  1. Okay, for what it's worth (discussion wise, for trailer size), here is a photo of my 'Storker' (yes, o' Mightiest of Mikes, that's just for you :jester: ) sitting on my lift. The car, as stated earlier, has a wheel base of 92". The internal lift dimensions (runners: length and width) are 15' x 75". So, trailer 'size wise', what do you think?
  2. :iagree: And just think, a COMPLETE running, driving, and very well done Birkin was purchased a couple of days ago through this site for a few thousand less than the cost of the trailer. :ack: But I may still consider the helmet. :conehead:
  3. That's a great looking trailer! Maybe a weeeee bit out of my budget? :ack: But hey, if the temptation is too much, here's the perfect helmet to go with.
  4. Dale, Are you sure the Europa wasn't just trying to get out and go for a spirited run? :jester: As for trailers, you blew my budget with the lift package. :svengo: In reference to the visit, I remember your trailer and it having both the Stalker and the Birkin inside. In all fairness, I was pretty enamored with your cars that day and didn't pay much attention to the tow vehicle (sorry ). As for the Haulmark factory location, I'll have to do a bit of research.
  5. Great looking trailer, but I too have dual axles on my wish list. :iagree:

  7. There is also a Birkin on eBay right now. Lots of Sevens for sale. Buyer's market?
  8. Russ, I wish I could squeeze it in (would really like to see that trailer), but I'm planning on heading up to NJMP for the July 4th weekend. Between that and other family summer adventures, my vacation time is spread pretty thin. Dale has hit me up to do the Gathering for two years in a row since buying my car back from Sharkey. Maybe next year? If you could spare it, some more photos of your trailer (especially the cover you built) posted in this thread would be greatly appreciated by me as well as by others who are considering doing what you've done.
  9. Guy's Thanks for ALL the great input today on this thread! :hurray: The consensus is definitely in favor of enclosed trailers which is what I’ve been leaning toward. :iagree: I like the lower weight of an open trailer, but I do, for all the reason listed here, gravitate toward an enclosed trailer; be it an open trailer with a fabricated cover or a factory built enclosed trailer. Thanks again for all the input, great ideas, suggestions, experiences, etc. Shane
  10. Russ, That's one of the ideas I've been bouncing around in my head, but doing it with a tandem axle trailer. I do like it.
  11. Tom, Thanks for the input on length. Although, with my car having a 92" wheel base, I wonder if 18' might not be plenty. Great idea on the dovetail. Since I've yet to put any coin on the table, I'd like to through out another idea for discussion. I've also considered pulling the trigger on an open trailer and building an enclosure to suit my taste (not sure just what that 'taste' might be). Thoughts?????
  12. LOL!!!!! Is Lucas a nickname for Lucifer?
  13. Thanks, DeanG, I've looked at the smaller motorcycle trailers, but wondered (for the very reasons you pointed out) whether or not I could fit all the other stuff along with the car. Tom, You said you were pulling an 18' trailer. Is that overall length or usable inside length? Anybody else got a trailer length they want to toss in for discussion?
  14. I'm sure it's bitter sweet, but congratulations on the sale. Someone got a great at a great price.
  15. Drying the carpet in my Cobra required towels, blow dryers and a liberal amounts of 'verbal' incentives. :banghead: :cuss:
  16. It should be pretty obvious by now that all of my towing (regardless of what's being towed) is done with an open trailer. If I go enclosed for the 'Storker', this may solve my mirror woes. Anybody use these? http://www.etrailer.com/Custom-Towing-Mirrors/CIPA/CM11300.html Thanks again, pksurveyor, for the link. Lots of good stuff there. Looks like my Tundra is plug-n-play for a brake controller.
  17. Thed mirrors on my Tundra measure approximately 8' from outside-to-outside. Anybody towing an enclosed trailer with this approximate mirror width? If so, what width trailer? I thought I'd done some good research up to this point, but my ignorance is starting to shine. I'm all :bigear:
  18. Dang! Headed outside to check overall mirror widths. :ack: You guys are making me think; bringing some very good considerations to the table.
  19. powderbrake, I've not given thought to sway control with an enclosed trailer, or brake bias; excellent points. Thanks.
  20. pksurveyor, Good points all around. And yessir, got the 5.7 liter. Your MPG is dead-on with what I get when I tow to MSR Cresson using a rented (open) U-haul car hauler.
  21. Okay, guys, I know this topic is 'old hat', but I'm in the market for a trailer and want (NEED) your input on enclosed vs. open trailers. I know there are pros and cons with respect to gas mileage, size, security, single/double axle, protection from the elements, etc., but I'd like some 'real world' input from a group who has used both. My tow vehicle is a gas-guzzling 2013 Tundra by default. In my part of the world, a pickup is pretty much a necessity, and we have a tendency to tow other things that require brawn. Still, if gas mileage is your debatable point, please put it on the table as I would like to hear all points-of-view. :grouphug: If you've towed long-distance with an open/closed trailer, I'd like to hear how about; any issues you had, etc. Please chime in with all. Thanks in advance. Standing by. . . . . . :lurk:
  22. Mike, That car WAS Death Race 2000! :ack: That's the car I mentioned in the Handling Thread as being a beast in the turns; improper setup yielding lots of over steer. :banghead: But it was still fun . . . . . sorta. Needless to say, it didn't care to challenge wet asphalt. :jester:
  23. The Prisoner, opening. :auto: The Prisoner*#2 Opening Sequence HD [1.85x1] - YouTube
  24. . . . . . . . Everyone!!!!
  25. Seen it!!! Thumbs up on this one!!! :iagree::iagree::iagree:
