My 10-year old daughter officially renamed my Birkin "Cheryl". Because of my injury, I cannot work on the car, but have a couple of friends helping out. I'll post photos shortly. Mike

    Specifically, I fractured my T12 thoracic vertebra. I'll have my brace on through the end of September.

    New carbon fiber fenders and dash arrived. Also got a cool rear diffuser. Problem is broke my back riding my mountain bike last Monday and I'm laid up for the summer!

    My 10-year old daughter calls my car Cheryl. I introduce my car as a Birkin S3, but end up restating that it is a Lotus 7 replica.

    I don't suppose I have a terribly good reason to swap out the engine. If I keep the ZX1, I do plan to put on a new fuel injection system. Thought there may be some real advantages to swapping out, but I suppose not. Appreciate the feedback and suggestions. Mike

    I don't know what the differences are. I presume they engines share similiar DNA, but do not know what bits are interchangeable. I am interested in the newer ZX3 as it seems to have a wider variety of performance parts available due to the popularity of the Ford Focus.

    Does anyone know how hard it is to swap out a Zetec ZX1 for a newer ZX3 motor? Do many of the components swap over (e.g. header)? I'm spitballing this idea now - if too difficult, will work with what I have. Mike

    I drove my Birkin from Houston, TX to Colorado Springs, CO in sub-freezing weather with no mechanical issues besides having to replace a front lamp. Having said this, the ride was uncomfortable and I froze my tail off.
