  1. The traditional (meaning they have been around long enough to know the older cars) are Dave Bean Engineering (CA), JAE (CA), RD Enterprises (PA), Sports Car World (TX). They all know each other. Some have some parts but not others...
  2. +1. Both my wife and I switched to the yellow laces. It would be nice if there was an easy way to add and remove a white circle and number to our cars. Funny how magnets don't work well with fiberglass or aluminum.
  3. We came close to buying a 1989. Still the best (last) year of aircooled cars.
  4. My wife and I picked up a couple pairs of these shoes for under $50 at shoebuy. There is a $20 discount code floating around somewhere for them. One of the vendors had them at LOG 34 which made it nice for people to try them on.
  5. I very happy to hear that your wife is interested in driving. It should be a great experinece for the both of you.
  6. What LOG, year? Look at all the series 4 cars!
  7. This question needs to go to lotus@se7ens.net That group is dedicated to preserving Lotus Sevens.
  8. I wish I could tour like guys were doing. Your cars looked huge and substantial compared to our car. I struggle over what to do with ours. I love driving it but I also want to make it a concourse car. I probably will compromise and use it for a little of both. I did have an overheating problem when I got caught in traffic. The temperature gauge wound past 230 and I lost about half a gallon of coolant. John from the Barber museum helped me out by magically appearing with a roll of absorbent material to help clean up the parking lot.
  9. It would have been great to see a few other Se7ens at the LOG 34 drag strip. The lowest ET I saw was a low 13, the highest trap speed 104 mph. I would think that a high power Se7en like a Super Stalker could have bettered that. There is no way I am taking our Se7en to LOG 35. I saw what the high mountain air did to the performance of a Mk VI at LOG 27 in Snowmass CO. If we buy an Evora over the winter we will take that. Then Mighty Mike and I can bask in luxury while everyone else on the list bakes in the high hot sun. Wear sunscreen at high altitude otherwise you will cook!
  10. The mighty Seven produced a best quarter mile time of 25.182 seconds at 49.34 mph. I had trouble with the 2-3 shift. It doesn't like to be rushed. At the auto-X I missed the same gate on each run. The course was a good one. Missing the gate was all my fault. I drove the Bristol bullring flat out for a few laps, 75 mph indicated. The pace car almost lapped me so I dropped down off the racing surface to let it go by then came back up for a few more flat out laps. The car was sliding around a bit. It was certainly working much harder and closer to the limit than the modern cars. I heard that the mountain driving loops were great fun. A police escorted each group out of town then let them go play while they went back to the staging area to pickup the next group. There seemed to be many more couples at LOG than previous years. Both my wife and I took test drives in an IPS equipped Evora. Nice! Notable in attendance were POP 444 a Mk VI, a Mk XII from the Barber museum, a few truly special edition Esprits and lots of Evoras. There was an I-racing setup where you could take 25 minutes to do your best lap. Top times had a runoff. Three vendors had stuff for sale. There were lots of books, trinkets, logo cloths and lots of autographed items.
  11. On the way to LOG we spotted 4 Stalkers a Caterham and a sorry-I-forgot-the name at the Wheels Through Time Museum. I looked like they were having a blast.
  12. Our car took best in show (popular vote). Thanks for all the support. Details of my auto-X, 1/4 mile drag and Bristol circle track experience later.
  13. When my wife & I were returning from the gathering spot for the mountain drives there was a Pantera and a SuperPerformance 7 by the side of the highway. My wife's comment was that the Pantera must have had a problem. I guess she has more faith in 7's than Panteras.
  14. Caterham, Super Performance & Westifield were in attendance at LOG 34.
  15. When I was in Spain (2008 walking the Camino de Santiago) there were too many Germans. One of the phrases I learned was No Aleaman (I'm not German). I also learned that just about every province in the north of the country wants to break away and form their own country. Before I went I only knew about the Basques.
  16. I am looking forward to trying our Seven on the drag strip at LOG 34. Based on what i have read it should run somewhere in the 20 - 28 second range. Less than 1250 pounds with driver and fuel running a board out 948cc BMC-A engine.
  17. I enjoy factory tours. I've been at a spectrum of car manufacturer tours: Ford F150 in Norfolk (closed), Lotus and Panos. Ford had full automation and robotics. I took about 20 seconds to put in a windshield. Lotus had an early style Henry Ford push the car along from station to station assembly line. Two blokes were installing an Elise windshield looking and filing 1+ hours per windshield. Panos was like a huge corner garage where guys worked on cars. I expect that Caterham is more like Lotus than Panos.
  18. It seemed that the writers were overwhelmed with all the models, vendors...
  19. Maybe this will muddy the water however... If you can find what you want except for color it may be reasonable to have a local wheel shop change that for you.
  20. I just finished up polishing the Seven in preparation for LOG again. I want to make it plain to everyone. Paint is for wimps!
  21. I too have been looking for AC gauges. I managed to pick up a few but not all. I did get the correct speedometer and a period tachometer. The windgards are not that hard to get. There are now reproductions available http://www.simplesevens.com/forsale/Painter/PainterParts.htm Good luck
  22. The tunnel cover is pretty trick. The shifter connection rods look a bit agricultural. You could probably save a half a pound with some creative drill work
  23. LOG 34 happens over the same weekend and will be close. Based out of Asheville.
