Ok, so from Ben at Caterham USA today. Caterham USA is re-setting it,s dealer net work(some go, some new, some old stay)web sites for RMMS and CatUSAQ will be updated soon to show this,it is however taking them longer than expected to do these changes, but they intend to be around for some time to come. Rocky Sports is not dealing in Caterham anymore,(stiill dealing in sports cars and Formula Ford stuff tho) All calls for cars or parts should go to Caterham USA tel 303 765 0247. Cat USAsite: http://www.uscaterham.com/ It is ok to use the parts price list at RMMS in the meantime. Old Rocky web site with parts list: http://www.rmsci.com/ He also stated that as their parts prices were pegged at last up date at $1.75 to the pound and it went as high as $2.00 this summer which hurt them, they intend to stay at current prices across the board while rates hover around the $1.50 level. Hope this helps David

Can anyone tell me or (take a peek at their car) and tell me what the fastener is for the top inner mounting hole on both sides. I see regular bolts (about a 1/4 to 5/16 or so) , washers and nylock nuts on the inside for every hole but the top one which seems not to have clearance emough due to the sping coils to get a nut and washer on; were these self tapper screws without nuts on the back originally? The reason I ask is that I just have empty holes on both sides and notice a bit of creak and movement between wing and body due to no fasteners whatsover. Thank you David

Just wonderful, lol. It is very odd, the RMSCI site shows the full Caterham range of cars and a full list of parts with prices.(however the last inputs on the site appear to be a year or so old) : http://www.rmsci.com/ However at the Caterham USA site it shows no dealers / retailers nation wide and no parts / prices, any one know what is going on? http://www.uscaterham.com/ -
in the past 6 months has anyone heard of price drops as of yet or in the pipe line at Caterham USA on cars / parts ? Hope they get someone to answer their phone this year too.

Please... Do not castrate me or others that do not follow your or your club friends ideals ..(and at the risk of being "suspended") I have to say the following : 1)This was just a group of fave pic of members, not a calender to be put out for sale or profit and if there was an issue with copyright point it out before ppl post.Don't threaten with suspension after the fact. Ever think why this car was chosen for the Prisoner ? I am sorry but I think this is too much "Police" . Mr Slingshot I do not know if you own or run this site ,(its great by the way, members do that you know), but some temperance and liberalism please. It is the members and drivers of these cars that make this groupshine and argument or disagrement is healthy. Why would you threaten free speach in a group of people that are free spirits and love 7,s. By the way, ever notice how angry some members got on here since Obama got in , little cryptic messages etc? ( I am not political at all on here but look at many of the messages, partic from mo fo and his posse, woops that includes you right. Nobody was rude or agressive or nasty or used cuss words or slandered,;damn for the internet it was a walk in the woods in springtime, it was just open discussion , please do not stop that with threats that their points of view may cause expulsion. By the way, with regard to the "legality of pics and copyright" what is the deal if someone takes a pic of my car.. it happens all the time, what if any one sees a car or building or whatever they are looking at through the lens... they take a picture.. think about it : everything we see belongs to somebody, but most of us share ; this argument was started by a pro photographer... I understand him looking out for himself, I really do, but come on. By the way how can a member set their own password ,is that possible at all or is it only the one that is issued, does that mean that admin can access all of a member's account at will? ? Thanks. Hope this post will not be censored too.

Was not an attack at all, just thought he was over the top, again we all have opinions and are individuals ( hence the 7) so I do not want to drag this out. Happy New Year . But I am right.

My son was visiting from Tampa and wanted to drive the car so even tho cold when it was clear of snow /ice or rain we went out. We met 2 Brass Monkeys looking for a welder. Anyways , a month ago I bought 2 cold weather hoodies off HSN ( yeah I know) but they actually do work. 4 stars out of 5, the only reason not 5 is that they are snug, having said that they will not blow off.Plus it makes my fat little face look like it was trapped in elevator doors. http://shoes-handbags.hsn.com/hot-headz-6-in-1-hood_p-4286659_xp.aspx?web_id=4286664&ocm=sekw oh , I finally got the heater working, one tip, do not put your finger even close to the outlet vent to check if its blowing if you want to keep said finger.http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/114921967_To the South Pole we go.JPG

Ever walk int a Nappa store and they ask what make and model and well.......................15 minutes later they look at you like you are from the planet Xerkob. Well, the Ford Kent engine was brought into this country in ... wait for it................ yup the 1971 Pinto, it was the base 1.6 engine, but it does give you access to many parts like stats, rad cap, gaskets, some hoses, filters etc if you are in a bind.

Ian, the car was set up for RHD with a short cable, say 10 inches When they produced LHD cars the answer from Caterham was to loop a 5 foot plus cable like a big horseshoe, it stretches, it kinks, and eventually it snaps, always in the same place. Some ppl get lucky and run for thousands, others break within a couple of thousans miles.,to the point where they carry spare cables.See the pic I added at the top of the page.My cable had stretched almost 3 inches in 2000 miles.
-
Ian, Yeah it is a problem, like yourself I am looking to go the simpleat route posssible to get clearance, I was trying to avoid changing harness plug ins, wiring etc, and trying to get away from adding other mounting brackets. It really was a dumb design, the heat shield is like compressed cardboard with some asbestos in it and I dont see how it could work that well as the pipe sits so close it looks like it has been cracked for years.I think the lower mount bracket would work if there was such a thing available? Other than that and as it looks like I have the original unit, I have a friend that said he would fabricate the brackets, so maybe I should just get the Nipondesi with the Vee pulley for the Samurai.
-
Thanks guys, I was hoping that I could just drop in a smaller unit, mine is the original vee belt, using the original brackets and mounting points that would be great, I think Budlites idea is excellent but if I could just get even half an inch of clearance in the original position I would be happy.Any one hear if any of these will just bolt in using the original brackets and bolts ? Cheeers DB

Hi, I should have said this is on a 1985 1.7 Cat Super sprint LHD, ford cross flow, live axle with the 5 foot goofy cable.
-
Kisses the alterator, the alt has a heat shield on it that looks stock but is now cracked, , as does the alt, I do not want to change the tubes, anyone know of a smaller {less diameter) alternator that will work. This is on a Cat 7 , 1985 1700cc Kent cross flowS Sprint with a "Raceline "performance mod engine with just a 2000 miles on it, the exhaust and performance are very good, I just need to clear the alt as it is hard on it; anyone else experience this or is it just because of the fancy pipework?? Thanks Davidhttp://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/upload/1535869871_Kisses.jpg

Still looking for a cheap side view mirror fix

yeah, I would like to see the friction set up too -
Quirky cars for quirky ppl for sure, but I lived In Birmingham England till I was 30, my Dad, not a wealthy man, always loved cars and spent way too much on them, plus, everyone in the area was involved in the car indusrty, this was when we still had one in the UK. My Dad had a brand new Lotus Cortina,(this is another tale to tell one day about when he bought it home brand new without telling my Mum, more screams than the Beatles when she saw what he had paid, or rather signed up to pay monthly, lol). Anyways, onto the 7, I was 21 and had a friend that bought the bare bones kit from Caterham and then built his car, well finally I got to drive the car and it made everything else I had driven feel like a rice pudding.I took some 30 years (Mid life crisis yells my ex) to buy one, but damn, with the rates you get on any other kind of investement why not have some fun. "Grey hair blowing in the wind, lol"

according to my books here, the stock factory CBR 1100 was rated at 170 bhp by Caterham.

I have the original 1984 GoodYear Grand Prix, its as hard as a rock and still has the dimples on it, of course it sits on its little frame(Yeah I know its past its expiration date), I have the original jacking kit too, (they must have spent all of $3.00 on that kit) but I am planning on a long run (600 miles) and was just gonna use the spare cradle as a luggage rack and carry a can of fix a flat, a bible, and a AAA card. Seriously, apart from the gain in weight saving too, how many of us really need a spare, like Motor Bikes do not carry one and this is really a 4 wheeled bike?
