Seems like mine came in about 150 RWHP under that...but hey, looking on the bright side, I had argueably the fastest 1991 BRG SE around!

Skip...I'm throwing in my hand and taking my losses! :-) been around long enough to see what happens on the dyno when you pit a sbf vs. an LS...grin

Croc, agree on preferring the Fiat over Miata style...in my mind a big negative on this car is the engine, which is the 1.4L Multi-Air turbocharged 4 cylinder...It is 160 hp with even more torque...on paper sounds ok, but I have driven the 500 with this engine and it is not inspiring...does not even sound good...Fiat needs to step it up on their power trains throughout their product line..

Doing the mid November blat today...temperatures in the mid 50's.....now have 753 miles on the engine I am breaking in...not sure if it's wishful thinking, but the engine sounds better every time I take it out...the word symphony kept running through my mind as I took in the sounds of the engine...it simply can not get better than this! Also saw this beautiful 120 jag parked in a garage...pic does not do it justice..it was maroon and silver..

Great looking bugeye...any performance enhancements?

I have owned 6 NA's over the years and thoroughly enjoyed them...never owned NB or NC, but found them pleasing to the eye. I am probably the only person to say this, but after recently seeing two ND's in parking lots I simply do not like the look...in fact I find the styling to be distasteful........I know they are a better car in almost all aspects than the previous iterations, but I was very disappointed with the "in person" styling...When the Z4 came out in 2003, I felt the same way but eventually came to like the style..hopefully the same will happen with the ND. Or, perhaps the Fiat coming out next year, based on the ND chassis will be an improvement...my 2 cents...

Lotusman....I can relate..been retired 15 years and owned three BRG miatas, stock automatic, stock manual, and a sbf monster BRG SE....finally sold them all a couple years back...now down to my stalker, 3.9 v8 mgbgt Sebring replica, Arkley, and my z3 coupe...I still look and think about new acquisitions all the time, but something has happened lately...I no longer have the knee jerk desire to rush out and acquire them...in a perverse way, it is somewhat comforting to not have to conjure up complicated plots and scenarios to acquire new vehicles...now just thinking about it seems to satisfy the urge..I guess that could apply to a couple other things when we are in our seventies...chuckle

Put another 60 miles on the motor today, now up to 440 miles...today drove the roads along the Stillwater River...lots of hills and valleys...narrow twisties with the river running beside it...it was breath taking...

Looking good Kevin...keep up the good work!

Xcarguy, I have owned chassis #50 for a little over three years...counting the builder, Vince Langan I am the third owner. It runs the 3.4 V6...I stuck it at WOT last year and just installed a new engine about a month ago...I currently have @350 miles on the engine and am driving it every day to get the engine broken in before cold weather sets in...

Breaking in a new engine in the Stalker...now have 280 miles on it it...looking for every excuse possible to do "blat runs" the colors in s.w. Ohio are somewhat muted this year, but still a delight to take the car out!

The clear adhesive and aluminum/stainless protection do a creditable job, but in the end get dinged up and with the adhesive there is always some indentations in the fiberglass from larger rocks etc. I wanted to experiment with something that would totally eliminate any debris hitting and damaging the wings and that would be easily removable and easily put back on. Surprisingly, the Naugahyde has enough "give" to it that it absorbs heavy hits with no marks at all on the fender. So, if you are simply displaying your car or what have you, with the "protectors" off the wings look just as pristine as new. Bear in mind, this is just a first effort to achieve that goal and there will be modifications in design and material as time progresses.

I just painted my Stalker and wanted to come up with a way to protect the rear fenders from rock/gravel chips. Came up with these pieces that I made from some naugahyde (sp?) left over from an old mgb project. Will make the next set from black material and continue experimenting with other concepts. After a couple hundred miles the protective chaps have held up well and there are no chips or dents in the paint. They attach through two lower eyelets to two small bolts on a bracket behind the lower part of the fender, and then to a top bracket with Velcro is used at the top. They go on and come off in seconds...takes a couple minutes to remove the top velcro brackets. http://s1281.photobucket.com/user/foto8mike/library/Stalker%20Wing%20Spats?sort=3&page=1

The TR4 engine was derived from the Massey Ferguson tractor engine...although other than a few nuts and bolts the engines were quite different. The tractor engine was very low compression so the crank, heads, and even the block had to be modified/strengthened to be functional in a tr2/3/4.....
