Pretty little car, Did the insurance pick up the tab after the joy ride, what happened to it? I would have thought that if the car was torn in to the carbs should be sorted.

The cars were always overpriced and are now fkn nutso priced.. Because ppl are so passionate about em,Caterham in the UK has always been a company that does just about the minimum in customer support and care, and trying to buy a Caterham( or parts) in the USA is that experience diluted down; always seemed to be more like a bother to them than anything else. The Superformance deal...I have no idea how that will pan out, I do know that I was looking to buy a new S1 around 10 years ago when they first came out and did not due to not feeling comfortable with the distributor. Google Caterham USA and see the site it now brings up, not very good, and the dealer list and their links are spotty. I love these cars, as I am sure all do on here, but I just feel that the name is being pimped out here in every way. Frankly, as patchy as it was some years ago in the US it seems better that what is happening now. PS, what happened to the old dealer network?,

Those prices are insane. The prices for Caterhams have always been a little silly in the USA, but this new venture takes it to a new level. Anyways, while Caterham USA has decided to price it's 7,s through the roof and isolate their market to the few , the alternative manufacturers look better and better.

Just when I thought you were starting to fall in love with me.. I was in my teens in the 70,s..my Uncle Dick looked like that exactly, with a cravat, like Terry Thomas or Leslie Phillips, and yes I did get pissed when he put his tongue in my girlfriends mouth under the mistletoe. But back to the car, yeah, I agree with the John Player Special colours in that car. I had a beat Imp that I wanted to kit out as a Davrian or Ginetta or Clan at the time and they had some of the same influences in lines so I guess I forget what was cool then

I had no idea they had a factory hardtop,. I always thought that these were so fugly to all earlier but looking in context to the time when they were made I can see why they did it, still not working for me personally though,I keep thinking "Hey England, how about a "Sand Dune Buggy Thing". http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lotus-Super-Seven-sports-1974-lotus-super-seven-7-series-4-real-lotus-/281314532866?forcerrptr=true&hash=item417fa71e02&item=281314532866&pt=US_Cars_Trucks

I tend to think it is good when they look out for each other on poss shady deals/cars.

Google sellers phone number and read what they say about him and his selling practices in several other forums, particularly Ferrari Chat, and others, nothing good; and the way the sale was tried on here initially was very odd to say the least. . here is the number on the ebay ad...908-295-9088. I noticed that too Croc, auction runs for a week, reaches reserve, bids on, ends with a sale, then re listed in a few hours with duplicate ad?? whole thing just looks fishy.

Saw one of these in the flesh today, WOW! Any one here ever driven one?

is that really an ad or a parody? If it is real, it is about the worst I have ever seen.

Caterham Mention in Car & Driver, Kind Of
rikker replied to lucky dawg's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I agree with dawg. I believe I speak for many of us when saying that we cannot get enough of classic 69! (or any 69 come to think of it). -
Thanks for the input Lucky, boy are you ever right. So the car is going to need brakes soon, and has curbed lips on two of the wheels, plus all 4 tires will need replacing , so I contacted a MB dealer: here is the breakdown: Left/Front Wheel $1430 (part only) Left/Rear Wheel $1980 (part only) 4 Tires (2 Options): Continental Contisportcontact 3 $1353 (incl. mount/balance, road hazard, etc) Pirelli Pzero Rosso Asimmetrico $1346 (incl. mount/balance, road hazard, etc) Both sets are factory recommended and Mercedes Original (MO on sidewall, specifically designed for MB) Alignment $179 Front Brake Pads/Rotors $2497 (incl cleaner, paste, sensor, etc) Rear Brake Pads/Rotors $920 (incl cleaner, paste, sensor, etc) WOW!, (evidently with these composite rotors they are reluctant to turn them). After looking at the car's service history it has had in the first year alone a new power steering pump, sensors and valves in the brake system, complete new steering rack; then a constant list of loose or damaged trim items. Not a great track record for any new car, let alone a MB that was $80K new.

You loose the bet, I think it is just fine.

But I have to move fast, hence the in your face thread(This group allows us a lot of latitude, but admin, please feel free to relocate my ramblings to the depths if need be),so everyone in here appreciates all kinds of performance cars and many members have a lot more experience and knowledge than I with various cars. I have searched the MB and SLK forums for info already but would be greatly appreciative of the input of those here ... I have a chance through a friend of a friend to buy a 2007 SLK 55 AMG(with under 25K miles and a good service history) with the 030 package , this consists of, composite wheels and compound upgrades brakes, suspension upgrades and trim bits. This is to be a birthday gift for my partner, I have never driven any SLK, let alone the 55 and this one is quite a distance away for me to get to, if I do get to travel there then it will be hopefully to buy.( I am also not able to drive anything similar from elsewhere right now) I have read up quite a bit but just hope that someone here has had hands on with the car or a friend of theirs,or even if you haven't feel free to voice your opinion.Always good to get input on a car buy. Thanks .

and looks like you have a place the size of an aircraft hanger to build it in with no shortage of tools, that is so great. Good Luck and keep the info coming, it has been a while since a scratch build was full documented on here.

Too right Swede, I thought originally it was someone asking for guidance on a first time buy, not it sounds more and more like a pro seller.

Finally, a beer for Porsche drivers...
rikker replied to rikker's topic in General Sevens Discussion
I should have narrowed it down to "late model 911 owners", they even look down their noses at Boxster/Cayman owners as if they are entry level peasants who cannot afford a new 911.(and kinda in the same vein how could anyone ever make fun of the best little, most reliable, cheapest to run, most fun sports car in the world for the last 20 odd years, the MX5/Miata). I like the mid engined cars a lot,in many respects even over the mighty 911, then when you put the price into it I like em even more. I was going to mention about Porche being the only marque that a lot of owners look down upon their fellow brand brothers who have paid less; but come to think of it I guess pretty common. While maybe to the hard core, what it is diluting the brand may well be to many just snobbery. Ah, a lot of it it is little more than human nature I guess. PS : Klassic.. I have to ask is a "Rustang" a Roush Mustang or just a rusty one? PPS : on a dif note, today is my birthday, 59, someone asked "how old" and I had to think for a few secs before answering; do not think that ever happened when I was 7. I should be in rare form 20 years from now.My excuse is I used to get more than one card then. and word for the day...UMBRAGE um·brage ˈəmbrij/Submit noun 1. offense or annoyance. "she took umbrage at his remarks" synonyms: take offense, take exception, be aggrieved, be affronted, be annoyed, be angry, be indignant, be put out, be insulted, be hurt, be piqued, be resentful, be disgruntled, go into a huff, be miffed, have one's nose put out of joint, chafe -
