  1. Al, Mazda I would like to suggest the possibility of a non competing participant. I am in the process of building but don't know if the 7 will be finished by then so dinn't feel right about registering as a compeditor when there might not be a car to compete in. 7/7 is our anniversery and my non car person wife is interested in going for the weekend. 2. I'm using a 914 shell bucket for driver and a Mustang tilt column.
  3. http://wrangler.rutgers.edu/gallery/d/36783-2/19_1.JPG Cost $25, fat tires.
  4. I'm 59 retired to build hot rods. My wife keeps saying something about second childhood to which I state "never left the first. I am building a 7 for several reasons. First I can't afford to go out and buy one. Second I can't get the Cobra much above 45 in my driveway. Third and most important I bought a very nice 12" rosewood steering wheel and I need something to put it on.
  5. Sounds bout right to me.
  6. We still in the planning/gathering/building stage so don't know if this counts but. PS, PB, ABS, EFI, CC, heater. With a 12" steering wheel and 13" (at least on the rear) tires I believe this list will make the 7 more pleasurable and should only add about 100 lbs.
  7. Where's the fun in that?? http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/nonod.gif
  8. What I plan on doing is having a lite coat of Linex aprayed insied/outside of the tub to eliminate oxidation and add a bit more finished look with out adding to maintenance.
  9. This with sidebars somewhat like slomove pictured seems like a good idea. This is a Westfield comp bar setup. For street use possibly the two outer top bars could be removeable. http://wrangler.rutgers.edu/gallery/d/36711-1/westfield-3.jpg http://wrangler.rutgers.edu/gallery/d/36629-2/412.jpg

  13. Much depends on your budget, skill level, timeframe, wow level, etc... I'm 6'5" 230lb and am building a Locost with a 392(351) and intend to have well less than the kit cost in the whole car. The resulting car will have 500+hp 4wdb, ABS, IRS, PS, crusie, etc and weigh about 1400lb. You might do some lurking on http://locostusa.com/forums/index.php. http://wrangler.rutgers.edu/gallery/d/36857-5/First+Run+Lotus7+022.jpg 1250lb LC7 with 302 & T5locostv82006-12-20 01:08:33

  15. Isn't that how a 7 is SUPPOSED to sound??
  16. The arm restraints would be a good idea on the track. What we were talking about was an autocross car where you wouldn't want the restriction of arm restraints but it would be a good idea to keep your arms inside incase of a slide. also for street use it would seem to be nice to have something to keep your arms from getting between the side of the car and something hitting the side of the car, it seems that a lot of pics of UK cars they are using the side curtians this would also help. As Mazda said he was on a cool down lap. I used to work crash/fire at a number of the Bay area tracks years ago and cool down or not the first thing we did was to get the driver out of and away from the car keeping the car between you and the track incase of fire or other drivers paying so much attention to your crash that they ran over the top of you.
  17. Those both point up the need I was discussing with someone else about the need for "Window" nets.
  18. One of the advantages of being a bit over powered. Out of curiosity were his lap times that different?locostv82006-12-08 22:17:06
  19. Sure it is , first then second then third then fourth then fifth. http://www.usa7s.com/aspnetforum/images/emoticons/crazy.gif I'm debating going AWD on Shagnasty to keep it more or less pointed straight ahead, that would seem to be an oprotunity to try the dogfaced setup.
  20. G Force produces an upgrade for the T5 that "the G-Force T-5 kit will handle roughly 600 hp or 500 ft-lb. or torque in a 3300 lb. vehicle running drag radials at the track with a moderate clutch upgrade.". This is available in a dogface and a road race dogface is under development. http://www.g-forcetransmissions.com/tran_gt-5.asp

Not if you can't drive the car because the wheels are too fragile.
