But , I think a lot of the fudging here has to do with two points, in most other countries you are dealing with one national car registration system and the rules are common ( and it seems often make more sense, also helps if they are familiar with your type of car). Here, there are massive differences from state to state ( and often within the cities of one state, particularly with smog/emissions./ safety laws). So, a lot of times it is like a game trying to convince a bored post menopausal witch that the car that you just finished building with a 2012 body from the UK and an engine from a 2007 wrecked Ford Focus really is a 1967 Lotus 7 from England. PS, I really do find it odd that here in the USA you can buy guns with no standard balances or checks, and without too much hassle get a permit to carry them everywhere ,yet a car like this is often not able to be registered or used.

as we got from Pot to Booze to Guns, I thought I would add the only other item on the list that Yanks want to moan about...Abortion rights. Oh, Oh sorry..I forgot Socialized Health Care, there you go.. Now like the magicians audience all look at the list above and the flock of white doves out of my sleeves while the thieves pick your pockets. Note to self: I should not be surprised that group of specialty car owners are predominantly conservative, comfortably well off ,white american, mature, middle to ancient aged, inflexible men .

Even those that cannot abide guns, (like myself), understand that a total gun ban in the USA is probably never going to happen; but we have to do something. To have a standard nationwide background check for all guns purchased might be a good starting point , as would high capacity clips and rifles that were clearly designed to kill humans as fast as possible even in their "castrated semi " mode. Mopho does come up with some valid points... Imagine what it would be like to buy a seven at a car show or privately and never have to worry about registering to own or using it, as opposed to what many here have experienced at the DMV. Do you really think the NRA and gun rights supporters are really bothered about the protection of ancient laws over that of the gun manufacturers and the almighty dollar nad the mach right to own the ultimate death toy ? More guns out there to "protect" against millions of guns out there is ridiculous. Why is this made out to be a political "lib v rep" debate anyway? Why are more people up in arms over the many real freedoms and loss of rights that have been taken away in the last 20 years under the name of "security , terrorism or the Homeland" ,( particularly since 9/11 ) with regard to privacy, personal rights, arrest and loss of rights? I really do wish more Americans traveled, (and not just in the military). Yeah, it is soap boxing a bit, but I just had to laugh to myself; if they ever did impose restrictions on the high performance AR 15 types it might be very similar to the owner of a new 7("please put it down as a 1967 Lotus") trying to convince a bored state DMV employee that the 2103 Bushwhacker rifle with high cap clip really has to be registered as a 1976 Brown Bess.

a car that makes a 7 look like a Caddy.

The first time I saw a picture of this color combo I thought it was tacky, but after seeing one in the flesh I must say I like it, I know it has kind if a retro JPS vibe going on , but I think it really works in an odd way... Has any one seen the JPS look on a 7? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2012-Lotus-Evora-2-2-Supercharged-GP-Edition-Black-Gold-AS-NEW-848-Miles-/190789266532?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item2c6bed2c64#ht_3823wt_1163

One of the problems with selling the car in the US was the styling of the car meant that the headlamps were too low. The innovative solution to this was to invert the front wishbones when constructing the car. The car then met US regulations and owners could revert the installation at their leisure. Ultimately Federal Authorities caught onto this ruse and the styling of the front wings was eventually raised to accommodate the higher headlamps required. This redesign meant that the Federal car was given a new Type number: Type 65." This looks nice too, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1972-Lotus-Elan-S4-Sprint-Frame-up-restoration-vintage-classic-convertible-/150980114853?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item23271db9a5#ht_6176wt_880 I never knew how delicate looking the frame work looked on the Elan. No, they developed their own engine, at great cost actually, even though there was the tried and tested Rover( Buick) V8, it was said that even though they were part of BMC then Leyland, that they wanted to keep it more "Triumph" like the old days, the engine, sadly, was not very good.
-
That is a great MG. I recall the MG B GT V8 from the factory was in answer to many tuners and custom builders offering the V8, but what was the story with the C and the Sebring.

Ha, Ha, I read your note about the trip to Palestine, missing the TX part, and was like damn, this is one devoted enthusiast ! lol.

Of course the car is just titled as a 68 for convenience; Westfield made SEights from 1991 to 2010, this one looks pretty fresh and new to me.

See you chose the subtle approach for the vanity tag.

Thanks for that.

So, I know the SV version is 4 inches wider that the stock car but are the seats actually wider too? Thanks

All the tops suck, and unless you are a dwarf or Russian gymnast good luck getting in and out, and they leak if you do get that far. Yes, but not by choice, and it was an experience, I have never squeezed anything as tight as that little MoMo that night. Heater is like a hamster breathing on you. I would forgo the web sights and experience the cars in person, most owners are more than happy to help out a new buyer, particularly in this forum.
