  1. Well, it has a tractor engine, what else would you expect! Chuckle....
  2. I first did the dragon about 15 years ago with the Spurious MG V8/V6 group in my mgbgt with a 60 degree v6 in it...Mrs. Maloney's fingerprints remained imbedded in the dash of that mg for the remainder of my stewardship of that car...the closest I ever came to death on the dragon was on vacation in my then brand new 1989 Chrysler Lebaron...I was going up the hill with my drivers window down and a dump truck was coming down the hill with a load of big rocks bouncing around...one bounced out and hit the B pillar of my car ...came within inches of my head...beware of dump trucks bearing bick rocks on the dragon
  3. .......And it's where we in the USA are headed....... Unfortunately, you are spot on with this statement!!!
  4. I am two months shy of 71....have a Stalker V6 and an MGBGT V8 Sebring clone that I drive during months 4 through 11 here in SW Ohio...I will be driving my Gt to the British V8 meet in Colorado this summer....have a 43 year old actress daughter in Minneapolis and a 40 year old son who works/lives in Calgary, Canada....Also am ceo (grin) of Arkley NA....a small, obscure British sports car kit...(a design that requires an acquired taste with polarizing style) Drive them till you Drop''''
  5. BMW Z4's also have a knack for allowing the drivers airbag to deploy while parked and locked in the garage...don't ask how I know this...
  6. My son's job took him from Ohio to Calgary three months ago....he likes it there..but he was surprised when his jeep did not start (first time ever) at the airport after returning from a three day trip to Victoria..
  7. Took these pictures at the Cincy British car show last summer: http://s1281.photobucket.com/user/foto8mike/library/Morgan%203%20Wheel%20Cincy?sort=3&page=1
  8. ***Too many misspellings on that webpage for me to be comfortable with their product!**** I generally agree with this statement and more often than not will walk away from from ads that cobble up the syntax...but if you look at all the aspects of their webpage it looks pretty legit....
  9. Rx7locost, If there was ever one "deal breaker" with my wife...it was the lack of storage space for these sports cars....ten years ago I added 12 feet to each side of a 12' X 18' storage barn, an an additional 12" across the back for a total of 30' X 36"....now the MG's, Stalker and Z3/Z4 coupe have a cozy gathering place ....ha ha
  10. My wife is a saint....we are both in our 70's...own six cars...only one car in the stable has more than two seats...life is good!!
  11. Not taking a position here, but I have installed several aluminum V8's (commonly referred to as BOPR >) into mgb's over the years....the reason the bopr is the "swap de jour" for mgb's is that the engine weighs 70 lbs less than the 4 cylinder mgb engine and puts out several times over the amount of hp/torque....yes, it's "old tech" (compared to LS et al.) but is still a viable power plant for increasing performance in any sports car...
  12. Do Not Suppress the Joy of Seven Heaven
  13. As I recall, the specific example in Dutch's article was a friend of his whose car developed the bearing failure and was just a week or two past the lawyer "negotiated" warranty period and the car had only about 7K miles on it!! This unwarranted screwing of a somewhat exclusive customer base will definitely hurt Porsche....as it should!

    New Toy

The MGA looks great! A perfect candidate tor a SBF or BOPR V8? Hey, just kidding, that would be blasphemy! We'll save those V8's for the half million mgb's they made...enjoy your car!
  15. Wanting a "minilite" type wheel, I recently shopped around quite a bit comparing features and price for wheels for my Stalker. I narrowed my search to VTO, Compmotive, and Team III. I ended up going with VTO primarily because of price. I generally am happy with the VTO's, but there are drawbacks. I needed zero offset wheels and discovered when I got the wheels that VTO achieves more negative offset by simply adding a LOT of material on the rear on the rear of hub in order to drill the holes deeper. A better wheel achieves this by actually MOVING the center of the hub deeper toward the center of the wheel. Sadly, my VTO's weigh about 2 lbs more than the factory S-10 wheels I removed! I have Konig Rewinds (cheaper than VTO's) on my MG Midget and my MGB GT and I can tell you that these wheels (15 X 7) achieved the zero offset properly by having a VERY narrow mounting hub. I would put the Rewinds on my Stalker but can not get them drilled to the required 5 X 4.75 pcd. Having said all this, if your vehicle wheel has positive offset requirements, this probably will not be as much of a problem.

  18. I live in Ohio, and for the past 40 years, I have never attached the front plate to my British cars, or my Stalker...surprisingly (to me), they really do not seem to be concerned about it..I always put the front plate under the passenger side carpeting in case they ask...btw...last week I was pulled over in my Stalker doing 70 in a 50.....I was issued a warning because I had not had a ticket in over ten years...something to look forward to for you younger guys...I really believe they give old guys a break on this stuff (I'm 70) they see the good driving record and the gray hair and I think they say to themselves, this poor old bastard has already paid his dues.. :-)
  19. Lancylad, That may be THE classic picture of a Seven!!

  22. Hi Z3 Stalker....Sevenup here...was just wondering what the significance is of your title....I have a Z3 Coupe and a Stalker...was wondcering if that was the case with you?

    cheers

  23. I have always admired the E36-8 Coupe from the first time I saw one in 1999. I am on my 2nd Z3 coupe and consider it my "keeper for life" . But, I really like coupes...as evidenced by my mgbgt sebring clone and my previous monster miata with a hardtop and a z3 roadster with a hardtop...do you see a pattern here :-) My favorite 7 hardtop is the silver home fabricated silver stalker that appearson these pages from time to time...
  24. Just an update on my selection process for a minilite type wheel for my Brunton Stalker. I ended up going with the VTO's mostly because of price. I ended up paying @ $770 for them including shipping. This was almost half the price of Compmotive and a little less than a third the price of Team III. The best I could do with VTO was a zero offset wheel, so in order to maintain the negative 1/4" offset of the S-10 wheel, I knocked the old studs out and put in longer studs from NAPA to compensate. I then put on 1/4" spacers to get the negatgive 1/4" offset. This was based on some good advice from fellow Stalker owners. Somewhat disapointing is the fact that the vtos actually weigh a couple of pounds more that the S-10 wheels...the reason for this is that VTO (and perhaps Compmotive) simply adds material to the back of the hub to achieve zero offset, rather than actually moving the hub in toward the car to achieve the proper offset. I am sure this is based on economy and the fact that most of their wheels are made for British cars that typically have @ 1" positive offset. For sure, Team III welds their centers to the exact offset position required and thereby creates a minilite wheel with less weight. One simply has to weigh the cost implications before making a decision. To be sure, I am very happy with the the VTOs and they certainly improved the cars appearance. Fuctionally they are just fine.
  25. I have my Stalker 3.4L, MG gt 3.9L Sebring clone, and my Arkley Midget insured with Hagerty. Costs me @ $400 annually. Basically, just can not use the car for every day use, only for pleasure.....
