  1. Ha ! Wow!, Too funny, No, I meant I had just bought a car that was not a 7, and was asking if there could be a section on here for other cars as many here have now or have owned in the past many other interesting cars. I thought you were taking the piss till I googled Nota Car, LOL.
  2. I just bought a nota7 and feel self conscious taking room in here.
  3. Martin, Yes, that is a good tip. I live way further north, a little beach town called Gearhart, one of the few places on the Pacific coast that you can still drive on the beach.Actually, many of the locals run up to 20 miles along the beach to Astoria area when the summer traffic blocks US 101. So, I have been putzing around with this car, the one area that it really falls down( and I guess most others of this era) is in the seats, they have zero lateral support, I hate sliding around, lol.
  4. Yeah , it is thanks. Funny tho, I have a 92 Miata, which is a British Sports Car made leak proof and generally bullet proof and never really had to do a damned thing to; this TR is a temperamental bitch to say the least, and I quickly realise just how far cars have advanced in the last 50 to 60 years, but I have to say there is just something about it that fires my spirit. When I park the car and just have to stop and take a look back as I walk away, then that is a really good sign that the car has a soul. Plus, it is a great way to find out how every little mechanical item works, particularly those that use electric.(the whole car has 2 fuses, great right, well yes, but when one thing blows it takes most of the car with it,LOL.
  5. Here are some pics I took today, 80 on the Oregon coast is rare.
  6. Shake Rattle and Roll! Bought it, Love it ! Thanks for the input.
  7. Is Arch still making stuff?
  8. Thanks Silk, it will just be a Sunday driver, did you like them?
  9. thank you.
  10. Does any one have hands on experience of the TR4 range by Triumph.I know this is not really 7 stuff but would appreciate the views of forum members as many of you have experience with multiple brit cars, and yes I do intend to join the TR clubs and forums too. I always loved the look of these cars. I have a chance to buy a totally frame off restored 65 TR4, no overdrive, live axle car at what i think is a fair price ($16000). It is a fair ways from me so I am looking for input, pros or cons from any who has owned or driven one as I have done neither. Thanks
  11. I guess so ! Here is one thing I am not clear on (well one of many to be honest), but I was always under the impression that Federal Law trumped State Law, but with recent new Gun Laws in CT and CO they appear to have beaten the government to it. Pretty big changes in CO too with the new pot laws, can these laws be overturned by Washington, or would they try and hurt that state financially for not playing ball?
  12. I think we can all agree that Mexico is out of control. With regard to UK, Eire, Canada and Australia, yes the rates for death by firearm are miniscule now, but they never really were that high anyway, particularly when compared to the US. The non gun homicide rates actually climbed for a few years peaking in 2005 then dropping drastically. As you said before , and I totally agree, other weapons can and will be used but if we can reduce these terrible mass killings then we should at least try, and yes gun control is just one part of the answer, but it is a very important part. I agree with you that society plays a huge part in crime and violence but surely when you look at the number of guns in this country and the ease with which they can be purchased then this has to be a huge factor. Is the only way to reduce gun violence to put more guns out there?
  13. The gun laws that were introduced in 1997 were as a direct result to the massacre of schoolchildren by a lone crazed gunman, (sound familiar). Homicides by firearms are virtually non-existent there now and the overall violent death rate far lower that the USA. A very similar set of circumstances happened in Australia too. It looks like there are going to be changes here and I welcome them. What are you afraid of? You know, of course, people can be killed many weapons such as those you mentioned BUT do you really think that the recent tragedies in CO and CT would have had anywhere near the death tally without the use of semi-assault rifles and their high velocity bullets spewing into innocent people?
  14. What is there to "understand", not much of a learning curve is there really? Regarding your take on history, I wonder how many citizens had their own cannon. The rifle or musket was a tool used by many for hunting, so I am sure it was not that thrilling to be told they could own what they already had anyway. I guess they were also used to keep pesky indians and slaves under control. The real power pieces of the day were the big artillery pieces and ships of war, the only chance a regular joe had to get one of those was to become a pirate. So today,we cannot go out a buy a missile, or a warplane or an aircraft carrier; and owning anything that blows people up would make you a terrorist. So you you really think that owning a firearm today would stop an "overeaching government" and who wants to live in constant fear of a government. Do you really believe that registration of a gun or owner is a precursor to collection and total ban?
  15. words fail me.
  16. You have to do it with a means of transport so why not with a weapon of death? and by the way, read the whole story before you judge, you are no longer a controller.
  17. and the same by myself, and the majority of this great country that chose to be Democrat with a President of the same.
  18. Sadly it is real.... now I will not sleep a wink. Evidently John Rambo is alive and active in this forum, he drives a 7 with the "hands" of Bruce Lee.. I am particularly worried not just by your brags of a huge Armageddon stash you claim to have but your " other various tools of mayhem". I asked before how many gun advocates are happy with just one gun? no one answered. Is anyone else getting sick and tired of hearing about the 2nd Amendment and its " right to bear arms", when was that changed to "arms that will never be equal to what the government has"?, because that is what it is now.So if the arms that we are allowed to have kill more than they save then why have them?
  19. I wish it were.
  20. Kinda, looks like fun too....
  21. So SHT, you quote just one instance of home defense in a paper, then say that you believe that there are at least 65000 ( low quote) such occurrences every year, that would average pushing 200 a day ! Even for an ultra conservative NRA zealot that is one hell of a stretch. Are you happy with the status quo? do you believe there is no problem? If there is a problem with gun violence do you believe that the answer is more weapons of death and more ammunition. Is the opening of a new gun factory really a cause for celebration? You asked " would I change my opinion if someone was threatening my family in house with a tire iron" ?...well,would you change your point of view if you were asked to identify your 6 year old child shot to pieces after a carnage like Sandy Hook? By the way, how many guns does the average gun lover own? You appear to be somewhat educated yet why would you support an archaic law, to protect us against exactly what, bad government...it appears to be failing? This 2 nd Amendment was put into law by old men that believed that it was OK to own slaves, that women would never vote, and that it was OK to use poor young children as a labour force , education and health care were only for the rich and privileged. So, in conclusion "Maestro", would you favour any change whatsoever or is everything hunky dory?
  22. but lets not have facts get in the way when you make a point. It was in fact a small Colt Licensee in Oregon that makes special target rifles that has been looking for a larger plant and "may" move to TX.
  23. Where do you live? The climate will affect you a lot.
  24. I rarely agree with you, but hats off to you on this one, you are doing what you believe to be the best for your children and I have to admire and respect that. Good Luck to you all and I hope things turn out well.
  25. I know I am not being forced to own a gun but that really is not the issue is it. However I am affected by the quantity of guns and who owns them.Do you really think more guns are the answer? Your fantasy scenario of saving my family with a gun against a home invader rarely happens does it, though it is good material for an NRA ad. What I do see are thousands of innocents being massacred year after year by guns.I would never have a gun in the house, even more so with children around. Why would anyone have a problem with universal background checks, banning the types of guns that are modeled on military designs for mass killing and restricting clip size. How about having to pass a test and get a license to own a gun, how about owners having to have insurance on the weapon, how about pushing more research into guns that only fire for the owner. Why would anyone want to have a concealed weapons permit? Just think about the amount of personal info that is pulled when you call to get a car insurance quote, not only your driving record but your credit rating too.Try getting a drivers licence in another state and hoping that old DUI has gone away. and so on. As much as I hate it I understand that this is a gun culture country and the 2nd is like a scripture to many, but what is wrong with a shot gun for home defense, a hunting rifle for hunters and target rifles that are kept under lock and key at a gun club. I know that you and many others feel strongly about this but really, we do have to start somewhere, how many more Sandy Hooks will there be before we do something.
