  1. I am pretty sure it is the same car I saw a while back on the north coast of MA. When I looked at it then it looked great from 10 feet but up close the details did not work. Lots of Caterham parts used rather than the correct Lotus repro parts available in the UK. I could buy that nice Caterham in MD for $19k if I wanted that look. Also having owned an S2 (called Elvis!) I much prefer my modern Caterham. An addition to the list. This weekend you can bid or watch Mecum as they have this Stalker for sale: https://www.mecum.com/lot-detail/DA0915-222750/0/1962-Brunton-Lotus-S7-Replica/5-Speed/ On race-cars.com it was asking $39500 for a long time. No estimates presented on the website. I love the blue and white look. I suspect he won't get his asking price at auction either - its too out of the mainstream for what people are looking for. Either way it is the only time I know of a seven going though a mainstream auction house like Mecum (upmarket like Sotheby's and Bonhams do not count). It will be interesting to see what bids result.
  2. Congratulations Architect - I think you got an excellent deal. Glad it surfaced for you. Happy driving! :driving: Now now Panamericano, there is nothing stopping me trying to apply logic even if there is none on Fleabay with most, nearly all, sellers. I never said the result was sensible which should fit in with your world view of Fleabay!
  3. Hi Steve - I think you saw a Fleabay auction strategy. I bet his reserve was around $35k and he started the auction low for bidding at $26k - low enough to get some interest and bid activity going. The BIN was probably just above the reserve. I am guessing but that seems to be the logic to explain the numbers.
  4. Thanks Skip - I was not convinced it was a photo shadow/reflection. Here are some more ads from Hemmings the lovely blue 2003 Superformance S1 advertised on the forum separately is also listed here at $25000 http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/superformance/s1-roadster/1768081.html 2002 Caterham SV asking $34500. 5. Anyone need an SV? 1 day to run on this auction. Interestingly this is a Duratec despite being a 2003 chassis. The photos are not really clear but there maybe an exhaust patch from an earlier Zetec on the sideskin? Nice looking color scheme. Bidding at $26k and reserve not met. My guess he wants well into the $30s area. Anyone from CA know the car? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Other-Makes-Lotus-7-/252084307830?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3ab1654776&item=252084307830 1964 Lotus 7 S2 BIN price of $36000 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-/331651293782?forcerrptr=true&hash=item4d37f52256&item=331651293782 Its unique and it is vaguely sevenesque. 6. Its not all bad. Even without VTEC the car sounds fantastic. Video quality and sound is excellent - so nothing wrong with the analog operator. And I love the circuit - I want to try that one day. Your driving was looking good to me - overtaking all manner of 4 wheeled chicanes. Interestingly your wheel shuffling at points marks you as having a lot of track experience early on with production-based cars and their slooooow steering before moving to the seven. A couple of questions though: Are you allowed to wear shorts on track days? I have not seen that since I lived in Australia and New Zealand. What camera/mic did you use? Is your VTEC problem mechanical or electrical? I assumed it was engaged mechanically at a certain rev point but then this is not the first time I have been clueless and never had a deeper look to edumacate meself.
  7. Hi David - Good to see you are still around. You may not recall but you did meet Scott L and Michael D at the Gettysburg LOG.
  8. Easy - you do that all sessions :troll:
  9. I have always found Michael a little toey!
  10. BRS? I was initially thinking it was some proprietary Brunton Recovery System. Then I looked at the video and saw it was just a balls-up recovery system after you wear them as earings during certain scary accidents.
  11. Well that sucks - my computer crashed half way through posting the updated sales list. So here is a quicker version of it. Been for sale on Race cars.com for a while at $40k which is too high for a v6 sc model no matter how nice I think it looks. You should watch mecum on TV on Sept 16-19 as it will go for auction. http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/lotus/unspecified/1771947.html Stalker in AZ again for $28k http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/lotus/7/1726421.html
  12. Nah....its too slow. A crossflow Caterham could beat it silly in any race.
  13. Bonjour - not just off the feet. There is also the tongue, the chin, the front of my shirt....
  14. What scale did you build your model in? 1/10 or 1/8? Never seen blue S1 before - love the color!
  15. Here is the video link Gee my sump is low in that video! :ack:
  16. Anyone got a link to the 2016 Princeton video? I want to see how good I looked in it! :cooldude:
  17. Hi Chris, Not sure if you have seen it or not but there is a Caterham SV chassis SVT Zetec (2004 from vague memory), BRG, that gets listed from time to time for sale that is located in Hawaii. Asking was $39k. Keep an eye out under the Caterham make in Hemmings. If I see it I post it on the sales thread. As far as I know it has not sold. Cheers Edited to add: Oops - it has been sold: http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/cars-for-sale/caterham/super-7/1742040.html Sorry to get your hopes up.
  18. Its always good to see a new owner happy about his new pride and joy! Safe Drives! :driving:
  19. But you are over 3.5 seconds away from the lap record on that track? That is a yawning chasm of time. A bit like being valedictorian of your summer school. If you lift your knuckles you will go faster - promise! :jester:
  20. Given its CO origins, its easy to register a Caterham in RI as a 1968 Lotus Seven..... :leaving:
  21. 1999 Westfield at a dealer so the hyperbole is laid on super thick in this advertisement.... track killer?! Can a Westfield ever be 900 pounds dry? And this one has clams on it! How streetable is a 160hp crossflow? :ack: Never trust a Westfield driver! :iagree: I find red ones particularly bad but yellow ones must also be the same? Then again, let xcarguy loose in a mobility scooter on track and he would be a terror too! Also don't under estimate 100 mile detour to Home Depot excursion on a Saturday morning - works for me! Even before I start the engine, I would be ashamed to drive any of those cars and would always want the Westfield! Don't you have to see a doctor if you catch an STI? Of course it effing does...its effing gel coat! LOL Did someone say topless? Hello Officer.... http://www.hemmings.com/classifieds/dealer/lotus/super-seven/1763637.html Asking $36995 :svengo:in St Louis. All jokes aside - it is an exceptionally well detailed build. There are places where I struggled to recognize it as a Westfield and had to look again to make sure. It looks like it has some Caterham parts mounted on it? Are they called "upgrades"? ;-p I can sort of see why the asking is so high as it is a very nice build with expensive bits on it but.....as we all know....you don't always get your money back from expensive car builds...
  22. A few on Fleabay today: 1987 Caterham 7, which looks to be titled as a 1968 Lotus 7, located currently in RI http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Other-/301694618244?forcerrptr=true&hash=item463e668a84&item=301694618244 Its still not as shiny as Bball7754's crossflow but I am sure he would volunteer to polish it for you! 23. Ah....we have migrated to a discussion about Republicans and Democrats? :hat:
  24. The grinding noise is rotational related from listening to the video and sounds like a brake pad is rubbing on a disk. My guess - Inconsistent calliper operation so that after it is used initially for braking and then released it does not retract fully and so is rubbing on the disk? Failing springs in the calliper? I last had this when a front wheel bearing was failing and it produced a similar noise effect with no ill effects on braking feel. I am not sure you will see codes even after getting the cable. Codes are an OBDII thing - CAN is the protocol medium over which OBDII data is transferred. The MBE ECU cable (from SBD?) which can hook up to Easimap on your computer will tell you what the engine is doing but not tell you what is wrong with it. So you get real time data which may help but it is not the diagnostic tool that OBDII is. Also not all data is tracked on the MBE ECU unlike a regular car. Another way of seeing what is tracked is by hooking a AIM SOLO DL logger to it (via the J1962 plug) and recording it for playback or look at the logger real time. Here is a sample of the data set on my car from a test drive (map is GPS based data and G force is AIM sensor but the rest is ECU). I had more channels available to read from the ECU but they were reading zero.
  25. Ah well, I guess someone is having a bad week. Why don't you fix up my grammar since it is so important. In the meantime I am going to knock off work and dive into a beer or two. No question marks for me there.
