Probably not a big deal for most of you...

C-C has been down but are now up. Here is the URL on a thread about plating suspension pieces but it drifts into hardness of bolts http://forums.corner-carvers.com/showthread.php?t=31170 Appears to be good info. -

I came across a thread a couple of days ago about this, on c-c I think but thier site has been down. It seems they were talking abbout plating but the thread drifted a bit and talked about bolts. For something as critical as suspension bolts I might be tempted to check out ARP. -

Long as you keep moving you don't get too wet.

I got stopped in SF years ago in my highly messed with Alfa for noisy exhaust. The exhaust was fairly quiet, the carbs weren't and the shift point was somewhere around 10k. I invited the cop to go to the back and kinda soft pedaled then opened the hood and invited him to stand over the engine and didn't soft pedal. Noisy carb wasn't illegal only modified exhaust.

My .02 would be a single Chat forum and possibly a link to http://locostusa.com/forums/index.php for tech. I like how Club Cobra has a forum for clubs and then within that the individual clubs for club and area specific items. Just a thought. I would bet as it became more indicated that they would add make specific forums. This would allow the culb to focus more on socal/chat/events and Locostusa on the technical.

You might want to fashion somewhat after http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/index.php or http://www.locostbuilders.co.uk/index.php The mech/builder/help possibly being a link to special interest groups or forums with a search that would look at each. Also a search that would allow enough qualifying to not bring back 4000 hits.

Metoo. I doubt that L7CGB would be very accepting of my car anyhow. Jim

In a prior life I did Computer coulting all over the country and drove between 50k to 70k a year. I refused to buy a good car ($$) to be trashed in a couple of years. I would generaly buy a 500 to 1000 car patch it and put a lot of miles on it then use parts from it for the next victum. One was a 200k+ mid 70s Ford wagon that had been a Sherrif's car then a taxi then a private owner. Thru new bearings in it without puling a $200 paint job and ran it then swapped a 460 and ran it some more. I think one year I trashed 3 late 70s Tbirds. The Cobra was one of my road cars after I slowed down a bit at a bit over 100k I retired it about 10 years ago and have no reason to get rid of it. This is why I have quite a bit of pparts laying around including 6 460s and about the same Windsors. Since I was in consulting and all computer guys are a bit excentric....

I don't know if a close call counts, BUT. I was doing some consulting in Houston and had the Cobra with me. I was looking for an address in an unknown neighborhood and was becoming a bit frustrated so the pedal pressure and noise level was elevating. A cop stopped me and suggested that I watch out for the car that was tearing up the neighborhood. Guess all he saw was an old gyu in a black mustang, (hehe). At 104k it is on it's 6th set of tires and never had a wrench on it, knock on wood.

MN12 spindle measurements with yardstick & eyeball 8.5 tall 2.25 center spindle shaft to bottom 3.75 wheel mount surface to line between joints 5 steering arm center shaft to tie rod The KPI appears to be a bit less than MII though when the upper hole is machined it could be moved in to lower KPI
-
Here is a good thread on MII suspension. >http://www.pro-touring.com/forum/showthread.php?t=17433 I will try to get to the garage in a bit to get measurements. Visually they look the same with tne MN12 1" taller and a lower KPI. locostv82006-08-29 16:13:20

Another posibility would be 89 to 92 Tbird spindles. Deman uses them on their BEC, with a small amount of whittling. They come with 11" brakes and the set I got for Shagnasty cost $35 a side. They have 5 on 4.25 bolt circle but Mustang 94 to 04 hubs bolt on and Mustang GT 11" rotors then fit. http://wrangler.rutgers.edu/gallery/d/39729-2/deman+ifs+10.jpg" height="427" width="640 http://wrangler.rutgers.edu/gallery/d/39726-2/frontuprights_001.jpg" height="427" width="640 I'm going a step further and cutting more metal off so I can use 99 to 04 aluminum GT PBRs. http://wrangler.rutgers.edu/gallery/d/39691-2/DSC00356.JPG" height="480" width="640 http://wrangler.rutgers.edu/gallery/d/39688-2/DSC00354.JPG" height="480" width="640 This then goes along with the Cobra/MN12/Explorer sourced IRS. http://wrangler.rutgers.edu/gallery/d/39682-2/DSC00350.JPG" height="480" width="640 http://wrangler.rutgers.edu/gallery/d/39735-2/deman+irs+3.jpg" height="427" width="640 locostv82006-08-29 00:24:22

Some thoughts: 9 board members is a nice size for the board in an ongoing manner The board at an annual meeting elects from the board members a chairman of the board. The board conducts all club business. A private forum is set up for "Members Only" on which the minutes of the board are published. The minutes are considered accepted at the end of 7 days after posting if no challenge. Any member may propose an action item for the board and if seconded by a second member then the board takes timely action, the action may be to either accept, decline, or study for action at the next board meeting. Any member may challenge a board action and if seconded will be polled on "Members Only" a 2/3 majority of those responding to the poll within a 14 day period wins. The board "May" post questions to the membership on "Members Only" for comments or a poll.

I don't know about Caterham but Lotus had more than one frame supplier and each supplier stamped their own # on the frame which had nothing to do with the VIN on the data tag.

FWIW a friend many years ago rebuilt his Alfa due to a faulty compression gauge.

Sal Linex is a two part polly coating which should completly seal. It is my understanding that the DIY available in the stores is kinda thick paint, no tech to back up. I had the interior of a jeep done with Linex and was extremly pleased. Linex is a franchise and I have heard bad of some stores. I was able to go and hang out a while to see them work and see some finished jobs. I also tend to hang around while things are being done in general. Third hand info a friend of a friend had a circle track car linexed and weighed after. He stated that with the linex the car was 20 lb lighter, again no tech and third hand. I am going with heavier tubing and welded steel pannels for additional strength so will have the entire tub Linexed inside and out, with a bit heavier coat on the inside floor. It should just look like I painted the tub with chip guard. Jim
