.

    Great Video

Thats how I feel everytime I go for a drive.
  9. thats pretty much the nastiest non-racing related crash I've ever seen. woosh, bounce, KABOOM!
  10. I just received a set of parts catalogues from dave bean engineering. What a great resource. The owner infused the catalogue with tons of useful and often very funny comments about the do's and don'ts of old english car maintenance.
  11. 640HP with the weight of a Super Seven http://www.grouplotus.net/managedcontent/view/233 F1 experience for the super rich
  12. I think I may have overfilled the dry sump tank. That might be contributing to the oil smoke. I will put together a catch tank. Thanks bsimon
  13. I checked with Burton power and it looks like the dry sumped xflow rocker covers have no vents. I have attached a pick of the hose in question (circled in red). Where is this suppossed to vent? Directly to the atmosphere? BSIMON, do you have a picture that will show where this is suppossed to route?
  14. looka like the previous owner did not install a rocker cover with a breather tube when he did a dry sump conversion. The tube at the top of the oil tank just leads under the car. I will look for a proper rocker cover and see if that fixes things up. Thanks bsimon
  15. Oops, sorry for the hijack. I think the full R500 treatment will be wicked!
  16. I think this is what you are suggesting is a more holistic look
  17. If I really wanted to go full racer, I could do something like this and put a racing circle and a BIG "4" on the hood
  18. which one looks better or none at all?
  19. opinions on both options? P.S. I really like the R500 look. A great transformation
  20. Oyagi, I have been considering a stripe, but need an opinion or two. Here is a mock up of a single yellow strip on a car that is very similar to mine. Looks good or not?
  21. I know RUF used the label already for the legendary RUF CTR, but you might consider "YellowBird" Another kickname could be "JATO" (jet assisted take off). It kind of sound Japanese to align with the rotary engine. Just some early ideas
  22. Thanks I am hoping to get to an auto-x soon. I was recently surprised by the lack of understeer in the wet while doing a little unofficial skid pad in a wet parking lot.
  23. I went for a long drive last night. I'm finding the driving experience really unusual. I need to learn the trust the front end better. I'm used to sitting in the middle of a wheel base. My brain keeps envisioning understeer as I enter the turn because the front axle is way out in front. Then I keep expecting oversteer as I hit the apex as my butt sits on the tilting rear axle. I guess I will just reprogram myself with more practice. I weigh about 155lbs. What would be the approx front/rear weight distribution of the car with me in it? That info might help me assess the handling traits better.
  24. I'm in for sure.
