  1. "Red Mist Stuff" August 25 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- $10 ticket from Mini Grid (416-488-7663), I thought it might be a good way to spend a Wednesday evening and of course the Chick'n Deli is right across the street. Mini Grid is sponsoring a screening of the subject pic on Wednesday August 25 at the old Regent Theatre on Mount Pleasant Road. It's the story of the Mosport IMSA 6 hour races in 1981 & 1982. There'll also be a Q&A with Bill Adam and Eppie Wietzes. Tickets are also available at the door for $15.
  2. I just love that video! I decided to really take it easy on my Mom. On the other hand all others get the full throttle experience
  3. I found that Rota makes an RB wheel that is 15X7 with the right bolt pattern 4X95.25 Looks like a tasty option
  4. I'm just curious. On a post 80s caterham solid axle car, are their any weak points in the drivetrain? Are the cortina box, open diff and rear joints sturdy items?
  5. I will almost certainly be at bronte creek for the festival Hope to meet other 7 guys when I'm there
  6. I'm a plastic model, slot car, radio controlled model guy
  7. Going to try the moldable silicine "swimmer type" ear plug approach
  8. Hi guys. I got a recommendation that I should save my original tulip wheels as they are NLA and may be worth something some day. In terms of size and proportion relative to the seven, I think they provide the right balance. I agree they are not the best looking wheel and tire choice on a 13 inch wheel is a beast. Can folks please post pics of their other wheels and tires in profile with their cars. Please also let me know the wheel and tire sizes and where you got them. Here is my car as a baseline reference
  9. Hi guys. I've been trying to use the disposable foam plugs, but I find I'm left with plugged ears for a few days once I remove them. I think I have over sensitive ear canals. Any other suggestions that are less intrusive on the ear canal?
  10. What viscosity did you run?
  11. I think she will need a steady diet. She seems to be burning off a fair bit. Is that fairly normal? I'm guessing a litre every 800 miles
  12. I'm thinking Castrol GTX What do your other ford crossflow guys use?
  13. thanks John for the advice. Just installed the ASM belts. will be out for a short drive with them tomorrow
  14. Perspectives on these tires for street driving?
  15. very tasty peice of kit
  16. I love the aluminium sheet work. Is that stock stalker or your handywork? OMG that supercharger looks insane. It just screams topfuel! Your car must be an absolute warp engine. Congrats!!
  17. lowflyer, great advice. I think I will get her really well tuned up and checked out then do an autocross or two to toss her around enough to understand her limits. Then I will go to a much smaller (slower) track where I can work up some speed without pressing the cars limits or my own. In my 911 at the track I was always driving well within the car's limits and safely inside a solid cabin. I think I need to build confidence in the car and my driving skills given the physical vulnerability inherent in a Seven.
  18. Any Porsche 911 (except the 996 years). Same timeless shape
  19. Having a hard time finding a good 13 inch street performance tire
  20. Change of plans. Before I go to the track, I want to get a full mechanical bill of health.
  21. Here is a link to an eastern european guy who mounts a 10ltr Radial into a Microcar. Can you imagine the chassis twist! http://jalopnik.com/5302246/awesome-defined-the-10+liter-radial+engined-goggomobil
  22. Last night on the way home, I got to thinking about different experiences that are analogeous to driving a seven. Last nights thought was: WW1 Sopwith Camel. I was cruising along at 45mph and the engine was in a rythmic beat. It occured to me that this must be what it must feel like in an old biplane. My other one of course is of Jimmy Clark or Juan Manuel Fangio in a singleseater F1, but that's an obvious one. Anyways, I obviously have an overactive imagination, but this car sparks it BIG TIME. Other thoughts?
  23. I think the gaset I bought is a combination insulator bloc and two sided gasket. Does that make sense?
  24. thanks guys. My first track day in this car will be at Mosport. It is a very high speed flowing track, which does not favour a Caterham. I have been a few times in my Porsche. The track surface is pretty rough in spots. I will be with a bunch of Porsche guys and so expect I will need to watch my mirrors closely. My plan is to take it easy and enjoy the day without pressing too hard. Mosport has a bad reputation for eating cars. I've seen some nasty accidents, so "easy-does-it" will be the approach.
