First drive review: Caterham 620R
Jackal replied to supersportsp's topic in General Sevens Discussion
Here's my first attempt on my first time on tinkercad. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/nivaguy/BC565177-0A98-426B-9957-F54D64B71C14-1885-0000017F95031612_zps71dc682c.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/nivaguy/CA05DE46-11CE-42C4-A974-61A89D991E55-1885-0000017F9DE9EA51_zps66a4423a.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/nivaguy/09DF0A7B-E280-4315-A518-EC14093250E7-1885-0000017FA465118A_zps13d100ca.jpg -
First drive review: Caterham 620R

I'm actually talking to a machinist about a one off design similar to it. He's in one of my other forums, and does CNC machining for a living. The cost would be high for the program, but does come down on a per key fob basis..... -

I saw the promotional material a while back and became obsessed with the key that comes with the car. Unfortunately Caterham will not be selling them like they do the plastic key fobs covers. :toetap05: -
Just posting the tune thus far. A little more street tuning will be needed for low rpm, and adjustments with load. Stupid me didn't think to ask for a soft copy, so you get to view a picture of the chart. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/nivaguy/7B3D25A2-980F-4B1E-8522-2416516A3798-1032-000000A7A6AFE68A_zps4f81e361.jpg

Hmmm. Direct replacement for the one you have, I'm not sure. There may be the odd part that needs moving or adapting, but for my application it was a direct fit. You need to specify the manifold that levels the ITB's if you go for the whole set up. I would guess that the manifold you have has a pretty standard shape and bolt patern.

I'm running Jenvey ITB's. They are another option if a full swap is needed. http://www.jenvey.co.uk/home/throttle-body-kits/jenvey-dynamics/ford-zetec-tbp45-throttle-body-kit-ckfd03

Hi Everyone. Although our cars are best experienced on the open road, I know there are a few interested in showing off a little as well. My Subaru club posted this a little while back, and I thought I'd see if anyone planned on attending from here. http://quarryparkandpolish.com/

I was amazed last night with exactly how far off I was initially with the steering rack. The tell tale sign was how poor the car turned left. It had the turning circle of the moon. Yet to the right, I could turn like a skid steer. Hopefully I have it mostly sorted, and I'll let Terry set me up the rest of the way.

Haha. Sorry, you caught me with a poor list edit there, then I had an unexpected guest show up just as I was doing the final proof read. Still a few little jobs left on the list, but I imagine that I may get out to work on her this weekend. I can't do major work on her in the garage, so I have to get here on the street for that. Regardless, my first run in her is still a ways off. August 23rd I'll be skipping my work BBQ that I'm organizing, to haul her to Red Deer to get the OOP done. My first official drive will be a few days later.

Editing the list. - Double check the wipers and the wiper motor connection, and fill the washer bottle - Look at small leak from the top of the fuel sender unit gasket, and meter out the resistance as the gauge and sender are mismatched - Add the speedo sender unit to the transmission - Double check reverse lights
-
Its not a seven...but in the same spirit

I love just about everything about this car. -
The PN's escape me at the moment, but Willwood also makes a Girling replacement. They seem to be the most readily available.
-
- Look at small leak from the top of the fuel sender unit gasket, and meter out the resistance as the gauge and sender are mismatched - Rerun the Chassis ground, and increase the size of the alternator supply line - Centre the steering rack, and adjust the steering accordingly - Check into a small leak from the bottom of the motor. It just developed since my last oil change. :-/ - Redo the hood seal, and add the remaining two latches - Add the speedo sender unit to the transmission - Shore up the alternator mount and swap the pulley - Double check the wipers and the wiper motor connection, and fill the washer bottle - Apparently I have a bad ground on the passenger head light I have to source - Double check reverse lights - Fixed the horn ground
-
Track rod ends, rerun a couple wires, shore up the alternator mount, swap the alternator pulley, check small leak on the bottom of the motor, run the speedo sender now that it has arrived, and check a small seeping leak around the fuel gauge sender gasket.

I still have work to do, and would like to document it here. I'll have to take a drive in the parking lot before that work I guess. :driving:

Glad to hear you've made it. Wish I could join you Tuesday. Enjoy the heck out of your stay.

No sir. Not my tire marks, and not from my shop either. Just coincidence that they happened to appear since my last visit. I have a few little items to sort out, so the time between now and the 23rd. That's when one of our members will be back from The Grizzly Bear Blat and be able to have a look at it for OOP.
-
No. Unfortunately not. I was just curious if it was still on and if there were any copilot seats open.

turn signals and hazards stopped working

Having the problem only when the car is running indicates to me too much amperage from the alternator. Have any other fuses blown? Ones that you may not have needed recently. Heater, wipers, washer... that sort of thing. -
So she has been tuned. 116 HP, and 119 ft/lb of torques. Not monster numbers, but what I expected from the motor, and easily able to be added to. I have to learn to not be so ham fisted behind the wheel before that happens though. http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/nivaguy/EF6A8F47-FF18-4302-8071-FFA1199A0D54-17493-00000F559B25B0F1_zps304f948d.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/nivaguy/0D18C193-E602-4540-BE52-87F7822536D4-17493-00000F55D3CE35E8_zps6fc69991.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/nivaguy/BF86FB56-7EB9-4B7C-9155-C0A3732D6FB4-17493-00000F55C55CFD4C_zps8b190c2a.jpg http://i99.photobucket.com/albums/l294/nivaguy/0C5FDE62-268C-423D-93B9-7692DA3191F0-17493-00000F6F1EB59BFF_zps4bdaed3f.jpg
