  1. There are another couple adventures trying to make a go of it. One is just outside Airdrie, but has been planned as a full private track.
  2. This was posted in my subaru forum, and I wanted to pass along updates for you all in Alberta as well. I have simply copied and pasted from the other thread. Motorsports Enthusiasts: After many years of development, we are pleased to announce that the first reading of our re-zoning application in Kneehill County to obtain a Direct Control District to develop a comprehensive Motorsports Facility, was approved almost unanimously (6:1) by council on March 12th, 2013. The re-zoning application is to approve the development of a 4.4-mile multi-configuration Road Course, Paddock, Commercial Development, Non-motorsport Recreational Development, and Residential Development. This is a significant step towards a World-Class Motorsports facility becoming a reality in Southern Alberta; a facility which is designed to meet the needs of a wide range of motorsports enthusiasts throughout Western Canada. As many of you already know, this project has been in development since 2005. The process has taken longer than expected, but all issues have now been resolved. We still have to go through a second reading (Public Hearing), which is scheduled for June 11th, 2013. However, based on information provided to us by the Development Office of the Kneehill County, we are confident that all of the concerns raised by the area citizens have been addressed and we are very optimistic that we will obtain the final approvals in June 2013. Construction could start as soon as the Spring of 2014, with the track opening in 2015. We have thoroughly updated the FAQ section of our website to reflect the recent developments and we have included much more detailed information about the project, the planned amenities, and the operation of the Road Course. Please visit http://www.badlandsmotorsportsresort.com/faq.php for more information and for answers to many questions including: Q: Why has no information been released about the project since 2009? Q: Are there any Investment opportunities available? Q: What are the phases of Development? Q: When will construction commence and what is the proposed opening date? Q: I have heard of another proposed Motorsports Development in Southern Alberta, is this the same one? Q: How is this development different from any other proposed development in Alberta? Q: Where is the development located? Q: Do the principles of this development have any Motorsports experience? Q: How much will memberships cost? Q: Will there be financing options for memberships? Q: How many members will the facility be able to accommodate? Q: Will members be able to sell or transfer their Membership? Q: What will I receive for my membership? Q: Will there be a Kart track? Q: Will the facility be open for driving events all year round? Q: Given the climate in Alberta, How will it be possible for the Road Course to be open all year? Q: What activities will take place on the Road Courses and Skid-pad? Q: Will the Road Courses and Skid-pad be available to rent to non-members? Q: Will there be a facility available for low-speed driver training and autocross events? Q: Will there be Time Attack (Solo Sprint) at the Club? Q: Will there be Wheel to wheel Competition events on the Road Courses? Q: Will there be a drag strip or drag racing? Q: When will you start accepting deposits for memberships, garages, and residential condos? …And many more. Please feel free to share this information with your fellow motorsports enthusiasts and club members. Sincerely, Jay Zelazo President and CEO, Badlands Recreational Development Corp.
  3. With the reservoir tank holding enough coolant to cover the reservoir inlet at the bottom (when cold) and the positive pressure from the lid seal not leaking should be enough to ensure that the cooling system never ingests bubbles from the reservoir was my thought. The top line that you have on the reservoir is essentially an overflow for the reservoir correct? It just vents to the ground like the fuel filler vent tube?
  4. Bumping this back from the grave. I have sorted most of the small challenges on the car and will be submitting for IBC VIN application tonight:hurray:, but still have a few small items to deal with before I am blatting. One is directly related to this topic. I wanted to run you all past my set up for coolant and see what input I got back. I am running all the standard Birkin parts, an the only major change to the setup is the kitspares water rail kit found here: http://www.kitspares.co.uk/shop/item.php?cat=4&product=9041&catsub=0 As it sits now from the bottom of the radiator: Rad > pump > block > kitspares elbow > top of Rad A shop I was at buggered up my coolant overflow reservoir by adding (welding) an additional bung to the top, so I am contemplating purchasing a new cheap catch can ( http://www.speedzonemotorsports.com/product.php?productid=5770 ) and just running a line from the top of the thermostat to the bottom of that reservoir tank. I circled the port on the Kitspares rail kit below. It seems a simple enough solution and does not require a second return line from the reservoir. Any thoughts on a single line between cooling system and the reservoir on a 2L Zetec Daily Driver?
  5. Trust me when I say that it gets a few mixed reactions!
  6. It's too bad that you can't go into production mode. I'm sure you'd be inundated with orders given how nice they turned out. Great work again, they fit the look of your car perfectly I think.
  7. I was looking at a front bumper, rear bumper and a rear lock box for the Jeep. I only got the Sahara package, so lockers will eventually be on the list too. As a side note, have you towed your Birkin with the Jeep? I have the unlimited Jeep, so I think the wheelbase gets me a bit more capacity, but have yet to see how the pentastar handles the Birkin. I'm interested to hear what towing with a jeep is like. I'll be looking for a tilt trailer like the ones from Brunton to tow the little devil.
  8. ^^^ What he said. Great work, I really like the look. On a set of black fenders and the light bezel blacked out, they would almost disappear. Planning on selling a few machined bezels in the future per chance? lol
  9. Loving the Jeep! I got my first jeep this past June, and I have been enjoying the hell out of it. I have yet to modify the jeep (Bess) but have already got some quick disconnects for the sway bar that I hope to put on real soon.
  10. I was just being cheeky about "Custom" alphabetically being behind "Birkin". I appreciate all Se7ens and the feeling they deliver to the driver. PS. Yes, I know "Book" would have fallen in that category too though. lol
  11. So I may need a little help here team. Which wire is the exciter here? is it the same on all T connector Alternators? http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/nivaguy/ED3CD2CA-5845-4647-9BB1-456D02A0F2F7-5898-0000080EF88B865D_zps15d96664.jpg
  12. Moderators should be able to move things around after posting. I don't see why we couldnt just start the thread and move it around as needed.
  13. I actually really like the inclusion of the drivetrain. When I'm looking to creep in on a build thread to see how other Birkin owners sort out driveline specific changes, this would seriously cut down on the search time. I also like the way you laid out your build as a post, I would include a hypelink to the build thread as well. Only if there are Almacs or Aries in the club. Agreed. We could List all the others as Custom too.
  14. Just adding a couple pennies to your comments here. 1)If a newcomer wanted to reveiw the differences between the manufacturers then there would be a little back and fourth clicking between threads. It would be easier to find each respective manufacturer, but less of an overall reference of who owns what in the club, and where to find it. If all the members are listed on a single page under manufaturers then someone reseaching the differences between makes would only have to scroll down and click to open build threads. 2)I think that ability is restricted to voting within a thread. 3)I would guess that members would rely more on thier respective build threads to keep us updated on the car, and forget to list updates or changes on the main thread, quickly making the thread outdated.
  15. I like it. Just add a link to the build under each persons "registered" car, so that visitors can easily navigate from one build to another. My other car clubs have always made these lists sticky, so they are always at the top. The problem is that a Moderator would have to keep the thread clean, or locked and add the cars/links under the apporiate make/model. To keep the list orderly, I would suggest that it get broken into major makes only, and not differenciate between the various models within the make. Within this thread we can start by just having folks add the cars and someone copying the links into a new thread. I also suggest that it be organized alphabetically so the Birkin is at the top. haha. I'll start here if that works: Duane Jacka (Jackal) 1999 Birkin S3
  16. All the dates there are tentative, but I think it would be great to show up as a group, even if not competing.
  17. Same here. That Boot bag has been on my list for a loooooonnnnnggggg time. :ack:
  18. So I keep thinking that I have completed the wiring, and then a new item pops up. :banghead: My fault really though. I forgot to run a wire up to the alternator for the exciter, and another for the oil pressure sensor. On the other side, I forgot to run an extra wire for the temp sensor. All of these wires should be easily taken care of by tonight though. The wiper motor with the park feature has been a bit to sort as well, but assuming that I have a park tab on the painless switch and it connects to slow properly, that should be sorted as well. If all goes well tonight, I'll have the scuttle on the car and start the process of bleeding the brakes. Wish me luck.
  19. One of these events we should aim to take over. A whole bunch of Se7ens showing up and causing trouble.
  20. I saw this on posted on the SASC forums. http://sascsolo.ca/forums/index.php?showtopic=1276&pid=8749&st=0&&do=findComment&comment=8749 The proposed schedule for ASA http://www.albertasolo.com/
  21. Based on the timing and the overall cost that prototyping the parts would incur, I decided to order the parts from Raceline. The Yahoo group had suggested a few times to use this particular intake manifold will line up the Jenvey TB's and still have room for the chassis structure, even in the tiny S3. Jenvey verified that this manifold will work with the TB's and help provide maximum power while still conforming to the limited space. Raceline has the parts onhand an can ship them straight away. All this has led me to go this direction instead. Now I wait the few weeks for the parts. Who needs a hood for inspection anyway?
  22. I just posted this in my build thread, but I wanted to get a little wider exposure, so I'm double posting it here. I'm sorry if this is not allowed, and I'll delete it if it is not allowed. So I was fitting the hood again recently and attaching the latches, and this problem came up again. I have been using the intake manifold that came with the Jenvey kit. This manifold has a 24 degree incline that does not level out, and creates the unsightly mess you see quoted above. The link to the Jenvey intake manifold drawing is here: http://www.jenvey.co.uk/home/manifold/jenvey-dynamics/manifold-ford-zetec-tb45-mf03/pdf-drawing I found an intake manifold from Raceline here: http://www.raceline.co.uk/products/part_section.asp?SectionID=32&CategoryID=2 I have emailed Raceline and hope to hear from them soon, but I know that asking here will give me more specific answers to my application. The image of the Raceline manifold looks like the TB's level out where they mate to the manifold and would solve my challenge with the hood. Has anyone used this combination (Raceline manifold, Jenvey DCOE TB's)? Has anyone with a Birkin used this combo? Any input or picture references I can draw upon? Thanks.

  24. I think the only good that can come out of Speed being rebranded is that fact that this show dies with it.
  25. Hardy Har Har. Will everyone who completely assembled and rewired their car from a basketcase hack job please stand up.................:boxing: I think 18 months from start to finish isn't too bad.
