Is it as fast as your ex-Stalker?

Does the large windshield reduce effectiveness of rear wing?

What is top speed?

I have been doing the same job for 43 years, so just 6 more to go:)!

P.S. Just noticed that spec Atom goes for $104K so I mite have to wait 100 years....

Congratulations! Beautiful Atom. Bet it goes like stink. You gonna try to get it street legal?

Thanks, MightyMike. I do love the carbon fiber look, and with only 3.7 pounds for each horsepower to pull around, it does pretty well as a (relatively) economical top fuel substitute.

I ordered this one with all the required street equipment, so when I eventually sell it, the buyer can register it. Once I found out, nine years ago, how much fun road racing is, I don't enjoy street driving enough, or do it often enough, to justify paying the insurance, tax, and registration fees.

Funny thing about that- when I bought my first Atom, I did not intend to EVER take it to the track. But once I did, anything less than going for a new personal best lap time at the tracks, is BORING!

Thanks again for your kind comments,

Windshield and wiper, along with plexi side panels. Your wife made you orders those, didn't she :D

No, actually, it was the data from a fellow Ariel Atom road racer that showed proof that the car turns better lap times with the windshield and side panels. Same track, driver, and car setup, same day data.

However, when I take wifey and our two miniature Daschunds for a ride through the neighborhood, the windshield is a little more pleasant than without it.

But I did order the other cowl, that has just the two tiny lexan deflectors, 3" high, 4" wide each, in front of the driver and passenger, so I can run the car either way. Takes less than five minutes to change it. And that way I can demonstrate the car both ways, to a prospective buyer that is trying to decide which way to order the car.

The windshield has the wiper AND washer included, with just a single quick-disconnect electrical plug.

Hi, Kitcat,

ex-Stalker?? I'm not sure I understand your question. I have yet to see a Stalker in person, let alone own one. I've only seen pictures.

I feel sure the full windshield does keep the rear wing from doing much, as it comes from the factory. I use the factory wing but make new mounts to raise the wing up and back to get it in cleaner air and give it more leverage for downforce. Lessons learned from my top fuel cars.

Top speed? Last time out at Hallett Motor Raceway, I had a new career best One minute and 19.15 second lap time, and (without going back and looking at the data) I think about 122mph or so on the front straight. And at Eagles Canyon Raceway at Decatur, Tex., over 130 mph on its longer straight. I've heard 155 mph at Virginia International Raceway, but I have never been there myself.

Congratulations on 43 years at the same job. I'll bet you and I are in a very small group of folks that have that much time in.

Whoops, sorry FF, I mixed you up with another epic driver who appears here as midgetracr. He drove a V8 Stalker that topped out at 170 mph at VIR, did the 1/4 mile under 10 sec at 149 mph, etc. Quite the car/driver combo, not unlike you.

Eddie,

Great looking (very quick) car. Here's to hoping that I will still see you at Cresson one day. And I still own my LS6 powered Stalker.....but.....it's kinda broken right now after my Peter Pan impersonation at Texas World Speedway back in Feb.

You slacker!

Why isn't that fixed already?

Enough r n r already....

Paul,

I'm neck-deep in a new career.....and so goes my chance of 49 years with the same job and a new Storker! :smilielol5:Maybe Croc or Tom will loan me one of their Cats until I have the time (and a place) to rebuild mine. Sory Eddie, didn't mean to hijack your thread. :jester:

Took advantage of this great December weather to run my new 2016 Ariel Atom Turbo on track at Eagles Canyon Raceway at Decatur, Texas.

Big fun! And, as usual, did not have to do anything to the car but put 91 octane in it. :hurray:

Thanks for looking-

Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!!
