Setting up in the pits on Saturday morning - some old guy here... Steve's shiny Mallock Roman's Ultralite. He was awarded the furry poo brown steering wheel cover last year for polishing on the Friday night. He cracked me up by wearing it in the pits this year.
-
Still in the garage
-
Keeping the photos in sequence Friday night I slept with 9 attractive cars....actually 11 if you count two of my other two cars present
-
Try this And thank you Glen!!!!
-
And for Steve when he sees this - thank you! Your comments to me on the problems your Mallock was having under braking proved very helpful on Monday as I was suffering the exact same issue on the BMW but far more extreme. We raised the front ride height and sure enough made progress of fixing its waywardness under braking.

So lets weigh this up....a fun July 4th weekend sevens event with lots of laughter, social, driving, etc or a t-shirt? :flag:

To make it easier to find photos and video I started a new thread. This is the only video I took the whole weekend. Session 1 on Sunday - start to finish with no editing. I was camera car for Glen so was aiming to mingle around. Its in hi res and has decent audio. Index 0.00 Follow Dan in his Westfield out of the pits 6:15 Passing George in his Birkin 6:30 The infamous carbon rear wing incident of Tom and new skid marks for Dan 8:18 Passing Jay in his Caterham Roadsport 8:25 Dave in his Superformance S1 8:53 Slow down to let Kitcat pass on the happy assumption something exciting might happen 9:50 Passing Dermott in his new (Skip's old) Caterham Miata 11:15 Passing Steve in his shiny Mallock 14:28 Pass Paul in his Birkin 14:29 I go all silly 14:30 I discover someone has moved the wing to a new and exciting position I have Mike W's photos from the weekend. I will be uploading those today and posting here. I have all of them in hi-res to distribute - just have to work out how to do it. There are some absolutely stunning photos in there - some of his best work ever. Edited to fix the video for the blank spot and add an index

First there and last to leave. Just walked in the front door. Kitcat is still heading west through PA. Steve is probably 6 hours ahead of him also heading west. They still have a long ways ahead of them. Mario was heading north to Watkins Glen. Tom C was heading somewhere else - not sure. Matt will be somewhere on the road still heading west. I got given a flash drive by Mike at the track today. I am yet to open it but will look at it tomorrow and post some photos. Will also see what I have in my camera. I have a video of session 1 on Sunday which is uploading to Youtube now. I will publish it here tomorrow.

Sunday was an interesting day: - Sadly Fred could not find the piston he lost on track yesterday and gave up trying to run his car on 3 cylinders so as not to damage the engine. - Roman leveraged the vast expertise of his fellow driving friends to solve a many year coolant leak issue from the cap - yes they just turned it clockwise tightly. - Graham put his seven away with a sump oil leak. - Jeff needs a new ECU - There was a minor track orgy when Simon hit a cone (yep..figures eh?), it moved onto the circuit online just over the blind crest on turn 5....., Tom (Caterham one) appears and hits it dead center...hits arm then takes off the drivers side rear wing. Dan and I closely following witness what look like an explosion of carbon wing, rubber gasket, cone, etc into the air. Dan goes left and creates many exciting new skid marks, I go right and dodge it. And the debris stayed there the rest of the session - which was fine if you have the right lines around that corner... The bruise on Tom's shoulder was coming up nicely last night. - Dave had a oops at turn 1 - in the braking zone coming into turn 1, I see the dust cloud go up across the blind hill and instantly think Shane/Xcarguy, hit the brakes and trickle over the crest. Dave was looking dusty off to the left! - Matt found rotating at turn 7 to be his style - a simple corner that takes out the best of us - Jay was graduated by the Drivers Club Chief Instructor from green to sevens group to join us on Sunday - yay! It was remarked at dinner last night that the frequency of incidents of years past are not being repeated in more recent years. Its true we are all getting better! Dinner was the usual riotous affair at the Clubhouse. Pre-drinks with swimming occurred for those taking off the last session. So it was all very merry. Sorry photo lurkers but I need to sign up for a new photo hosting site since Photofucket has broken. Then my camera can be uploaded and shared. There will be a lot of high quality photos of cars on track in due course as Amos and Mike were there doing duties. We have to sort out a share solution for those too. Group photo on start finish line and at Don's party on Saturday night will be shared around. I have emails of those who attended. I am exhausted but I am going out on a test day today to try and get the unruly BMW to handle. There will be a side drive of the Mustang. The CSR will probably sit in the pits basking in the sun. Then the drive home tonight and sleep in tomorrow. Thank you to all for coming. It was fun, it was social, it was great to see everyone again and get some quality track time in with a bunch of great drivers. We will do this again but maybe not July 4th weekend in 2018. I want to get a weekend at Thunderbolt circuit to give some variety. This will mean moving dates to April/May or September. Once I get the 2018 Drivers Club Calendar in December I will do a save the date post. Glen - it was great to see you again yesterday. Sorry I missed saying good bye at the end. Too many things were distracting me!

I am the lucky guy to have slept with 9 lovely ladies last night. Luckily (for me) they were downstairs with the keys confiscated by their owners who were worried about midnight test drives. I am still in disbelief but we packed 9 sevens into my garage last night with my Mustang and Holden up on their lifts and Wemtd was confident we could have got another 3 sevens in if we had them. We will go for a record next year! Great night at dinner last night! Looking forward to a top weekend finishing Monday afternoon here for me.

Like many of you on this site and other forums, I used Photobucket to host my photos and then link the image across here for display purposes - my CSR build thread, NJMP Sevens event, etc. However, starting this week, Photobucket modified its terms of service such that 3rd party linking of photos is not permitted under the first three tiers of membership/plans. Only the Plus Plan 500 $400 per year subscription gets that feature. The forums have come alive with the realization that build threads, blogs and many other DIY guides on forums like ours and others will or have been broken. Some of my threads on this forum have already broken. Given I seem to post more photos than most on here, I came across it earlier this week and have been trying to work out a solution. However, short of moving to another service the answer is I don't have an answer. Right now I am leaning towards deleting all of my photo bucket photos and starting afresh. This destructive solution is because Photobucket monetizes your photos (i.e. sells them). I don't see why I should have them host something that I cannot use. In the past they got monetization rights from me and I got a free storage/hosting solution - thats a fair trade concept. And at $400 per year for something I do not make any money off just does not make sense - I could spend that on more important things. There are other free services - Imgur and Flickr - which are available. Even Drop Box with its 2gb free is an option. Google Photos is not since they change their mind every few years and reinvent the service which means you have to reinvent your usage at the same time. While memory is cheap I guess there are lots of crappy selfie cell phone photos being upload which they cannot make money off? Any thoughts from others out there?

Skip - can't you dive deep into the menu options to turn it off? On my X5 (yes throttle blip on an automatic - hysterical!) it has the throttle blip option buried layers down in the menu. When I do it that way it does not turn off the other safety gubbins. I was reading about the MT drop and thinking you bought in time. And I agree with you on the straight 6. I have the 3.5L straight 6 in the 75 CSL and it is just creamy smooth - lovely snarl to it.
-
Excellent - its still a stick shift! I was worried you were going to go all soft and delicate on us and get an automatic. I will be deeply disappointed if you got any of those comfort things like air con, heated seats, turn signals, etc. Seriously, nice looking beast. I think this is the true spiritual successor to the E30 M3. I had mineral gray on my last BMW SUV - was good for hiding any dirt.

Hopefully your preparations to join Tom and myself at NJMP this weekend as guests of NJMP Drivers Club are well advanced. If you are interested and at the circuit, then at 3pm Friday June 30 we will have a karting contest. It will cost $60 on the day and consist of a practice session, a qualifying session and then a race. Winner gets bragging rights. The rest are losers. Defending Champion is Dave from Ragtops & Roadsters. But he is unable to make it so someone else will be a winner this year! Safety equipment of overalls, neck ring, helmet and enclosed shoes can be provided by NJMP or you can bring your own. Due to another group following us at 4pm, we cannot run late and will need to start sharp at 3pm. Which means meeting at the karting complex at 2.45pm to get signed in/suited up ready to drive karts. Some karts are quicker than others so early arrivals win out. Let me know if you are interested and I will update numbers

Sadly Suave is no longer suave. Shane was never suave so no change there. But, shockingly, they have turned to the dark side of the force and bought a Cobra replica to get their automotive jollies. I know this will be an emotional moment for you as Shane has forgotten the simple joy of going around a corner quick, instead preferring to blip throttle in a straight line. Already you have noticed Shane is no longer on this forum. We should say a prayer for their return to the fold.....at least Suave's return at any rate. Sadly I dont think we will ever see them back at NJMP... ....they banned tractors you know.
-
There is no late fee for guests as far as I know. Worst case you can register guests on the spot on the day but thats not nice for the catering folks. Don's Saturday night event must be registered in advance - he needs to know numbers for catering/seating/drinks.
