  2. New razors will get sharpened when you by them regardless, but usually that happens from whatever shop you purchase them from. I have never seen a shop that didn't hone the blade before sending it to you. Of course the honing it gets there may not be to specs either, so a quick honing is usually in order. Either way, they often get coated in oil for a long term packaging so oxidation is a minimal concern. Good luck in the search and I hope you get exactly what you are looking for. Many times Kijiji has estate sales that pop up and lots of razors can be found.

  5. Hi There, I have been shaving with a straight razor for a while and love it. Nothing like starting the day off with the sharpest item you own held to your neck. When dealing with a straight razor, buying new has some advantages. Finding a classic razor is always nice, but you will need to have someone who is able to restore it, and bring the blade to shave ready condition. This can cost time and money to get done, and some blades may show that they were not worth the effort after it has been spent. New razors are guaranteed and “shave ready” out of the box. This will greatly add to your first experience with a straight razor. There are plenty of places you can find deals on straight razors. Ebay is alright, but stay away from blades that are made in India. Generally they are softer metal and you can’t keep a good edge on them. There are a couple sites that offer a better deal than the local brick and mortar stores, but the Brick and mortars will have examples you can hold and get the balance of. Balance is going to be one of the main things you’re looking for. The angle that the blade glides across the face is the most important thing to learn, and it’s easier to master when the blade works for your hand and grip. Beyond that, the preparation is one of the main things to consider. A preshave oil and good shaving soap are key. For preshave oil I use Known Felon, and the soap from Art of Shaving. For the first few attempts, pay special attention to a good steaming on the face and lots of preshave oil. Have a look at straightrazorplace.com for lots of good tips and tricks, and they also have a classified section where you can find restored blades. Badgerandblade.com is another place to learn more.   7. I hope to go get the car started this weekend. I have had gobs of stuff keeping me busy recently. First up will be a bath for her and a run down on the stuff that needs doing. Some things got removed and moved around for storage. The motivation for the project is my biggest hurdle at the moment. The inspection last year took the wind from my sails and I haven't been able to get it back.

  10. The short answer is "No". I have been having challenges getting motivated to get out an work on her. I have a list of things to do to get it ready for the test, but she just gathers dust. Last year I had a tough time with the inspection fail. Not so much with what I did incorrectly (minor things), but with the items I was asked to change that don't seem to apply to any of the other cars. This has resulted in my lack of motivation to even bother.

  13. The Morgan Three Wheeler is on my bucket list to drive. I love the look of it and hope someday to even just see one in the tin.
  14. I have been wanting to do this for a while. I am certainly interested in the parts depending on the price. I haven't done enough research to fairly mention a price though. My VCT head on the Zetec and the paltry 116 Hp it produces is not up to par.

  17. I would swear I saw one was slightly different. I think its the drivers side rear. It was slightly different on the inside hub. Let me know what you come up with for the body. I'm vacuum forming the cycle fenders in the next couple days and will post pictures if I'm successful. If not, I'll just try again. lol

  19. I'd say quirky. That's the thing about these cars though isn't it? They aren't pretty cars to begin with, they certainly aren't an Alfa or an Aston. They have quirky good looks to us. I like the hard tops pictured and can't help but think that there are aerodynamic advantages to the top as well. Good looking top, and it seems to be super easy to use. Great work!
  20. I have often thought about a hardtop for the Birkin. I'm not sure it's right for me, but then again, I'm not on the road yet. I have thought about how to do it though. I was thinking about using resin on a soft top. It would have to be mohair, and able to let the resin set in though. I figured if you have a top you like the shape of and resin it, you can get the hardtop you want. This is the same technique used in building speaker boxes for custom cars. Build a frame, drape the cloth material and resin it. All that's left is to sand an paint.
  21. The wheel size shouldn't be too difficult, but make sure you get the right ones. There is one wheel slightly different than the other three. The body is out of stock currently on the yokomo website. I can't find the link to email them though. Anyone know Japanese? That's why I thought about even vacuum forming my own.
  22. Finally got around to getting the electronics into the car. There is so little space in the car that I even had to take the speed controller out of the plastic case and mounted the circuit board directly into the car. Once I got the electrics in I took it for a test drive and it is bloody quick with the Copper Head motor in it. I have accidentally left burnout marks all over the kitchen floor. :rofl: I also purchased some lexan and intend on making cycle fenders for the car. There are plenty of DIY videos for small vacuum tables on Youtube, and I figure it should be relatively easy to make the fenders. If I get good enough at that, I may try making a mold of the car as well, and then vacuum forming multiple bodies for it. That way I can paint up a good looking body for when on the shelf.

  24. I don't know how everyone else feels, but I really like the look with the extra body panels in the car posted above. I know, I know it's extra weight and not needed, but there must be some benefit to the bodywork as far as aerodynamics besides the interestingly good looks.
