  1. I wish I was going 75! I thought I heard the top gear of a 4 speed and a 5 speed T9 were pretty much the same. Maybe I need a different rear axle ratio
  2. Everyone has a different set of variables from tire size to rear axle and gear box. I think I'm geared very low with my 185/60/13 tires and 4 speed box At 60mph, what are your RPMs? Mine is about 3,800
  3. Thanks for the inspiration. I tuned up my car to a much leaner setting using the best idle approach and balanced with my synchro tool. Now it revs cleanly and has lost the "hammering" vibration at cruise speed. Whats interesting is that the carbs were balanced when I started the tune, however the hammering intake and vibration was still there at hier revs Just because the carbs are both pulling the same amount of air doesn't mean the mixture is right. I had previously used the Gunson spark plug view method, but the best lean idle approach has better results.
  4. Wow, that is very cool!
  5. What do you guys think of this simple solution inserted into the pipe? Too restrictive? http://www.ebay.ca/itm/4-5-EXHAUST-BAFFLE-2-INCH-PIPES-MOTORCYCLES-/120964555027?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c2a0ca113
  6. thanks - I ordered a kit which includes a fused set of leads
  7. you should look at midlandwheels in the UK for minilites and tires.
  8. I want to put in a 12v power socket to power a GPS. Is there a very simple approach in a Super Seven that will keep me from screwing up my wiring loom?
  9. Before I go on a 700 mile tour in my 4 speed xflow, what should I get done? What am I missing?: -Oil change -Coolant change -Check gear and axle oil level -Check wheel bearing play -Wheel nut torque settings -Check for poorly wrapped electrical connections What should I bring in my little tool box out of the ordinary?
  10. I agree Kitcat. He seems to have a price point that he is locked in on. I once heard the most important price is what you pay for a car, not what you sell it for.
  11. I forgot to mention the reaction of women. If I was single, I'd be giving "rides" to a lot of ladies.
  12. Who gives the most thumbs up? I've noticed that the folks who really go nuts over my Caterham are bikers and hot rodders both the rat rod and the GTR crowd. A couple of months ago a guy with tatoos up his neck and a beard (looking right out of a Jesse James reality show) and his girl friend just went nuts when they came up on me on the freeway. I put it down to that So Cal speed shop mind set of "strip it down" and make it faster and the modern younger kids fascination with go fast mods. I find it interesting how an english racing car design from 1957 can connect so well with these folks. I wonder what they would think of an Allard J2 with a monster cadillac V8?
  13. Sounds like a tasty option if they have the packaging figured out. Supercharger whine plus massive torque!

    Hot Feet

My S3 chassis does not have a pedal box cover. It just has a piece of aluminized heat shield foam that covers the hole where the pedals poke up thru the chassis. I'm thinking of running hose from the front nose cone behind the mesh screen using these Hose and intake ducts: https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productselection.asp?Product=3620 https://www.pegasusautoracing.com/productselection.asp?Product=3626 I just then have to see if there is a way to SAFELY run the output end of the hose down into the footwell. I'm envisioning a mishmash of plumbing type PVC elbows that would point the stream of cool air down thru a hole I cut in the heat shield foam onto my feet. Right now I have a large block style heater that even with the heater control switched off, still creates too much ambient footwell heat. Of course the down side is that my interior would look like a mad science experiment, but my feet would be happy. I would just have to keep the hood on!
  15. I have a friend with a place on Canandaigua lake. I'm starting to get excited about the road trip!
  16. Sounds like a great adventure all around. Its great to see that you have embraced the change and are getting ecited about this new chapter. I'm sure there are aspects of leaving your home and country that tug hard at your heart and head. Life is short and you only have one to live. If you ask me, pulling up to the sea shore with a long board on my seven sounds like the worlds most perfect combination. I've only surfed once. The feeling of getting up on a wave is so elemental. Pure joy.
  17. I didn't make it last year, but hope to go this year. Its a 250 mile one way trip from Ontario Canada, but I think it will be worth it! If someone wants to convoy in their Seven as well, let me know.

    New 7

Does the wood wheel create problems getting in? Do you like it?
  19. Heaven!
  20. I had a good experience importing tires to mississauga from midlandwheels in the UK. Fast delivery and a better price than I could find locally even with duty
  21. I had recently rejetted by DCOE 40 webers. I had ignored that old adage that says change one thing at a time. I swapped out both idle (45 F9) and main jets (125). I had finally resolved the poor idle to main jet transition, but I kept thinking I had lost some umph. I went back to the original main jets (130- but they look like they have been drilled out) and now she is back to the old hooligan she was on throttle, but with the new and improved slow speed running. I think she is a bit to rich but the power is back. Swapping main and idle jets is easy and kinda fun, so if you want to see if there is more power to be had, give it a try.
  22. Thanks. As you suggest, I will look at my ride height first. The lower A arm appear to not be parallel to the ground. The shock body has platform adjustment rings at the bottom of the shock body. Is this the correct process? -Jack up the front to take weight off the wheel -Crank up the top of the two collars to further compress the spring -Crank up the bottom of the two collars to lock the new ride height
  23. This car looks F-A-S-T found on flikr
