Thanks for the Home Depot tip.

No mess. No crap. Just 'man' stuff.

Tom, Other than Roger Kraus, I've never talked to anyone who has firsthand experience with both bias ply and radial slicks, but from what I've read/researched, what you are telling me goes hand-in-hand with what I've gotten from Avon, Hoosier, Roger Kraus Racing, etc.; bias ply slicks give way progressively (so to speak) when loosing grip where as radials just sort of give it up rather aggressively. :ack: I've also read that radials are a bit heavier (tire for tire) than bias ply and require a bit more negative camber for full benefit.

Man!!!! And I thought Jet-A for the Bat Plane was high . . . . . :svengo:

Fun, ain't it? Tom, on a serious note, what are the notable differences between the radial vs. bias slicks (pros, cons, etc.)? . . . . . . :lurk:

Mike, Glad you got it figured out. That explains the 5900 rpm.

I've seen a rumor floating around here somewhere.

I know we've all seen them all by now, but I've taken some of everyone's photos and added a photo album of the 2014 USA7's Gathering in the Storker Gallery: http://www471.pair.com/stalkerv/gallery2/main.php?g2_itemId=26068 :deadhorse: . . . . .

Fits right in: Gotta wonder, where is she now:

Looks like a spin-off (no pun intended) of a ring and planetary gear setup.

Mario, Wasn't sure if you would post your vids. I posted a duplicate of the email you sent me in the following section. I tried deleting the duplicate post, but couldn't. Can admin delete this: http://www.usa7s.net/vb/showthread.php?t=9759

I'll throw a few random ideas on the table for consideration. You may possibly have two unrelated/related issues; vapor lock and/or carbs that need some attention (rebuild/cleaning/adjusting). It could be a clogged fuel filter that simply needs to be replaced. I doubt you have two fuel pumps. If you had an electric pump and it quit, I doubt you would get any fuel to the carbs at all. Check the top of the fuel tank for the installation of an electric pump and trace the fuel line from the tank to the carbs in order too search for an inline pump . . . . just to be sure there is indeed no electric pump. Also, do you have any worn header wrap/heat wrap that may be adding to the problem by allowing increased underhood temps near a fuel line (vapor lock related)? Pull the fuel line off of the the upstream side (anywhere between pump and carb) of the mechanical pump and turn the engine over to see if you are actually pumping fuel. Start with the simplest task (work from the tank forward). If your fuel pickup at the tank is on the tank bottom, disconnect the fuel line and check for trash. Change the fuel filter. If for some reason you have no filter, install one. If all checks between tank and mechanical pump (getting fuel to, and past, the pump) then time to address the carbs. My two-three cents.

That's better. What great looking group.

Am I the only one that can't see the photos?

Any members near Lodi, California?

Dermot, If you will post some particulars about the car (photos a plus), it may ring familiar to someone here who actually knows the car. Just a thought. -
this particular topic

I'm not much for argu . . . ah . . . . debating politics or economics (not even going to pretend that I can add anything to this thread that's beneficial one way or the other), but I do want to say that the Company with which I am currently employed has been good to me (and my family, for that matter) in ways that I had never dreamed of before coming aboard in 2007. In the past, I've also worked for those who would squeeze you like the proverbial lemon for everything they could take from you. Sometimes it was a case of bad management at a certain level; other times it was just the way the organization did business as a whole. Anyway, I’ll sit back down and be quiet for some ringside viewing. . . . . . :flag: . . . . . . . :lurk: -
Mario just sent me this email. It has a couple of links to two short videos from the USA7's event at NJMP and followup adventure at Watkins Glen. Here's the email as I received it from Mario: All Here are two short you tube clips from NJMP & Watkins Glen The round trip was 3000+ miles from LBK. Very worthwhile and memorable in so many ways. Part One- NJMP event was 7/4 & 5 with fellow S7 type cars. NJMP is a motor racing country club that is a superb track & facility. Frosting on the cake was the exceptional hospitality of our hosts, Mike, Tom & Don. I was happy to have crew helper Steve Mack and to be in the paddock next to fellow Stalker owner Shane & his Dad. Mostly damp first day and sunny second day. This clip is started by all the seven type cars driving past my buddy Shane's red V8 powered stalker on the warm up lap. After that the field picks up speed. Part Two- Watkins Glen was 7/7 & 8 SCDA event with various car types. Running at the Glen has been a long time aspiration. We stayed at the historic Seneca Lodge and had dinner with new Sal, Janet, and new friends (Mike and Rose). Thanks again for my crew helper Sal Lauro. We dodged the first day showers and used slicks in the dry on both day one and day two. The 6 speed trans became terminal such that it was locked up in 4th gear during most of the laps. Nothing I could do about it trackside, but the torquey engine and light weight car made it possible to drive the course in fourth. Still achieved respectable speeds and passes but since I was unable upshift I couldn't go faster than 130 MPH on the longer straights. Family Time- Dinner with the whole fam damily in Westfield NJ on 7/9. Great to see everyone. Then had 36 holes of YMCA Billy's Buddies charity golf outing organized by brother Lee. The Little Engine that could- The 2000 VW Rialta is a sweet little RV and tow vehicle. Outfitted with a few improvements (trans cooler, trans temp gage, larger tires, beefed up trailer hitch. electric brakes on the trailer) it did a REMARKABLE job for a 2.8 L V6. It got me there and back without incident, it was a cozy overnight spot & a comfy trackside resting place. I took it across the FL truck scales and confirmed that I was moving 10600 pounds (only me on board) to 11100 pounds (the Parkers & Lauros) down the road depending on passenger loading. Absolutely amazing! Next racing adventure is Circuit of the Americas in November. Ciao Mario . . . . .

jevs, After looking at your Mini (very nice), I'd say if you and Gale (HOTTTCAR) are in the same neck of woods, there's no telling what the two of you could come up with if you guys combine your fab skills/ideas.

jevs, Buyer's remorse is for new car owners. Sevens (speciality cars, in general) are more of a love/hate relationship.
