Driver Safety Gear for Time Trials and USA7s@NJMP

These are Schroth belts, just ordered through Caterham with the kit. They had 2 Schroth options I could order as substitutions (for a cost) for the Caterham 4-point. One is 2” and one is 3”. I went with the 3”. I also found another post from someone saying they ordered Schroth from Caterham and they were dated. -

Good call! I guess I just assumed all of the Schroth ones were. I emailed Caterham and they confirmed 5 year dates. 👍 -

I ended up ordering the 3” Schroth 6-point Caterham offers with my kit instead of the Caterham 4-point. No idea if this was a good choice or not. I looked at the profi asm and thought those would be the best choice for similar reasons others have mentioned, but figured I’d try these first. I’ve never had a car with harnesses and wasn’t sure if there would be fit issues ordering separately. I thought ordering from Caterham with the kit would make it more likely everything works together out of the box. Not sure that’s really correct. But that’s what I did. I think they are less expensive to order this way too because they are substituting the stock 4-point. https://caterhamparts.co.uk/seatbelts-harnesses/7023-schroth-6-point-lh-2018-063-sr.html I also have a hybrid s from a previous 3-point car I plan to reuse. At least until I try it and decide I want to change. -

Im halfway through reading your 520 build thread. The diff is where you drew the line on modifications? 😲 🤣 I have a history of putting a decent number of miles on my cars relatively quickly and 10-12k does not sound like a lot of time to me. I’d rather fix a known issue up front if possible. -

Would it make sense to just do this upfront on a new build then? What’s the expected life on the changed components? -

2025 Annual HPDE - June 13/14, 2025 - Photos Thread

This does look like fun. Maybe if I get my car built and sorted in time, I can make it for 2027. -
I’ll pick one to share. When I was going to college, I would drive by a Lotus dealership (Mid Rivers Lotus). It was 2005 and the Elise was new in the US. And they had a ton of them on the lot, in so many bright colors. And twice a day, every day, I got to stare at them on my commute. So, that summer, when I graduated and got a job, I went to the dealer. I was 21 at the time; didn’t expect them to take me seriously. But they did. They were happy to tell me all about the car and let me go for a test drive. I fell in love and bought one. It was my first sports car. I don’t have it anymore, and nothing I’ve had since has been able to properly replace it. But I have high hopes for my upcoming (and first) Seven. Sorry the pic isn’t better. Ubiquitous decent camera phones weren’t a thing in 2005. I think this might be a photo of a photo. Those are my cousins in the pic with me (I’m the taller one 🙂)

Thanks. Yeah, I’ll take any contact info you have. I plan on doing as much as possible on my own, but I’m not really a mechanic, so who knows what I’m in for. I really only started doing any of my own work on my own cars about 2 years ago. But my day job is as a service technician on industrial machinery. I specialize in programming/electrical/controls, but if I’m by myself and a wrench needs turned, I have to turn it. So, I’ve picked up a thing or two over 20+ years of that….but far from expert and always learning. -

Josh thought Oct build slot and maybe delivery by the of year. But I think I’m still waiting for confirmation on the time frame. I’m hoping I can then get it built and registered by the end of spring, but I guess we’ll see. Maybe by mid-summer I have a half-built car I’ve given up on. 🙃 -

Hello. New member from St Louis, MO. I just ordered a 420R SV from Josh at RMC. I drove out to meet Josh and test fit cars and seats yesterday. It was the first time I had seen one of these cars in person.
