  1. Honestly looking at all the options I am removing the hoops and boxing the original top.I plan to carry the tonneau and on ebay they have some full waterproof covers for the whole car with a security cable if I do an overnite stay, not the best but at least some level of weather and security.I think the partial covers, either like Al or the other guys( split or half screens) make much more sense.I live in OR, (makes England look like Jamaica)and I need a fast way to stay reasonably dry quickly, if I have to spend all that time putting it up its of no use, I am already soggy, nothing worse than a drive in wet undies(os so I hear, lol).Plus as I said its wat too cramped with all the gear on, plus if you have to carry all the crap on a run what else can you carry.Which brings me to another point.....
  2. That to me is a $30 K car
  3. I am not too sure about the paint job??? That little engine looks lost in there hey? The only thing I have heard is that the bike engined cars require a lot more maintenance as the engine is working really hard and bike engines normally will not take the miles a reg car engine would, must say tho I bet it screams.

  10. Hi Al. never use the doors, but I want to keep the perspex wind deflectors, can you explain? Thanks David
  11. Well all I can say is that either you are David Blane's brother or you have a totally diff design, mine is on a 1984 S Sprint and is factory original. It really is useless for me as I am not a deformed leprachaun ( who must have been the test dummy for the design). By the way what is ... RTFM? is that the yoga class I need to go to so I can wriggle in like a snake, lol.
  12. I love the "Barge M3 " quote, too funny/
  13. Maybe using original holes?motor bike mirrors, and the chance of still keeping the aero screens flippable? I know this has been brought up a few times before but just wondered of and cheap and clean solutions, I do not like the big panoramic strip across the top of the window, and Sevens and Elans offers a kit for $300, bit too much for me I am afraid. Can anyone recco a partic mirror and how to fit it, I really hate to drive wiithout side views.BTW, whats the feelings on flat glass versus convex (bigger than they appear I know)in the UK it was always flat glass. I was also thinkink that maybe a small alum adaptor plate could be made simply that lines up with the original holes so no new drilling is required? Thanks for any input. Over and out. David
  14. Thanks Guys, Yes I would like some more info on other options, the Caterham gear is a waste of time.
  15. What is this "half top" deal, any pics / links, Cheers David
  16. So, thought I would take it out of the box and put it on, looks like its not been on 4 a few years. What a nitemare,I think I have done serious and permanent injury to my back, neck and fingers! It is the most ludicrous piece of crap I have ever seen, then how the hell do I get in,lol. I think I will just carry the toneau and a big brolly. Seriously tho, does anyone ever drive with the full wet gear up, I would rather be buried alive.:7rain:
  17. Thanks Bob, but your set up is totally diff to mine.
  18. Damn, I feel like I am in a tumble dryer at 90 mph in my car, lol.
  19. Hi I have a 1985 Cat 7, I have driven a Westy and a Dutton, but jusy wondered about the pros and cons of all the 7,s out there, anybody experience owning more than one brand? the reason I ask is that I am looking to buy another,7'I love the fit and finish of the Superformance, and the Birkin don't look too shabby either.Anyways be good to hear about the pros and cons of the whole range here, not just from a performance point of view(they are all quick) but parts back up, factory support, helplines etc???) Thanks DB
  20. Evidently its a common prob, they snap in the crimp next to the bajo coupling. Anyways I have a new cable. Thanks to Chris at Sevens and Elans in MA (Cat USA r on backorder) 1. in the pedal box lever there are 2 holes, whats the deal there? 2.where the outer sheath with the all thread and 2 lock nuts go to the slave, well is that one nut of either side if the lug that sticks out of the bell housing? 3.Can I do this on my own? 4. any tips here??? Thanks David
  21. that would be a big help, Tom. Thanks to both of you, do you can email the pics if its easier Tom. Regards David
  22. Any one??http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/739426994_Clutch 001.jpg
  23. I like cheap but let's assume this is the original cable from 1984, and a new cable complete is $70.00, I have to go new. Believe me driving home on a Friday night without a clutch is not fun.
  24. Good point Jim, as someone else on here said, its all too easy to get a swirl mark with a regular terry rag, nothing softer than a baby bum rag hey.
