Yes you can use the 6 point belts with the leather S type seats. After installing shoulder, lap and submarine belts, the seat base is removable. You feed submarine straps up between seat back and seat base. You then sit on the submarine straps and belt yourself in. Yes you can use then without the submarine straps on the street. just hide them under the seat base. This is how I drove my Caterham for 10 years until I switched to custom Tillet seats this year. I would order the 6 points and install them all at once. Be careful with ordering belts from Caterham. Most local NY/NJ tracks require FIA label belts with an expiry date. Caterham has mis-sold a few people recently with belts that do not work with our local tracks. They tell you it is FIA compliant but it does not come with the FIA compliance label. Other states can use non-FIA belts but not in NJ or the NY tracks I have run. I think the Caterham FIA belts are these: HARNESS 6 POINT RACE SCHROTH LH KIT INCL FITTINGS - Caterham Parts But you should confirm suitability before purchasing. There is an equivalent right hand side version on the website. Same set comes from Beachman Racing here. I'm not surprised. Moving a car cross country I was shocked to find enclosed truck transport is double what it used to be. I bet the same has happened with shipping containers. I would rationalize it as cheaper than the wife renovating the kitchen....

The only element that gives me pause on the event as organized is the having to navigate DC traffic in a classic car. How many would overheat in the bumper to bumper traffic. The rest of the rally route looks quite good - done some of those roads a long time back in my Caterham. I should also stop myself and say the $15,000 entry fee does make me choke a little too.

I will be curious to see how they navigated the Federal approvals process. Small low volume waiver, kit car or the full Federal compliance road. Mind you at those prices you would think you could crash test a few dummies to get Federal approvals.

Really? I thought the umbrellas were always used when stationary as sun or rain protection. Then you just fold it up and drive off with open top? If you want something for driving then half hood or full hood is the way to go.

What are you finding about the balance of the car with braking on track? I personally don't really care about the wear so long as the handling and braking performance is maximized.

Nothing wrong with a bit of patina on a car. I feel it makes the car personally. Plus a well used seven is always more reliable than infrequently used show ponies. Spots are from water soaking into the weave. They are very difficult to remove and your best bet everytime is prevention before it happens with 3M clear film when the carbon is new. The best options that seem to come up again and again as the best solution are: 1) WD40 - spray liberally, rub in, leave to soak overnight, rub again. May require multiple tries. Some people say it does not last as long as the other options below so you have to do it again and again. 2) Wood Silk furniture polish - cover liberally, polish and repeat again. Can be found on Amazon Amazon.com: Aristowax Original Wood Silk Aerosol Fine Furniture Polish w Beeswax NO SILICONE (1) : Health & Household 3) Autoglym super resin polish. Same approach as the others above. 4) Mer Bumper and Vinyl gel - almost impossible to find in North America as it is a UK only product. Be careful with the clear coat as these spots will come back again and again. Cover it with clear coat and you are stuck with the spots under the clear coat.
