Hey Busa Good to see you are still out there! Lovely looking Atom - mind you all of your cars have looked fantastic being the meticulous owner that you are. Hope you health is doing ok. Cheers mike
-
It looks so good that I am more concerned that I accidentally confuse this for my Caterham and drive off in it! :jester: Seriously, I for one will be very interested to put this side by side with my Caterham and we do a detailed comparison between the two. I was hugely impressed with the IRS Birkin I once drove and i suspect this new XS (XXL?) will be even better.
-
Thats sad to hear. Sounds like you were having good fun.

Stop it Steve - you will jinx us. :seeya:

Hi Dermot - Just sent you the information package to your verizon.net email address. Sign up link is in there

For those who are planning to visit with their sevens but were not driving on track, a group car photo is being scheduled for Saturday morning around the 8.30-9.00am area. All sevens and their drivers/passengers are invited to join the photo. You should make sure you are present for the drivers briefing (8am) as that is when the instructions for the photo will be provided.

A lot depends on styling and catching people's attention to get them to think they want it. The Exocet needs the paper bag treatment its so ugly. Maybe the analogy of the business potential is something like Thunder Roadsters. They got reasonable volume through a one make race series and making it easy for the owners. Make it so you can also run the cars on road then you potentially have extended the market reach. Problem with road registrations is that some states will be closed off - TX with its new regs for example. Then you have to consider some states with tough emissions restrictions - CA, MA, NJ, etc. Volume depends on price - so what target price is Scott looking at? At $5k for a kit he gets mega sales. At $30k for a kit it is small sales. Target price is based on what it takes him to make it and in sufficient numbers. At the cheap end of the market, a used Locost is low teens and a cross flow Westfield is high teens and a mediocre spec Birkin is high teens to mid 20s. Used Storkers (6cyl) bring anywhere from low 20s to high 20s. Can he bring in a kit to compete with this price tiering in the market? Mid range pricing so someone can be up and running for all in $15-25k - then maybe 10-15 a year? More volume if you get a race series going and could sell out 10-20 cars for that alone.
-
Al - I just sent you the information package by email so you have all the arrangements.
-
Tom - I have a spare set for you that I can lend. I will dig them out this weekend.
-
Can I suggest you also change the heading? The price reduction is only showing in the text and not the heading which means lots of people will never see it since they scan the headline only.
-
I so agree with this statement. I have met some wonderful people through this forum and my sevens over the years. May it long continue!
-
Hi Matt - I got your email and responded. If you have any questions let us know. I think you will have a good discussion with Roman at the event since he has the engine package you will be using in your Westfield. We look forward to meeting you in person at the July 4 weekend event! :flag: Cheers mike

Congratulations on your new car! Enjoying driving her hard! :driving:

MG1500 - you should have access already to the USA7s album but it is a challenge to find - try these links: http://www.usa7s.net/vb/album.php?albumid=80 and http://www.usa7s.net/vb/album.php?albumid=82 Sorry to hear that you are selling Simon because of the kids. The car looked great when I saw her that year in Carlisle and she still looks great in the photos. Good luck with the sale! If you have a day free on the July 4th long weekend bring it down to NJMP and put a for sale sign on the windscreen at the sevens event! Plenty of people browsing will be there.

I am really keen to see Tom's new Birkin 7 done out in the dual silver colors that match my car. Looks fabulous in photos and I bet even better in person! If you live local and want to check out the newest Birkin then come along and join the party - great opportunity to spend some time sorting out a new seven shopping list. 1) Mike (Croc) Registered 2) Tom (Yellowss7) Registered 3) Mike (Kitcat) Registered 4) Steve (S1Steve) Registered 5) Sebastien (SK400) (and wife) Registered 6) Stewart (Sabbot) Registered 7) Jim A. No idea about them Skip but how hard could it be to a person with your considerable talents? Following that statement, watch it all go pear shaped....

Trophies have been ordered this morning. The awards for this prestigious event: 1. "Gorgeous Car Pity About the Driver" Award 2. The "I Can Steer" Award 3. Golden Skidmarks Award (yes it will be a golden commode again...) 4. Mechanical Sympathy Award (for those losing parts of their car on track) 5. Greenpeace Economy Run Award (shaped like a gasoline pump) 6. "Hitting The Apex From Time to Time" Award (its a lawn mower racing trophy....) Most likely winners would be Roman, Kitcat or myself based on past form... 7. We have a runner up award in this category too!

I know that feeling - the initial bewilderment as to what has happened, then the "where am I heading" thoughts to lastly, "oh shit this is going to hurt". All of it happening in milliseconds. I think you got somewhat lucky - there could have been a fence or jersey barrier to hit. You could have been luckier though - there could have been a tire barrier. The circuit should not have had the drainage pond unfenced. Sadly it often takes an accident for a circuit to wake up to the myriad of ways that a car can escape the circuit and do damage to yourself. As for seats why not do what I do - standard road seats? Or what about a self moulded foam bead seat in a softer mix to provide some cellular impact protection? So it is 15 weeks since the accident. How are you going to cure the mental damage? I know you know what I mean but for others I refer to the additional fear/caution factor that a major accident embeds in the brain.

1960 Lotus Seven Series 1 for sale in British Columbia on Fleabay. Current bid is US$17300 with 3 days to run. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-Series-1-/191593522494?forcerrptr=true&hash=item2c9bdd253e&item=191593522494 1971 Locost with Range Rover v8 in Portland Oregon is back on Ebay. $19995 starting bid with no bids so far and 5 days to run. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Other-Makes-Lotus-7-replica-open-2-seater-/161725484518?forcerrptr=true&hash=item25a7970de6&item=161725484518 1992 Westfield in Vancouver. This is a new car. Greater than normal dealer over excitement and babble but getting past that it does say it is a UK factory build. So I guess that is how it can claim it is not a replica or a kit car? I am sorry but even an original Lotus 7 was a kit car and everything else replicates those, even a Caterham! Its apparently never seen rain which has to be impossible in BC? It has a "2 litter" engine? I have done that to a few of my engines in the past too! Interesting option for those in Canada looking for a seven. Opening bid at US$11900 with 6 days to run. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-Lotus-Westfield-Super-7-/231584869338?forcerrptr=true&hash=item35eb88abda&item=231584869338&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_2 One of these days I am going to fix searchbot to eliminate Birkin Handbags from the search. Do you know how many of these are always for sale and how MUCH they are? Geez. Thank goodness I am no longer married and can spend my cash on important things like new tires, more axle seals for the Mustang, garage mahals, etc.! The long running sale of the "ex-musuem" replica chassis continues in Huntsville Alabama. Asking $27000 http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/carsforsale/lotus/super_seven/1743849.html 2011 Stalker in AZ is still around being advertised at $28000 http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/carsforsale/lotus/7/1726421.html 1984 Westfield Lotus Eleven at $32000 in Atlanta. in battleship gray and missing its tail "fin" behind the drivers head which I have always thought balances the car's styling. http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/lotus/eleven/1740455.html And of course the BAT auction continues to run with the 1984 Westfield seven. -
