Where to test drive or sit in some 7s in midwest USA?
sevenup replied to kaptain86's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Kaptain...have a Stalker in sw Ohio...you are welcome to look at....sit in...ride in... http://www.usa7s.net/vb/attachment.php?attachmentid=11604&stc=1 -
I spend a couple days a week at the local Tipp City, Ohio library...visited today and parked my lotus clone a few doors from the library...was in there about 30 minutes....when I came out there was a guy sitting on a bench next to his Testarossa...turns out he was waiting for me to tell him about my little brunton stalker!! Talk about having your priorities in the wrong place! Grin....We had a long conversation about both cars while I kept wiping the drooling dribble from my chin...

I used to feel the same way about heavier meant better quality...and there is still truth to that....but...I live in the sw Ohio high humidity Ohio river basin and over the years have reasoned that the the lighter material T's are much more comfortable in the summer...my light material "simplify and add lightness" T's have been washed so many times over the years that they should be falling apart now but they actually still look very presentable....another thing that makes T's uncomfortable in the summer is very large silk screened designs on the shirt as they trap the heat....having said all this, more often than not, when I order the thin material T shirt, I typically also order a long sleeve of the same design of the heavier material that I wear in late fall, early spring...etc.

I ordered one before I saw your posting coffee break....I like their shirts as they are of a thinner material and perfect for hot summer days

Several months ago I made up some biscuit colored rear fender protectors for the Stalker....1500 miles later zero dings and perfect paint...the problem was the biscuit color did not go well with the brg paint. I made two more sets, one black and one dark green and they look much better than the biscuit...the spats go on and off in seconds...

The Goat's Birkin Under Construction
sevenup replied to scannon's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Years ago, I ran an early Haltech F1 on an mgb with a 3.1L 60* V6.....on hot summer days I would have to stop every 100 miles or so and plug my laptop into the module to reprogram the bars....heat sinc was a big problem on that early system for sure -
John K, generally where were you when this happend? I found some great roads last fall north of Dayton while breaking in the motor on my Stalker...

In Ohio, if you are buying a car from out of state, you must take the car to the DMV, or one of the many local authorized inspection stations (usually a car dealership). This process is very easy and really consist of simply making sure that the VIN tag on the vehicle matches the VIN on the title. That's it! You then take the VIN authorization slip to the title bureau and get your title.

My favorite ride: Blue Ridge Parkway North from Asheville.
sevenup replied to Road Ready's topic in General Sevens Discussion
What a great road that is....we typically get on the blue ridge at nc 276 out of waynesville and go north or south depending on our whim that day...seems like we usually end up at the inn at balsam mountain for lunch or dinner... -

I really enjoy Wheeler Dealer episodes...I dvr a bunch that I might be interested in and then watch them at my liesure... Yes, the Mike bargaining part is kind of hokey, as is the Ed China acting like Mike always shafts him when he initially brings the car in...my guess is that both aspects are immaterial as they make their money on sponsership and cable revenue. I like the show because they usually have the cars I am interested in and frankly I have learned a few things from Ed China..most of the cars reviewed are British and other quirky European cars...not much interested in the other cable shows which are mostly of interest to muscle car owners...

I belong to a FB page that is dedicated to an obscure sports car called an Arkley...basically a different body on a Spridget...many/most of the participants are in the UK/Scandanavia or other European countries...it always astonishes me that those EU participants are so limited on the modification they can make to a basically stock 50 year old MG midget or Austin Healey Sprite...there are often stories that insurance companies do not pay off in accidents, even modern vehicles, due to a simple improvement on vehicles (such as shock tower brace on a Z3) This far reaching government legislation scares me...

On the final page of the March issue of Motor Trend (Angus MacKenzie's column) there is an article comparing the Caterham 620R vs. the Dodge Viper ACR. The article is also a promotion for purchasing the paid subscription, Motor Trend "OnDemand" which I think is the former Speed Channel. Having said that the three column article puts the Caterham in a very good light...a hint...power to weight ratio for Caterham is 3.9 lb/hp versus the Vipers 5.2 ratio...

Super Stalker #154 now lives in Sacramento CA
sevenup replied to Shoe String Racing's topic in Member Rides
" That sounds like a way for a retired engineer to conclude a mid life crisis that started at the age of 18?" Love that....when I hear people chatting about a mid-life crisis, I yawn....have loved and been obsessed with cars since age 10-11..... -
Been on the Dragon with my V6/V8 mgb gt several times and it is a great experience...worst situation you can be in there is to be an average or below average driver in the middle of a twelve car pack of skilled drivers....that is where sh*t happens...I am in Ohio but spend a lot of time in the Waynesville, NC area, that area of the blue ridge is in excellent shape, at least the area from route 276 east up to Boone area...

When I painted my Stalker I wanted to come up with a way to protect the rear fenders from rock/gravel chips. Made these pieces from naugahyde. The next set will be black material....experimenting with other concepts. After a thousand miles the protective chaps have held up well and there are no chips or dents in the paint. They attach through two lower eyelets to two small bolts on a bracket behind the lower part of the fender, and then to a top bracket with Velcro applied. They go on and come off in seconds...takes a couple minutes to remove the top velcro brackets. An alternative to consider.

Completed my last blast of the year today....did 60 miles....finally attained 1003 miles on the new 3.4 engine...will change the old and filter this afternoon...(also changed oil/filter at 500 miles...the car seems to run better every time I take it out...Cheers everyone!!
